Rio de Janiero - 2014 Fifa World Cup Thread
First topic message reminder :
Belgium have not impressed me at all, lack cohesion. I think that under Klinsmann, the USA are tactically superior and will pick Belgium on a counter attack.

Yes it's him Bixente Lizarazu & Christian Karembeu and a random Arsenal Scout apparently
I thought Wenger was in Milan sealing the deal with Balotelli?

Well he cost Monaco £45 mil and chose them over Man U and he got the most assists in France last year.

He doesn't do the transfers, Dick Law does and that is by far the best name ever for an negotiator. The names Law, Dick Law

Rubbish.
People have been going crazy over James Rodriguez all year...particularly after Falcao got injured because they moved him centrally and he got very good.

Argentina were in a similar position vs Germany, in 2006 - absolutely bossing the game before he chose sub Riquelme for a more defensive-minded player - it cost him the match and probably his job. Has he learnt from it, or will his Colombian side shut up shop and get burgled at the death?

Unknown to you.
He's not a star yet, but the noise on him has not been quiet at all and a lot expected big things from him this tournament.

That was beautiful play, well-worked and simply finished.

He might be a good shout for the Golden Boot now. 5 goals, and Colombia likely to go to the next round.

Just emphasing again, how poor our supposed `group of death` really was. Rodriguez has been brilliant.

Brazil are going to have make a significant step up in quality to get the better of Colombia, who have looked the best of the South American teams thus far.

well i think we all saw the difference between Uruguay with Suarez and without!
same applied to there qualifying- It was only Suarez's late form and burst of goals that got them in to the WC in the first place.

Argentina have this chap called Messi who's on four goals. Might be in with a shout particularly as he's up against a defence that contains Phillipe Senderos and Johan Djourou next.

Alot of people writing the Argentinians off at the moment- but just think about the attacking threat if arguero and Higuian also come to life!

Think the player of the tournament will likely come from a finalist. If Messi keeps it up and Argentina do win, he will get it.
So far I think it goes:
1. James Rodriguez
2. Argen Robben
3. Lionel Messi

Yeah I think Muller or Messi for the Golden Boot, barring a surprise elimination in the R16 for either side.

I doubt Senderos will start.
They are also up against a guy called Shaqiri, who is decent, not many people making any noise about him.
Will make it tough for Argentina.
C'mon the Swiss.

The swiss are organised . Not sure if it will be that easy. Can see a bigger performance from the other front men if they are going to win big

Hope so anyway. Only 22, big future ahead.
