England went out mid June, he reported back 4 weeks later. He hadn't played a full game since before the World Cup.

Some people are naturally fitter than others, some have to work harder at it.

He's only 19 and only been at Southampton. Perhaps his usual pre-season fitness at Southampton was okay, but Van Gaal expects more.

Nothing in it in my mind other than personalised training.

On Shaw, it strikes me as one of two things: LVG is attempting to lower expectations on Shaw, or that Shaw has let himself go over the summer. If the former, then Shaw's morale will be at an all-time low today; if the latter, he will need to up his game considerably to get himself back in LVG's good graces.

Meanwhile, Patrice Evra is rubbing warm butter all over his six pack, and Arturo Vidal is leaning over him to lick it off.

What formation did you go with?
I hate the wait until results day to see what my opponent actually put out, I liked to see what they wrote immediately and then wait for the scores on it.

I went 5-4-1 pushing to a 3-5-2 when in possession going forward.
