Three times is a long time and I'm sure he picked up a lot during Sir Alex reign and SAF would go up to Giggs asking for his opinion. It's still too early to say if he will get the job but he understands what it is to manager a club of Manchester United stature.

I feel sorry for Moyes and I was in the same pro Moyes camp, I do hope he gets a job soon. One poor season does not make you a bad manager.

I agree it did but that doesn't make it a better deal,  quality over quantity comes to mind when you made those offers. An I think taking the 50m cash was the better option as I bought players that  improved my side instead of bench warmers and proof is there I finished 4th with Basel.

I don't expect United to finish top 4 this season.

Man City
Chelsea
Arsenal
Liverpool
United
Spurs

Would be my top 6.

I think City might slip to 3rd of 4th this year, I really do.

Aguero can't stay fit, Yaya is muttering about his birthday, their second centre back is hard to pin down.

Reckon Chelsea finish above them at least and maybe Liverpool, Arsenal or United if they strengthen some more.

Yaya was upset about his brother dying, he can be forgiven. They have a much better squad than everyone bar Chelsea, and if they sign Isco? Game over.

I fancy Liverpoo. Markovic-Coutinho-Sterling behind Sturridge is going to be invincible, with Lallana-Gerrard behind. Fantastic.

I'm a believer in Liverpool still. I don't think they were as reliant on Suarez as is made out sometimes. I like the squad they have, except their defence remains crappy.

Reina (not Mignolet, he's crud)
Flanagan - Lovren - Sakho - G Johnson (until they find a better LB)
Gerrard - Lallana
Sterling - Coutinho - Markovic
Sturridge

Is better than

De Gea
Rafael - Jones - Smalling - Shaw
Carrick - Fellaini
Valencia - Rooney - Welbeck
Van Persie

Because Mata and Herrera don't play for United.

Who posted this less then a year ago?

And Robben is not better than Eriksen, he's the quintessential one-dimensional player. Eriksen offers not as much going forward, but actually defends, and contributes more to his team than Robben does.

Someone sign Andy Robertson. He'll move from Dundee Utd for about £3m which will impact on his TM value but more importantly is a really good player.

Lallana in a CM role? Suspect it'd still be Stevie G & Henderson with Lallana in the Coutinho/Markovic role and those two fighting it out for the other position.

Utd will obviously still look to get in a CB and CM to improve their side, I'd suspect a winger as well. Fingers crossed the side will end up:

------------De Gea------------
Rafael---Jones---De Vrij---Shaw
----------Vidal---Herrera------
Januzaj-----Mata------Rooney
------------RVP--------------

Compare that to the Liverpool team of pretty much what you've got:

-------------Reina/Mig-------------
Flanagan---Lovren---Sakho---Johnson
-----------Gerrard---Henderson----
Sterling-------Lallana---------Markovic
-------------Sturridge-------------

Id have Utd at 7 1/2 over Liverpool's 3 1/2 on like of like positions.

Apologies, I forgot Mata played for United (pretty easy to do) and Herrera I don't rate as good enough to dislodge Carrick or Fellaini. Only my opinion. I don't think he's going to adapt to English football quickly.

If United sign de Vrij, that's a quality signing. Van Gaal knows what he can do as well, whereas I bet he's worried about Evans-Jones-Smalling for this season.

I could post Liverpool's side with Vidal and de Vrij in them too if you like?

Januzaj isn't ready for a full season, and he's not all that. Yet. Mata needs to seriously improve, and if Rooney's on the left, he'll kick up a stink and leave. RVP's fitness is a major worry too.

It's clear that you've never watched United play because after Rooney Mata was Uniteds best player.

Herrera will be playing first team football especially with Carrick out for 12 weeks. If you've watched Evans you would know he has been the BEST CB AT Manchester United for last 4 years. Don't comment on things you don't know about.

I thought the Robben/Eriksen comment was me?

I watched Mata play half a dozen times for United, and he was crud every time. Mind you, so were United.

As for Evans, he's had zero competition for that title. It's like saying you've had the best moustache in the Euro Division over the last 4 years.

Evans' last 4 league seasons:

2010-11 = 13 games played
2011-12 = 29 games played
2012-13 = 23 games played
2013-14 = 17 games played

If he's been your best CB having played just 82 games in four years, you've had a pretty rubbish CB pairing Viva. And you won the league in that time. Pretty sure both Rio and Vidic were better, even including last season.

Too much is said about Uniteds defence we had the 5th best record last season, not great but not as bad as made out. An remember we've had the worst season in years, a midfield if Anderson and Cleverly offering no protection to the defence. Like Afro said you can have Hummels, Ramos, Silva in your defence but if the midfield offers no protection you'll concede.

Who said this (it's a corker):

"Cleverley is a key part of the current England side and has the ability and the mental attitude. He will be a key part of the Man Utd midfield for years to come. Wilshere was a decent midfielder who had a good run of form. But, right now, he's nothing. He needs to prove himself once more in order to get any sort of rating. If he does that, then around New Year I may rate him higher. But at the moment, I would have Cleverley in my team over Wilshere."

Hailovic, not sure I have heard of him even now... Wink

Viva, you said Evans has been United's best CB over the last four seasons. He's played an average of 20.5 league games a season. If Rio and Vidic weren't better than him, it either shows those two were massively over-rated by everyone, or Ferguson was an idiot. I don't think either of those are true. I think Evans has been, at best, your 3rd best CB over the last 4 seasons.

I stand by the Robben comment. I last saw him defend in 1807. He's a scandalously one-dimensional player. Even Berbatov occasionally gets stuck in. Not Robben. The second he gets to the halfway line, he stops moving.

Girls, I like them. If they're at least 30.

In Azzy's case 30 year olds are younger women.

I don't like 18 year olds, I was approached by one the other week and spurned her advances. Which was probably a dumb move. And I was hammered at the time so I could have blamed booze later if I'd wanted but I'm just too moral.

The girl I hired last year has blokes fawning over her. She's 26, but I cannot see any reason for blokes to be like that. She's highly irritating. Give me a mature, attractive, sexually predative 30+ woman any time.

I can only assume it was Nick who said that about Cleverley, surely not even Viva would be that biased.

He does seem to like a hooter.

How about Barbara Streisand, Azzy? Do her? She's got bugle to spare.
