Question of the Week: Terrorism
First topic message reminder :
It has been 13 years since the war on terror began so the question I want to ask is this: Has the war on terror made the world (most notably western countries) a safer place?

Religion? Bunkum really, although the history is interesting.
I do have to pick Duty up over one thing though: in all your 1-4 methods of opposing religion you are arguing for state intervention are you not? So state intervention is not always a Bad Thing? And Free markets vs controlled immigration?
I agree and it was a point I picked up on earlier regarding the opposition of religion by the gov't and less gov't interference.
The immigration point you raised is also a good one. Controlled immigration = gov't interference.
Gets asked for proof, immediately changes the subject. Shows you he knows the square root of eff all.
I've just asked my dog if you was a whiny brat who obsess's over duty. He barked once which is proof enough that that's exactly what you are.
I'm sure your dog is more intelligent than C_S! He's probably less of a stalker as well!

I was told on the phone that to get Total Sports Max (SS 1+2 for £12) I would have to upgrade from a bronze pack to a gold pack. However I thought that if I signed up for a new 2 year contract I could get Total Sports Max? Was I wrong?

I bought five kilograms of bananas yesterday for the equivalent of £1.50. They're nearly done, and I've hardly had any. I love my girlfriend, but I think it's time she goes home, beginning to tee off on my food*. I mean, she's 50 kg soaking wet, how is this happening?

That was in 2011, clearly referencing that I'm under eighteen.

First post on that page.
There's some proper proof for ya.
So you lie on other forums about your age as well then.....
Try the BT forum which proves you lied about your age, O wait, you was asking for a friend because adult friends often ask 14 year old kids to sort out contractual disputes
You have a strange definition of a contractual dispute, when it were a simple price query. And it was on behalf of my grandmother, actually, who's computer literacy may let her down a touch.
First it was a friend and now your gran

Time to give it a rest now Columbo.
If you're that keen on delving through other poster's private lives, why don't you start an "Inspector CS investigates" thread, where you'll have free reign to uncover the skeletons in each poster's closet. You could look into whether Trussman really is as buff as he says, or whether Dave's serial killer interest masks something darker.
This all from a guy who boasted, and then refused to provide a link to, his Youtube super-channel as apparently it was too private/loaded with 'personal information'.
Ironic, much??

Re: Question of the Week: Terrorism
The trouble is Israel is committing horrendous acts in Gaze, killing thousands, mainly children and claim it to be self-defence. Israel absolutely has a right to defends itself as Hamas' greatest aim is to annihilate Israel. However, with the anti-drone system basically all of these rockets are intercepted. Israel then retaliate with enormous bombs devastating whole neighbourhoods and causing mass causalities. Its disgusting what Israel has gotten away with, especially the illegal settlements and removal of Palestinians from their homes. Its time for the world to come down strong on Israel for what they are doing.
On Iraq, I agree with the air strikes. The people there are helpless and are literally being hunted by ISIS members. The genocide of christians is horrific as well as the reported massacring of children. What a mess the middle East is in and allot of it comes down to pesky religion and a lack of education there. Real shame, we don't know how lucky we all are to grow up in this part of the world where at night we can sleep with ease knowing that a bomb won't hit our homes or terrorist troops won't storm our neighbourhood and kill everyone in sight.

Re: Question of the Week: Terrorism
Is it permanent this time?
And I am not sure why anyone should take sides in the Israel-Gaza conflict. Both sides are guilty of atrocities and murdering civilians.
As for America bombing ISIS...good for them. They (America) may have contributed to a lot of problems out in that region, but actively resisting the spread of militant Islam, the Nazism of our day, is a good thing.
I would not want their troops in on the ground though, or any NATO members for that matter, as that comes with too high a risk. Airstrikes? Fine.

Re: Question of the Week: Terrorism
Agree that both Israel and Hamas both have blood on their hands, but Israel is just a horrific country. Actively knocking down palestinian homes, displacing family's to make way for new settlements for Jews only, all in the name of God who apparently said its their land, again, religion playing a big part in allot of the modern day conflict we see. Ridiculous. There'll never be peace in the Gaza strip, never.
Agree with your point on air strikes and no ground troops. ISIS is a horrendous group, horrendous and i'm happy to see air strikes destroy any of their members.

Re: Question of the Week: Terrorism
Free Gaza and all that. There are really no sides to take, Israel is lighting up the Gaza strip for fun at the moment, and the lopsided casualty list just emphasises this. At the moment, the station I work for has half a news team in Israel, and absolutely no one in Palestine, they aren't even going to pretend to ask anyone.
As for Iraq, I don't trust as a rule of thumb, I look at anything the Yanks do in the middle East and wonder what they stand to gain. Lets not pretend Christians have only just started to be killed. 10, 000 killed by Boko Haram, and all they got was a message by Michelle Obama saying '#bringbackourgirls'. Apparently that's not a step too far yet. Wonder what Iraq has that Nigeria doesn't quite match up to.

