Everyone's favourite:
Guillem Balague @GuillemBalague 3m
As well as Debuchy, AFC about to finalise a loan deal for Manquillo. Both for the right back position. Not huge names but clever picks

Good signing for arsenal - can't turn down that sort of quality for that price.
Although it has to be said yet another nippy stylish no real position attacking player.

Don't worry he's like Debuchy - good at going forwards, Poopie at defending. It's be like Mathieu never left

No thanks. Already been down that road.

I remember Lambert saying this, 'He has a wand of a left foot & is extremely quick. Tonev is an exciting player and I think Villa fans will see he is a good player.
I think Pardew came out with the same kind of description for Gabriel Obertan.
Typical Newcastle news story. Reports coming out of Holland claim Feyenoord have rejected a €6million (£4.7m) from Newcastle for Netherlands full-back Darryl Janmaat. We now scarper & claim never to of even heard of the player. Classic Ashley.

For all that £75m, it's basically being blown on so-so players. Origi & Lallana are nothing special, only Markovic looks a talent, but where is the goal replacement for Suarez. Never rated BR in the transfer market, could be his downfall again.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Lets be realistic, where not going to replace 30 goals + assists for Suarez. But we did concede over 50 goals in the prem. If we can plug that and keep it to around 30 goals conceded, I can't see why we can't challenge for top 4 next season

Be just our luck for Liverpool to get drawn against Barca in the CL and for Stevie to gift Suarez another goal. One will have to wonder just how many mirrors Gerrard has smashed at home.
Anyway, thanks for the memories Luis, just hope Barca haven't bitten off more than they can chew by signing you.

Looking at the top 7 last year, you have to say that Liverpool look like the team who will most obviously be weaker this season than last. You just can't replace a 30 a season striker. I'd think Man Utd may well be back in the top 4 this year, with Liverpool making way.

Hannover left back Sebastian Pocognoli in talks with Albion and set for medical.
Not a clue who he is, but he actually costs money which makes a nice change. Also heard that we might be in for Jenkinson, who I actually quite rate!

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
But as said before, you CAN plug a defence that leaks 50+ goals thus ensuring your goal difference is still comparable. Doesn't matter if we don't beat teams 4-0 this season just as long as we aren't throwing away points with sloppy defending.jbeadlesbigrighthand wrote:John wrote: you know what I mean though about those signings. Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I think Liverpool are definitely going to struggle to get in the top four next season. They have lost their best player and have Champions League to cope with too.
The main reason though is they seem to be content with buying mid-table players. Just as teams who buy players who have been relegated and then wonder how they have got relegated the following year.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool spend the Suarez money or whether they have already spent the Suarez money, Tottenham-esque, on Lallana and co.

Southampton signing Pelle for around £10m this weekend.
Bony wants to join Liverpool & will cost £19m. Apparently, West Ham linked with Christian Atsu from Chelsea.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Or maybe they're trying to spend wisely?!?!?!? Anyway, Rodgers seemed to do well enough with his "mid-table players" last season. No doubt there'll be a period of bedding in but with the first team players already at his disposal, I don't see how this season will be dramatically different. Rodgers has proven himself to be a very good manager and I can't see the team failing to play in the same manner as last season. A few tweaks here and there, tighten up the team re defensive responsibilities, work on more of a Plan B and hopefully it's "more of the same please"sportform wrote:I think Liverpool are definitely going to struggle to get in the top four next season. Without Suarez for 10 games, Liverpool still played some good football and still won their first three games (1-0 or 4-0 it's still three points and hard to imagine that a season will once again be decided on goals difference). Whilst he scored a lot of goals, I believe someone pointed out that quite a few were ones that were almost unnecessary as the team had already scored enough to secure the win anyway.
Losing Suarez opens the doors for a number of other players to chip in and score a few more and we'll see who wants to stand up and be counted. Would like to see the likes of Ibe making an impact like Sterling did

1-0 is all very good when a. you have good defenders and b. you have a manager who can coach defending.

Strong rumours that we're edging closer to signing Di Maria, very much like the Sanchez deal, not required but too good to turn down even if he did produce the single worst performance i've ever seen.

To some extent. And I guess you could point to Liverpool's performance without Suarez at the start of the season as a positive sign. From a purely statistical point of view you can argue that if you take away Suarez's goals, and tighten the defence to the tune of 10 goals a season, then they would be level with Arsenal more or less.
However, given that Arsenal and Chelsea should be stronger, Man Utd will come back into it, and Pocchetino should improve Spurs, I don't think it's crazy to suggest Liverpool need more than that.

Looks very likely that Suarez will complete his move to Barcelona by next week or in the coming days. I wouldn't say I'm glad to see him gone from the Premier League, but his trouble making will not be tolerated by many anymore, even Liverpool fans that still stand up for him. But his quality was stunning at his time in the Premier League so it is sad to see players like this go.

Ozil should give Arsenal that boost to secure the title in 2013/2014
Moyes should be able to continue the work of Ferguson in 2013/2014
Rooney should be told to f**k off and see if someone else wants to pay him 300K a week
Anyway, I struggle with this idea that because Suarez is gone, Liverpool will stagnate and Rodgers will become utterly bereft of ideas and options now. What is there is the team/manager that indicates they're about to suffer a total Utd-esque collapse. Hey, not saying it's impossible but why are people so sure this will happen?

Di Maria managed 26 assists last season as well as 11 goals, his best return since joining, he was the highest for assists in La Liga.
Disappointing by Ent though in most peoples books is exceptional.

Tbf, I thought Di Maria flattered to deceive for most of his Real career before moving more central last season. Mind, I thought the same about Sanchez, albeit he was more out of position at Barca.

Also, now that they have Suarez I wonder if they'll move Neymar on. The 3 of them couldn't play together, surely?
