There's just players you love and only really appreciate inside your own club. None of you get Carlton, and thats fine, but I love the man. Same-ish with Holt

Exactly Dolph.
I've had a few favourites at Villa over the years, who havn't been great.
Big Fash, Lee Hendrie, Tommy Johnson, Ian Taylor to name a few.

Anyone listening to the LVG press conference.
Van Gaal drops big news, saying Carrick injured for a long time, too long. Haven't heard about Vidal as of yet.

Everything you have said there is completely false, and doesn't make much sense to be perfectly honest.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
One of the notes I saw on twitter was that LVG either said or it was inferred that he wouldnt make signing for a little while.
Sky report that West Ham bid £4m for Boca Juniors left back Emiliano Insua (not ex Liverpool player). We were in talks with Boca and him 3 weeks ago, so whether its slowly catching up or we've gone back in I don't know. However, they also "understand" we are closing in on the signing of Croatian defender Ivan Strinic who is a left back. It sounds to me like we're carrying on our approach of negotiating with a few options in the position we want to reinforce. I think its a great approach.
Livorno president also says we're interested in their striker Paulinho

Said he wanted to view the first team & give them the opportunity to impress. It's the classic 'give everyone a chance' comment, but he already knows what's what. If Carrick is injured for months, just speeds up the chance of signing the direct replacement in my opinion & getting him in ASAP. Waiting a few weeks would be a mistake, need to integrate them during pre-season.

Because their chairman keeps pocketing any money they make instead of investing it in the squad.FootballLight wrote:So then, if they have got "money" as you claim, why do they only have 8 first team squad players currently and their chairman Karl Oyston has said they will have a full 25 man squad by the start of the season, they just lack finances? See, if i'd seen the quote I'd have taken it like a normal person and not the way that journo represented it. Silly mugs.
Aren't they off to the US tomorrow? I'd imagine nothing will happen for at least a week, and no chance Vidal is done this weekend like someone guessed

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
The point of mine was that Blackpool are struggling for money and need some investment. You cannot say that I am wrong because no matter what/where he puts his money, it isn't into Blackpool. I doubt he gains that much anyway and they are struggling financially. No matter what you're argument is to it, there is no denying they are struggling, because the money isn't in the club, it is elsewhere.

West Ham have made some very good signings. Interesting to see how they do next season. But against Stevenage in there pre season game on Saturday sounded like it was the same old route one football.

Your point was they were struggling for money because of highly paid players.
Which never applied to Blackpool.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
When did I ever mention highly paid players regarding Blackpool? I did with Norwich, not Blackpool, or at least I do not recall. But here is my evidence and I will take quotes, backing up exactly what I said.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28194124
"Blackpool's fans are frustrated at what they view as a lack of investment by chairman Karl Oyston"
"It is no good to jumping to conclusions. We need to give it time to settle down and then see what happens. That Premier League season put the club on its feet financially, now it's up to the club to get on with it." Jimmy Armfield
"Achieved on the lowest wage bill in the Championship, it was witnessed by one of the smallest average attendances in the division and masterminded at a dilapidated training ground still in use since the days of the legendary Stanley Matthews." - This shows a lack of finances at not being able to upgrade their facilities and improve elsewhere.
"The mood of supporters did not improve when they learned the club paid £11m(This here is a link) to a company owned by Owen Oyston - Karl's father - during the Premier League campaign, equating to £211,538 a week and putting Oyston senior among the highest earners in world football."
"The squad is not just thin, it is almost non-existent," says Glenn Bowley, chairman of the club's official supporters' association. "There seems to be a significant lack of progress. It is a complete and utter shambles." - Once again, shows a lack of finances
"What is causing widespread unrest and anger is a perceived lack of investment since a Premier League season that generated £80m - a sum the chairman claimed would "change the club forever". - Once again, shows another lack of finances
"Since the end of last season, 27 players have left, including their player of the year and one of the most highly-prized assets in British football." - Once again shows a lack of finances
That is just about to be honest. I don't think there is much more to read about the club's financial state apart from Karl Oyston's stories on how the club are in a "strong position" and his reassurance to the fans that the finances will get better and the club will improve, squad size wise anyway.
If the club weren't in trouble financially, don't you think they would have at least a squad of 18 by now, not 8?

No, but your still missing my point!! My point is, they are struggling financially because of their relegation from the PL, not because of their high paid players which they never had or because of any other reasons you seem to tell me, that I already know. You clearly don't know much of this because you are still missing the point about how they are struggling financially because of their relegation from the PL, that is my point!!

I mean, why would you include didn't sell any of their players (their 2 best players actually left after that season, one for over 10m) otherwise

I didn't mean exactly collectively mean with all 3, the problem is, they didn't make enough profit out of selling their best players, even if they did sell or not.

And you're somehow missing our point, which is that it's a bit strange to include a team that didn't really spend any money on getting to, staying in, or getting back to the Premier League when talking about teams not adjusting to life after relegation.FootballLight wrote:You clearly don't know much of this because you are still missing the point about how they are struggling financially because of their relegation from the PL, that is my point!!

The Morata to Juventus deal is apparently now in limbo. We really aren't going to raise funds for a big money move. On the bright side, ordered my "Kroos 8" shirt. First Madrid jersey I've bought since "Ronaldo 9" five years ago when my dad got swept up with the euphoria in the capital. Bloody madridistas

I think Raf that one deal will set off a chain reaction in the transfer window as it always does, Juve aren't in a position to buy without first selling and Real can't buy without selling and so on.

I don't see United getting both, maybe one. I'd actually be disappointed that LVG had to basically blow £100m + in one summer on players to get United back into the top 4 & his so-called brilliant management, couldn't achieve this, with just two signings. I know United needed strengthening but I thought a proven manager alone, could of done the job.
were not settling for just getting back in top four, that's minimum requirement. get those signing mentioned and we would be challenging for the title and be a force in europe again when we get back in there. or at least thats the aim

The Carrick injury will force LVG's hand. United will be bringing in, I wouldn't believe a word LVG has to say. You can't go into the EPL season with Cleverley, Fletcher, Fellaini & the inexperienced to the EPL Herrera in that midfield.
Has James Rodriguez fee agreed been confirmed then to Madrid?

Many media outlets in Spain are suggesting Real Madrid will complete the signing of James for a fee of anywhere between €80-€107m.
Deal will be completed once Angel Di Maria joins PSG.
