Re: Confirmed: Mayweather vs. Maidana II, 13th September, MGM Grand.
Hooray another nothing fight for Floyd; granted the first fight was much closer than many thought it would be but have to feel that Maidana missed the boat last time out and Mayweather should win with some to spare this time.
Strange thing is that if it was a case of Floyd getting old last time out then he risks losing his unbeaten record and claims of being up there with Ali etc by losing to a B class fighter...surely make far more sense to lose it to a fellow all time great and much more thought of opponent.
Plenty of other fights out there I would have much preferred to see him in at this stage of his career. Showtime must be trying there best not to cry given the $200 million + they have pumped into his contract...they will be no where near getting that money back come the end at this rate.
Guerrero = 900k (rough estimates) $60 million ppv revenue
Alvarez = 2.2 m = $150 Million ppv revenue
Maidana = 900 k (rough estimates) $60 million ppv revenue
take off a guaranteed $105 million for Mayweather purses from those..leaves $165 million!
Still have to account for Floyds pretty huge % of PPV sales and the other fighters purse splits and PPV splits...then other expenses I simply can't see how Showtime get much back on this investment.

No interest whatsoever, personally. Not keen on rematches unless there's unfinished business (unfinished business is a trademark and not to be used without explicit permission !).
Close but conclusive first time around, what more are we going to find out. Predicting much of the same second time round. Would rather see Khan, Porter, Thurman or Lara. Or obviously Pacquaio

Been playing it very safe since Castillo.
In time the record books will be correctly evaluated. He won't be Top 10 or Top 20 in the ATG stakes.

I thought I was a mayweather fan/ or at least an appreciator of his talent. Got up at stupid o clock to watch the last fight, as I have been with mayweather for quite some time now. Was surprised at just how much more satisfying it was watching mayweather getting hit clean repeatedly than watching him shoulder roll to safety.
More of mayweather getting caught clean? Yes please. More of mayweather being forced to fight on the front foot, as defence on the the ropes is useless? Yes please. Maidana v mayweather 2? Yes please.

I can't understand why people are uninterested in this fight. Maidana gives Floyd one of his toughest fights albeit IMO Floyd was a clear winner.
Granted Floyd will most likely win in more convincing fashion much like the Castillo rematch but it will be fascinating to watch.
Just need to get tickets now!

Not having seen it I don't know but while Floyd got tagged more than he had in a while, wasn't he a clear winner???
If so then I don't really see the point. If it was close then fair enough.
Otherwise another easy fight and another stick for people to bash him with (deservedly I might add)

I was uninterested in the first fight and it was a pleasant surprise. Given the first fight you can see the marketing angle for the rematch. Some obviously thought maidana won. I had floyd reasonably comfortably in the end, and just can't see maidana doing anything differently.... Also think floyd knows what he needs to do now and will win with a bit more to spare.
Given the first fight, we can't complain its a terrible match up, it's just I 'd rather he faced someone new.

I hope Maidana gets his MX gloves approved for this one. I want to see what would happen to Floyd if he had to take the shots every other Maidana opponent had faced; would he have been knocked down by the shots that buzzed him early in the fight? Would that body attack have been more effective early on in the fight and hindered his late rounds rally?

I thought the gloves got sorted for the first fight and it was something that got blown out of all proportion???

No he was forced to use gloves with more padding in the end, didn't use his normal choice.

Pointless fight. Maidana has nothing to offer other than a spirited performance in the first fight but still got well and truely beaten.
Re: Confirmed: Mayweather vs. Maidana II, 13th September, MGM Grand.
Cheers Hampo, I remember going off about it at the time but was sure I'd seen something saying he hadn't.
I'm sure Floyd will make him wear the same type gloves again, but if I was Maidana I'd be shouting from the rooftops now about how he'd have beaten him with proper gloves. Might not be true but would help him get a few extra buys.
Still a bad fight but then I don't expect the top 2 to take a really tough fight when their fans aren't too fussed by it.

I think the kind of 'assisting' you're thinking of might blur the boundaries between suicide and murder Dave.

Just arrange a meeting and dress up as Eddie Hearn, he'd either fall at your feet praising you, or die of a heartattack as he thought the devil had shown up in person

Re: Confirmed: Mayweather vs. Maidana II, 13th September, MGM Grand.
I actually am interested, whereas i wan't for the first
Yes Floyd probably had an off night and could well dominate Marcos this time around, but Marcos will make it hot while he can, wont stop throwing and if he can get floyd on the ropes he will score to the body and try to wear him down
Floyd hasn't taken much punishment but he doesn't have the same legs and can be hit and bullied!! Just a shame Canelo tried to box him instead of brawl like marcos did as his size and power could have troubled floyd moreso
Thurman is too high a risk for floyd with little reward atm so cant see it happen and who knows if khan can stay unbeaten

Thankfully the internet appears to be a wonderful place for finding evidence of ladies who think they're better than others debasing themselves in a manner that would cause a will to get re-written quicker than you can say "Swallow that first, then you can have some more m'lady!"

You then have to factor in the other incomings like ticket sales and sponsorship money, Showtime will be making a fairly hefty profit from his fights as long as he's bringing in on average over 1mil PPV buys.

Hammersmith;
From what I read and know I'm not sure Showtime receive anything from ticket sales or closed circuit that is essentially the promoters cut. Sponsorship I'm not sure about and advertising I would imagine is pretty non-existent given there is very little of it (well certainly over here)...
WWould be interested to know more about this part if anyone can shed any light on it though; just by my account showtime make back their investment through PPV sales only..

That promoters cut goes toward paying Mayweather though Owen something you hadn't taken into account considering it's his promotional company.
