Saw this this morning, see what happens.
Norwich City striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel is set to sign for French club Saint-Étienne on a season-long loan deal, according to reports across the channel. Reputable newspaper L'Équipe says that the 25-year-old will undergo a medical today and that Saint-Étienne will pay his entire salary. The paper also says that Les Verts will have the option to buy van Wolfswinkel at the end of the loan for a fee of €6million.

Doesn't sound out of the realms of possibility, especially if St Etienne will pay all his wages.

Indeed they are, yet I'm at a wedding. I'll watch us lose to Malaga on sunday instead.
Hangeland was going to go to 1 of 3 clubs. I'd have taken him as 4th choice, I do think hes probably a classier defender than anyone in the Champ.

Kind of agree and disagree. If we stick with the wing back formation then yes we do need a defender and central midfielder as a priority over attacking players
but LVG said in his interview the other day he favours the 4-3-3 formation but doesn't have the 'special' players to play that way, basically our wide players are sh!t he may as well have said so being linked with the likes or Reus and Di Maria who can play out wide would be just as important as a defencer and centre mid if thats how he wanted to line up

Villa's off to Australia isn't he? Don't see where Fat Frank gets past Yaya, Fernando or Fernandinho centrally for any real playing time. They also need to play Milner more often this season, to make him sign that new deal. Pretty pointless deal.

Hangeland is fine. He's smart and will work well in a defence suited to him. I wouldnt wanna judge him on any sort of season with Fulham last year, that whole club was a mess.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
He's never had pace, so ageing won't really hurt him. Pulis just wants 'walls' at the back & be effective at set-pieces either end. Decent signing for a free, seeing as they could have paid £8m for Caulker, who is nothing special.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
What i will say on the lampard situation is do you really think that'll he'll play centre mid. i don't think he has the legs for it anymore so suspect it'll be a if we need a goal AM style role they don't really have that with Yaya further back nowadays & Silva doesn't score enough.

He was the vital cog in the worst defence in the league last year. Don't think you can apportion him of any blame because of what went on off the field

To be fair, he played 20 games. The team as a whole underperformed incredibly, as did the club in general. Pulis can manage a player like Hangeland.

Redmond played, but I'd seriously doubt you'll be coughing up the £10m + we want for him!!

Ruddy; Whittaker, Martin (c), Turner, Olsson; Johnson, Surman; Grabban, Hoolahan, Redmond; Lafferty.
Maybe he's after Scots in Whittaker & Martin Can't see WBA forking out another bunch of money for Redmond.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
As soon as Lampard joined the New York Red Bulls it was quite clear what was on the cards. I don't see why they don't just loan David Villa as well Man City. Its bad how clubs are allowed to do that because New York Red Bulls could just go and sign whoever they wanted, basically with Man City's money and then just loan them back out to Man City. City know that neither of Chelsea or Atletico would have sold Lampard or Vila to them, so they chose a different option. To lure a perfectly good side into buying these players, just to give them to Man City. I wouldn't take that as a Chelsea or Atletico fan personally.
They joined New York Red Bulls to go and play in America, so they should stick to that commitment, snub Man City and play where they wanted to play, not in the Premier League for Man City. They've made 2 big European and domestic rivals weaker whilst making themselves stronger. I'm amazed how they are allowed to do that, but, I suppose they haven't twisted the rules, so I suppose what they are doing is allowed, which is a shame. New York Red Bulls are Man City's feeder club though, they shouldn't be allowed to transfer their players to Man City, but the other way around. Man City should be allowed to put any of their players in the New York Red Bulls squad or loan any of their other players out to them as well for first team football experience. Then, once the loan has finished they can move them into NYRB's squad permanently or on a short term basis, loan them out again or sell them. If NYRB sign anyone of their own players, they should not be allowed to swap with any of their parent clubs, for example with Man City. So neither Lampard or Villa should be allowed to be loaned/signed by City, because NYRB signed them, not City (even though it is technically City's money). That's the only problem nowadays. The policy shouldn't be done that way. I think that is one thing in football that needs to be altered, as feeder/parent clubs are coming in much more frequently now.

They haven't signed for New York Red Bulls, they've signed for New York City FC. They can't play there yet, because that club doesn't join the league until next season. The MLS season starts in March.FootballLight wrote:They joined New York Red Bulls to go and play in America, so they should stick to that commitment, snub Man City and play where they wanted to play, not in the Premier League for Man City.

Don't see that happening. On Fer Adams says no bids have been tabled for him and he returns to training Monday.
My quid on RVW to be top scorer at 40/1 is wasted then

This post makes little sense. Both Lampard and Villa weren't wanted by Chelsea and Atletico. New York City didn't buy these players from the clubs as they were free agents.
Don't understand the point you're making about loans. Do you want to stop MLS players playing in Europe in their close season? This has been going on for years, the likes of Beckham, Keane, Henry, Cahill, Dempsey and Donovan have exploited this loophole, and I don't see how this is any different.

NYCFC don't play until March. Lampards choice was go to Australia and pretty much announce his international retirement, or play for City in the PL as a squad player and keep his options open.

Yeah, was quite worrying but yesterdays performance was very good vs Schalke. Cabella & Riviere scoring, looked good. Pardew thinks we can challenge the top clubs, doesn't help himself. Also being linked with Lascelles now.
