Everything was fine and dandy at Bayern before last summer, the German players just don't seem to get on with Pep, too much of a culture shift and I can't see him being there long term.

He's been a bit of a Trojan horse, chubby Mario, but with Robbery coming to the end of their shelflife, and a manager who will find a use for him, I think this is the season he comes good, or joins Arsenal.

It did getting battered by Madrid, the Germans unlike the British are the consummate professionals so just get on with it but there has been a lot of murmurings of discontent even from the old guard like Schweinsteiger.

Kroos is the best signing Madrid could make. Lovely player.

Enner Valencia looks done at €10m so about £7.95m. Now linked with a move for Delph (which I'd love but I will say is 90% unlikely to happen)

Gotze will lose his mind if Allacantaro gets the Kroos berth... Think he'll be a gooner sharpish. Odd how Wenger has dropped the Frenchies, and decided the Bundesliga is where it's at.

Surprised it stayed around £8m for Valencia, lack of competition?

Well, Inter made a bid but I'm guessing not as a high, or they weren't happy to give the 25-30% (profit) sell on fee which we've given

Almost sealed now di Maria to Paris for €60m. Can anyone please explain exactly how the Financial Fair Play is supposed to work?

Seriously, stop worrying about FFP, it's a farse.

Would expect the following to unfold

Vidal to United
Di Maria to PSG, replaced by Rodriguez from Monaco
Yanga M`biwa to St. Etienne
Mangala to Man City

I can never understand what Madrid are playing at, is replacing Di Maria for Rodriguez really worth it?

He had a fabulous world cup but he hasn't exactly been tearing up trees for Monaco so seems as if Madrid are just buying whoever is flavour of the month.

I won't believe the Vidal rumours until he's signed the contract, seems far too good to be true, the Italians must hate being bullied about nowadays, how times have changed.

It baffles me how some of these teams are run, shirt sales seem to take precedent over results and i've never understood the shirt sale argument. Surely if you're a Madrid fan and want to buy a shirt you buy one regardless of who is there and just put your favourite player on the back, I doubt many will buy a Ronaldo shirt and a Rodriguez shirt.

I don't know how it works, I don't remember seeing many Beckham shirts around when they bought him, must be some sort of profit to be had from it I suppose.

Rodriguez for di Maria isn't worth it, but it's the best we could/can hope for, once Perez decided we need a new Galactico. I'm still not convinced we'll get Rodriguez, Monaco don't need the money, he's playing champions league football, and his contract runs till 2018, so he can't force the issue like Kroos. He also doesn't pay taxes, and doesn't look like he has the Suarez sulk in him.... No, I'm pretty sure we're getting Falcao.

It's the constant conflicting reports from all these so called experts, Ballague is the worst for it, he'll swear down a transfer is a certainty one minute then when he's proved wrong will backtrack.

I might be in a minority when it comes to United fans, but this is music to my ears. Wouldn't want him anywere near our team.

Granted a talented guy, but I'd be embarassed by his antics, its bad enough with AshleyYoung

2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread - Page 15 Empty Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread

Post by FootballLight Sun 13 Jul 2014, 2:05 pm

So then it looks likely now that Suarez will finally complete his long-hauled transfer over to Spain with Barcelona this week. A whole lot of money for a whole lot of trouble for Barcelona. But his quality is worth that much. I personally wouldn't have paid that for him, but, they have been trailing him since January and with the money they have its no surprise they have got that under their belt so I'm not surprised they activated his release clause, forcing Liverpool to accept so they can get their man.

But a problem is now that people moan that English football is going down and is being over-taken by the Bundesliga and/or La Liga. I myself personally don't see that as an issue but I can see why they are arguably over-taking the Premier League. All the best players are getting sold away from England and out to elsewhere now, other Foreign divisions. Suarez is the perfect example. Yes, he is a trouble causer but ability wise, he is the best in the Premier League all around imo but people have forced him away, yes, maybe for the greater good but he was the best Premier League player, so that's only giving the Premier League worse reputation whilst increasing the Spanish reputation with big players like that. But from this summer, the argument isn't valid as a lot of top players from top clubs in the biggest divisions have come over to England and will continue to i.e. Sanchez, Fabregas.

It also looks as if Mangala will complete a £32m move to Man City sometime this week as well. A good replacement for Lescott and Demichellis and a good partner to have alongside Kompany, most will think. Man City have always had a good defence but have always struggled to find a suitable partner for Kompany and I don't think Mangala will be any different unfortunately. I would agree he is one of the rising stars in the game, especially in defence, but we all know how good lescott was at Everton, flopped at City, Demichellis the same at Malaga, flopped at City (for the 1st half of the season anyway). The kid has got potential and ability, no question about that, but if he doesn't blend in with the quality of the City defence, then maybe we could see another flop this season. I certainly hope not, but it might turn out that way. But I don't think it will. But just making that point known now.

In other news, after Robben's fine tournament, will he be follwing Van Gaal to United? The chances are unlikely but I seriously don't see why Van Gaal doesn't try to take him to United with him because he will make a huge impact on their season and their team. He is a role model and youngsters like Januzaj and Zaha could really look up to a player like him. Vidal also in the news about a United move, I would seriously consider signing him as well. Nani would just be the perfect player to be shut of and even if they do still have to pay a hefty fee, it will be worth it because Vidal will hold any team together and be the unspoken hero like he always is in that United team. Makes way for Robben as well if Nani goes the other way. I wouldn't be so sure about Mats Hummels or Marco Reus but if he could 3 of those 4 players or maybe even all 4, I know people said it would take them a while to regain their crown at the top again, but I think that team and manager would see them walk the league once again. I seriously do. As much as what City have in wealth and Liverpool in attacking quality, United's team would walk that title with all of them players. They have the money, they have the links, they have power and resources, so why not sign them?

Sorry FootballLight, Robben has decided to keep his talents In Bavaria. Speaking of whom, seems Pep has renounced all big signings, and seek to prove he can win everything with the Alpine Messi, an old Robben, and chubby Mario. Gotta love a guy who turns something as rather elementary as football into a philosophic matter.

tbh, as much as i rate robben as probably in the top 5 players in world football, at 31 i don't particularly think its good business for utd to go after him even if he was gettable. Would rather us bring through Januzaj/zaha and even lingard, and buy depay. Hell we even have valencia as a squad player, and cm and cb is where we need to be focusing on. Seems vidal may actually be on his way to utd, what a signing that would be for us and may persuade Hummels to join also

I shall ponder and consider it, Can't see Arsenal paying out 50m+ for him,United have RVP/Rooney, Chelsea have Diego Costa, Spurs are well just Spurs, Just leaves Liverpool with 75m in their pocket. That's if he really wants a PL move, Im sure Luis will tell some positive things to him about the place.

In other news according to Graeme Bailey from SSN, Sami Khedira is heading to the Emirates. Good signing fear he's knee will go again though.