Its because America are bent over and happily accepting Benjamin Netanyahu's shaft. Yes Israel has a right to defend itself, but their response has been totally disproportionate. Re: Question of the Week: Terrorism
The lopsided casualty list is because Palestine have inferior defences to Israel, not because they are any more innocent. A large proportion of Palestine rockets that are being fired into Israel are being destroyed by the latter's superior anti-air defences.
And if Gaza were free, and thusly became a more powerful nation state, I wonder how long it would be before they started waging war on Israel and Egypt?
I do agree, however, that more should be done to resist the advance of Boko Haram in Nigeria. Efforts so far appear to be rather minimal.
Oh religion, the greatest evil of mankind.

Re: Question of the Week: Terrorism
Appear to be rather minimal? There was a hashtag movement the likes of which the world hasn't seen since Kony2012... Surely that would have been enough to convince Boko Haram to cease? On a serious note, we all know the reality is that Nigeria simply doesn't offer enough of a reward for anyone to give a f.uck
Regarding Hamas, it just seems interesting to see how quickly perceptions shift... Presumably, you think Israel attacking an entire state is okay because Palestine is pro-Hamas? Am I right in assuming you'd be equally understanding if Hussein started blowing UK households and towns to shreds following the invasion under false pretenses? That was backed by the British public.

The situation is only being exacerbated by "ceasefires" which have been amusingly implemented - "Okay guys, Israel takes out one more neighborhood, then you stop fighting"... Shocker... Palestinians have broken the ceasefire, violent scum, Israel had completely stopped fighting... ad infinitum.

As I have previously said regarding the Israel-Palestine situation, I believe both sides are committing atrocities, and I have no support for either one.
And I believe America, along with Britain, have sent some intelligence officers to Nigeria in an advisory capacity to assist the Nigerian government. Like I say, minimal help, but it is some help.

There is a human element being butchered off here, and they deserve to have a side and their cause, taken up.
Oh goodie, intelligence officers... These wouldn't be the same strapping blokes who thought Mubarak was the good guy, and that the sands of Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, would they? Maybe they'll convince the president that Haram are a non profit organisation comparable to amnesty international.

Yes the human element, the civilian casualties of which my sympathies lie entirely with, exist on both Israel and Gaza, hence why I do not favour one side or the other. Both Israel and Palestine are commiting atrocities.

Re: Question of the Week: Terrorism
The world's a mess.
You have blood thirsty killers rampaging through Iraq. Really committing serious crimes. That nation has been destroyed. Life under Saddam does not look so bad now. What upsets me is the failure of US and UK in their attempt to ''make the world a safer place'' back in 2003.
Its not just that the war was based on lies and should not have happened but its the fact that the same old pattern reveals its self time and time again.
Under Saddam all these Iraqi groups lived and functioned together. I was no supporter of the man but he obviously had a way of finding a place for every sectarian group in that country. America went in and totally destroyed that. Did they not have a plan for the fall out after toppling Saddam? Seems they really did not put much thought into ''Iraqi freedom''.
The whole mess in Iraq is currently inherited by these butchers but if you want to get to the bottom of this than the blame lies with the Bush administration.

No but a friend of mine is and the funny thing is he was opposed to the war in 2003 because he knew the make up of the Iraqi people and knew that things would turn out as bad as it has. Like he said life under a dictator was not rosy but at least Iraq was a nation together and a secular one at that but if you took that security fence away like the US did then its royal rumble time.

You're definitely not a Kurd are you ??
No but a friend of mine is and the funny thing is he was opposed to the war in 2003 because he knew the make up of the Iraqi people and knew that things would turn out as bad as it has. Like he said life under a dictator was not rosy but at least Iraq was a nation together and a secular one at that but if you took that security fence away like the US did then its royal rumble time.
Must be a Lemon Kurd.....Ask your friend If he's heard of Halabja....Because I don't buy any Kurd that say's they didn't want to see Hussain swing !!!

Re: Question of the Week: Terrorism
Blair and Bush started this but where are they?
Why do we live in a world where third world dictators are hunted and killed in the name of democracy but western leaders can cause such destruction to a nation (based on lies) and can get away with it. Another round of golf for Bush and a fat cheque for Blair.
All we get is a cowboy and Indian story.

revolution is when you figure it out for yourself''

God I can't stand america
Why, what should they do in Gaza airstrike Israel or something? Both sides are attacking each other. Its not genocide in Gaza. Its heartbreaking and terrible for the ordinary people that as usual suffer the most, but their own leaders are as much (more so IMO) to blame as Israel.
