Rio de Janiero - 2014 Fifa World Cup Thread
First topic message reminder :
Belgium have not impressed me at all, lack cohesion. I think that under Klinsmann, the USA are tactically superior and will pick Belgium on a counter attack.
Linebreaker wrote:Pretty much the same as you Nachos but I'll come out of the cellar and pick Belgium over USA.

Seems Lahm has been relegated to right back... And Khedira must have been put on when I changed the channel about 15 minutes ago... I'd never have guessed he was on if his mug didn't appear on my screen just now

Neuer is the bravest keeper in the world.

Neuer is the best keeper in the world.
But the Algeria keeper has stolen the show without question tonight.

If Algeria do pull off the upset, can see them taking France.
Would love that. They have done very well what ever happens.
Credit to them.

So...England's 0-0 draw in 2010 wasn't that bad after all?
Been a good game this...still fancying Germany to take this.

Neuer could probably do a reasonable job anywhere on the pitch. He strikes me as willing to do anything to make sure his team win which is all a manager can ask for.

In other news. Ozil is still awful. Arsenal really paid 37 million for him?

The sheer, total and utter, crushing, Frak, painful, joyless, unmitigated, inevitability of that goal.

You just know Neuer has inspired a generation of goalkeeping errors caused by wannabe sweepers.

Yeah, terrible tonight. Mertesacker was blowing big time every time ball went over the top to Slimani. As GSC says, they don't take their chances do the smaller sides.
Another example there.....

Strikes me that nobody other than Colombia really want to win it and they have yet to face one of the elite, the winner is going to be the team who is least crap.

Yes it's certainly a wide-open tournament. I think Colombia will win it if they get past Brazil on Friday.Hammersmith harrier wrote:Strikes me that nobody other than Colombia really want to win it and they have yet to face one of the elite, the winner is going to be the team who is least crap.

France need to improve most. Germany are having an off night & have the experienced heads for a QF

Well where Germany are playing is pretty cold so I don't think it is the heat affecting them right now.

Re: Rio de Janiero - 2014 Fifa World Cup Thread
FIFA really need to introduce the idea of having extra substitutes during extra-time as the game gets completely broken up in extra-time for players suffering cramp.
This has been such a brave effort from Algeria, but they've been brutally punished for not taking their chances.

Algeria deserve their goal, but it is all over.
Well played both teams, that was far more enjoyable than I anticipated it to be.
Sooooo close to two upsets!
