Ed talking big. Good to see after the complete mess last summer. I'm hoping to see the back of:
Anderson
Bebe
Young
Nani
hernandez (for his own career)
cleverly
smalling
Coming in:
Vidal
Hummels
De Virj/vermaelen
depay
di maria - seems psg can't buy before they sell. Time to get in now, offer what real want and we get a world class player.

Hummels I'd love but I just can't see happening, from what I can gather he's just not keen on a move this summer.

He might not be but dortmund may if we offer a good price, especially with them signing ginter. I'm sure Hummels would be interested regardless but especially IF we sign vidal.

Plenty of chat coming from France saying that Nice and Arsenal have reached an agreement over Colombian keeper David Ospina.

Big talk from him.
It's probably
1) Anderson leaving (left out of pre season squad). What a disappointment he has been after such wonderful potential shown in his first 6 months.
2) a centre half coming in, vermaelan chat just won't go away (even though I wish it would).

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I remember one game where he played deeper in midfield and absolutely bossed Fabregas. Seemed to be a player who really needed a challenge to motivate his lazy self. Shame.
Sounds like Lovren will be done this week, as will Ben Davies to Spurs. Some rumours include Sigurdsson going in the opposite direction, other rumours have Vorm in the deal too but I can't see why that would happen.
Saying that, I think Swansea would do bloody well out of that. Davies isn't significantly better than Taylor and Sigurdsson would replace Michu and is proven to score goals on a regular basis. Southampton will likely replace Lovren with a cheaper option who is probably equally as good and move on. Real business in milking the bigger clubs.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
He definitely had his moments Dolph, did a similar job on Gerrard too but with Scholes, Fletcher, Carrick and Hargreaves found first team opportunities hard to come by in his first season and never recovered. Seemed to be forming a good partnership with Cleverley too in the early part of the 11/12 season. strange as it sounds now but got injured as he was hitting form.
Vorm leaving to sit on the bench at Spurs sounds odd, don't they still have Friedel on their books anyway, fair enough if he wants to leave but he could play first team football for most upper mid table sides.
You're last point is also very true, the lower teams replace their stars with players just as good so why don't the top teams go for them instead? Always baffles me.

Guess its the risk. You know Lallana is someone who has played and prospered in the league but will Dusan Tadic. I'd imagine Rodgers felt he needed at least one signing he knew could play in the Prem after some blunt moves in the foreign market

In fairness I wouldn't trust Rodgers in the transfer market, one of those guys that come across as being more of a coach than a manager.

Well, they are days away from two more proven performers in Remy and Lovren. Both decent. Remy will score goals, and gives them the option to play with two goalscorers rather than playmakers just feeding Sturridge

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Also Liverpool use a system in which Rodgers is only part of a transfer committee so no transfer failings can really be attributed to Rodgers, even if he has the final say. Liverpool have suffered over the last couple of years of going for a lot of the right targets but being pipped by bigger clubs who can offer more money and European football see Mkhitaryan, Willian, Salah last year, then having to settle for second options who haven't been as good.
Still, Sturridge for £12 million and Coutinho for £8 million are two fantastic signings. Mignolet looks good for a young goalkeeper and will likely get better. Sakho is also young and already a regular in the France side. I am fairly positive about the signings this year as well. Admittedly Borini, Allen, Aspas and Alberto haven't worked out and the loan signings last year were pretty poor as well but if the Borini to Sunderland deal goes through I think that can constitute a successful signing, same can be said if enough of the Aspas money can be regained. Alberto is still young and could make it and Allen showed last year he's a good squad option.

Looking like Arsenal have had a bid turned down for William Carvalho.
Utd need to hurry up and sort out the Vidal deal because Plans B etc will be all snatched up.

I dont understand why rodgers would go for lovren instead of hummels and lallana instead of kroos? they can offer champions league football now. They might not have prem experience but they are world cup winners and the cheaper options IF the majority of press reports are to be believed. If borini goes for £14mill that is one heck of a bit of business though!

Surprised Arsenal didn't go for Remy. He wanted to go and would have provided good pace/movement up front and a solid goals returns.
Arsenal's lack of quality CF's could be their downfall again. Don't understand why Wenger continues to ignore this area.

Albion in talks with Rosenborg over Costa Rica right back Cristian Gamboa. Has to be better than Hutton anyway. Andre Wisdom having a medical today.

Sanchez and Walcott will both get opportunities at CF, plus Joel Campbell is returning and there is the option of using Özil as a false 9. We'll only sign a striker if a top quality one becomes available

£15.9mil for Hummels has to be one of the most absurd rumours i've heard all summer, he must be worth at least double that.

Would also like to say what a pleasure it's been to have Evra represent Man United, was a vital part of a world class defence and despite regressing the past couple of seasons he was one of the few still playing for the manager. Good luck Patty.

good luck in italy pat, think you may be shocked that the italians actually expect you to defend

Surely now with Evra's deal finally being confirmed that Vidal to utd can't be too far away. Just can't see utd allowing Pat to leave if they weren't 99% sure Vidal was coming the other way.
I've said it before, but I think Vidal = Hummels. He'll come if he see's someone of Vidal's class signing, regardless of CL football. All about offering what Dortmund want.

Why would Evra have any impact on the Vidal deal. He was told to go once they signed a LB for 30m. He only went for 1.5m

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
The moment an offer came in for Evra and he said he wanted to leave we were never going to stand in his way, holidays and the like are delaying transfers a bit which leads to more unfounded and stupid rumours.
I think the BILD has summed up the Hummels situation perfectly; 'If a Spanish sports newspaper reports first on the transfer of a Germany international to an English club, a certain scepticism is entirely appropriate'.
Would love to see both Hummels and Vidal join but seems unlikely to me, one of the best defenders in the world and one of the best midfielders in the world, not going to happen.

Kleberson was class at the world cup in fairness and was pretty decent in Brazil when we signed him, was seen as quite the coup at the time.

Because those players wouldn't move to Liverpool. Kroos for £20 million is a steal but think that deal has to be to Madrid or possibly Barcelona because they would be very few clubs that Kroos would have left Bayern for. Liverpool having regained Champions League football after nearly five years out of it doesn't mean they can suddenly attract that kind of player.
Hummels is the same, he knows that he can be signed by Barcelona or Real Madrid or any club of that size, if not he can stay put at Dortmund.

how many times we heard that though? they havent done anything so far to impress me, willian is only there for helping out defensively, offers very little going forward. you might as well play a full back there in jose teams. in 25 games last season he set up two goals!!
oscar looks talented on his day, but so far has been very inconsistent. not done anything more than a robinho so far who was a massive flop.
