England v India 4th Test, Old Trafford
First topic message reminder :
With the Anderson/Jadeja spat in the rear view mirror, we can all move on.
England name an unchanged squad, I'd be surprised if Plunkett didn't play, whether its at the expense of Jordan or Broad is the biggest question. Imagine they'll have planned on resting Broad at some stage.

Should allow for a fresh Broad if they need him tomorrow anyway.

Moeen Ali is making all the angst about the Great English Spinner Problem look a little overdone.
If he could just make some runs he'd make a decent all rounder
Anderson off , wickets notwithstanding. Woakes has another chance...

Given the way tails are piling on runs these days we shouldn't assume anything yet.

Dhoni helping himself to some short rubbish from Woakes. Think the young man is getting too excited in trying to get into the action ?
Should settle and get back to targeting top of off. Dhoni wants to counter attack , so he might well find an edge...

fair bit of rubbish from Woakes here, all over the place. Fine trying to bounce Ashwin out, but need to stop with the short stuff to Dhoni...

CaledonianCraig wrote:Hmm sixteen wickets alrweady down in a day and a half's play. The pitch is lively and is bringing four wickets a session so unless another two days of play is lost from here (even taking into account Hurricane Bertha that is very unlikely) then the draw is still the least likely result at the moment. Tomorrow is set fair and it is likely England will declare or be bowled out with a lead in the region of 150. Now that may be around lunch tomorrow or tea if lead is around 200. That gives England a session at India tomorrow and if they cause another collapse then India could still be 100 runs adrift with perhaps four wickets down. Leaves England a day to get middle order and tail-enders out on Monday even if Sunday is washed out.
Hmm pretty accurate eh?

Might need Broad back to break this partnership.

Moeen does it again. Credit to Cook, kept the field in close, Dhoni tempted, and gets a thick inside-edge to Ballance at mid-wicket who takes a very fine catch. Very good cricket all round from England, who now have a great chance of wrapping things up tonight.

Re: England v India 4th Test, Old Trafford
that might just be a big wicket. Not so much in the context of this game, but for Jordan's Test career. He's been a bit all over the place again, but gets one in the right area to Kumar, who aims a quite frankly silly drive on the up at it, and edges straight to Bell at second slip. England just two wickets away now...

India once again showing no fight, Moeen outclassing Jadeja once more, and England are wiping the floor with the visitors.
Jolly good stuff.

Suicidal running from India. Kumar's out now, no reprieve. Throwing it away

and now a run out. Good work from Moeen, but that's absolutely shocking running from Kumar, should really have been two...

don't have to bother checking the front foot for a run out of course
now it really is just two more wickets needed for England.

Two to go! England will get an extra half-hour if need be, so it should be finished tonight.
Delighted to see India getting stuffed again.

Indian batsmen showing a lack of spirit and fight when the going has got tough. Same predicament England were in down under.

Be nice to see Jordan get the last two. Sort of like to see him stay in the team just for his ( excellent) slip catching...but his bowling frailties are making it a tough call...

Well , without quite sharing the slightly "angry edge" (?) in your post , Duty , I do wonder if they rather lost their focus with all the aggro over Anderson ...
And I will be delighted to see England making it two wins on the trot after the long lean period. Still need to win at The Oval though to claim they're back in town.
Still two wickets to take here , too...but you'd fancy it from here

Re: England v India 4th Test, Old Trafford
It is all that aggro with trying to get one of our players banned, plus their insistence to remain in the Dark Ages with regards to technology, that makes me rather glad that they are not on the winning side.
Good old England.

Can I just point out for those slating Woakes and Jordan (okay so they haven't been great) that many moons ago another England pace bowler struggled badly when he first came into the side for line and length etc and fans were on his case calling for his head. His name......Jimmy Anderson.

i'd bring Stokes back in for the last test. Haven't been impressed by Jordan these last two tests bowling wise.

Jordan does get a wicket with a nasty bouncer which Aaron can only glove through to Buttler, still doesn't look quite right does Jordan though...
England just one away from another thumping win, what a turnaround since Lords.

Take your point , Craig. But it is hard to justify their places when they can't take wickets , and other pretty fair bowlers (Plunkett , Stokes , Finn ? ...Bresnan maybe ) are queuing up...
But as I type , Jordan has one...and two !
Innings win

and Jordan finds a great yorker which is way too good for Pankaj Singh (a proper n°11), England win. India hammered.
