Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I'd take him over Mignolet overall, but not by a lot.
Liverpool need to improve both their bloody full backs. They've got decent enough centre backs, but probably the worst full backs of the top 6 or 7

I love Skrtel. Me and a mate had a running gag about him but last season he was great.

Confirmation of Ospina.
Rumors of Podolski & Santi leaving still going on apparently Douglas Costa to replace one them. Would be a good signing for anyone since wants out of Ukraine.

I prefer Agger, my least favourite is Sakho but he'll get better for time in the prem.

Scoring a few headers from corners doesn't make it a great season when you concede 50 goals

Odds they launch a massive overpriced bid on Wilfried Bony must extremely low now Apparently because he has a hole in his heart according to rumors

Back to Newcastle, we'll take him, like we did with Ba. Issue would be paying £15m, doubt that.

345k Rodriguez 10 shirts sold in the first 48 hours, and this is before he appears in Asia... The world's gone mad.

They've made £21.37m back from him already. £61 for a shirt in the real madrid shop

Can't argue with that.
I haven't bought a united shirt in years, possibly 10 - but if we made a marquee signing I'd probably get one.

Yeah, I ordered a Kroos 8 jersey myself. First Madrid jersey since Ronaldo 9 five years ago, and they've sold out too (Kroos 8, that is).

My son wants a Rodriguez shirt so they've certainly tapped into the minds of 8 year olds. I do get 44% off though at the Adidas website so not too bad.

QPR will be gutted: the 8 million transfer fee would have just about covered Ferdinand's wages!

I'd have bought a Kroos or Rodriquez one had united signed them
I won't get a Di Maria or Vidal one though (based on transfer links).
Strange how the mind works, think the last one I bought was Ronaldo in 04.

I put £5 on Wilfried Bony at 4/1 dropped to 1/1 since Remy news came out

How are you palming that turd off on us? Reminds me of when we threw silvestre your way.
Speaking of Mikael he seems to be back in with united, he was doing some bizarre djing on the american tour for some reason - at least I presume it was him.

I'd buy a Hummels shirt but not a Rodriguez one, buying a shirt of an overpriced and overpayed attacker isn't for me.

They've already signed one lump (Lambert), do they need another? I think Michu would have been a great signing for them.
I think that might be £5 well spent though

If I was to get a shirt this summer (and I've not bought a football shirt for myself for 15+ years) I'd get a Roma one as they look a really nice shirt this year with Iturbe on the back.

Roma doesn't have a shirt sponsor, which does help the aesthetic appeal of a shirt. Always nice to support the team without looking like a walking billboard. It's the reason my "James 6" sleeved Miami. jersey gets more attention than my Bwin.com emblazoned R9.

I got an RVP one when United signed him.
Last before that was Chicha 14.
Not sure what I'd get this season, waiting to see who we get, though would be tempted for Mata.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Well I've got last season's with Ravel on the back. And I've got a New Zealand one with Reid. I never usually get numbers n names but both were presents. I really like our kit this year, I'd probably get Nobes but I've got a real soft spot for Demel and I also think Zarate looks the nuts.

I'm not sure we will see much of mata under van gaal.
Rvp and welbeck up top with Rooney behind.

Based upon his friendly formations I'd expect the following:
------------De Gea-------------
---Jones---new CB---Evans---
Rafael--Herrera--new CM--Shaw
---------------Mata-------------
--------RVP---------Rooney----

Ent - Welbeck up top isn't the answer. RVP will probably endure periods of injury too. Rooney needs to play up top, stop coming so deep, allow Mata & Herrera to express themselves in behind. Agree Hero with most of that line up.

He was statistically Liverpool's best defender last season. Best season of his career too.
Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Evans would be central I reckon, seems to be the one impressing the most. Vermaelen or De Vrij either side (or possibly both).
Wouldnt be surprised to see Valencia instead of Rafael either.
Makes all the links to Cavani and Di Maria even more confusing, not sure either fit in.

Still don't think hes a smart enough defender. No chance in my mind that he organises his full backs. Poor man's Vidic

Think we'd be carrying mata.
I expect him to start the season in the first team then drop out. Doesn't have the athleticism or the attitude.
We were dropping into a 523 defensively, mata basically didn't press so Rooney and welbeck come in leaving the flanks brutally exposed. With him in the side I'd expect sides playing 442 to be kicking their lips.
