A great technical brawl?
Something akin to Duran Barkley
Appreciate an early response because a friend is coming down and want to introduce him to boxing as an art but still a great fight to watch

Re: A great technical brawl?
I always thought Castillo/Coralles although overshadowed by the drama of the tenth was a great technical inside brawl throughout. Lot of great technical skill going on in the centre of the ring.

Cotto Margarito 1? Interesting fight technically as you have Margarito walking him down and Cotto countering off the ropes, dramatic swing and plenty of leather thrown.

Nelson v De Leon.
People who don't find that exciting simply don't understand boxing.

Leather and whatever else was in Margarito's gloves.
Manny vs Marquez has a great deal of technical quality throughout most of their fights and are very exiting to watch. Some of the decisions might turn the guy off boxing though.

Re: A great technical brawl?
Toney-Jirov (you knew I had to shoe horn the salad dodger in there, but seriously, it's a worthy candidate!) and the first Holyfield-Qawi fight. Both out and out wars but also really technical with the different styles of both men blending perfectly to help enhance the other man's skills.
As bellchees says above, Marquez-Pacquiao isn't a bad shout. I'd probably go for their second one. The second Winstone-Saldivar fight also fits the bill pretty well and the Trinidad-Vargas fight, while primarily a hard-hitting shootout, had some bits of really classy skill and quality thrown in between.

To be fair, most are more familiar with the alias "Evan Fields".

Sorry, alleged alias. Quite unfortunate for a professional athlete to have a similar name, similar address as well as share a birth date and ostensibly a cell phone with a faceless steroid user. Some guys just can't catch a break.

Indeed... The cruel twists of fate that besmirch the names of the innocent, know no bounds.

One of my wives hit me with an adjustable wrench once. Does that count?

Re: A great technical brawl?
For it to classify as a brawl you'd need to have hit her back john. Given I presume you were unconscious I suspect that you suffered a technical knockout john.
In the record books as Wayne tko1 Wayne.
Something similar happened to me when my ex laid me out with a Hoover (actually true that one!). I was caught by a sucker punch.

Re: A great technical brawl?
Once, before I grew twelve inches and gained 45kg, I was a wee lad, and some girl, a netball player type, very statuesque, slapped me around, she slapped me all the way home... I definitely did a lot of running, and she did a lot of hunting down, teeing off... think that meets the criteria?

No. It was an upright european style. She caught me with a good shot, but if I'm honest, I made a bit of a miele of it.

Haha, well, I didn't grow twelve inches from 6'2!! Musta been around 4'11-5'0 55-60kg at the time, a chubby little thing. She was quite merciless, is all I remember. My poor younger sister saw her big brother get massacred, though, I put together some excellent feints, and ducks.

Re: A great technical brawl?
Milky, I was the the first to start reigning in blows before getting levelled with the wrench, so I think it should count.

Re: A great technical brawl?
Commendable to get your retaliation in first john, but schoolboy error to fall for the old wrench counter. Have you learnt nothing from all your years of marriage?

I've been there too. Except with a Welsh shot putter! To be honest I was massively overmatched and anyone with any compassion would have stopped it early! I'll never try and step up that many weight divisions again. Nice girl, mind.

Cheers Dipper. I too, was hopelessly overmatched... I lacked the athleticism, or nous to do anything. It was like an version of Klit-Mormeck.

Toney-Jirov is one of my favorite fights. Proper boxer v brawler (the way Jirov fought) fight.

Marrying the elderly for their wealth does have its down sides, especially when they're poor and in care.

Re: A great technical brawl?
Especially when their "wealth" is essentially a collection of ceramic cats that they think might be worth a few quid cos some old dear sold something similar not so long ago on bargain hunt for £25 so if you multiply that by the seemingly endless collection of tat she'd got scattered around the place, you could live like a King (if King lived in penury screaming obscenities at the unfairness of being lumbered with a doddery old f*ckwit as a wife in the hope she'd leave him with a few bob after she'd shuffled off this mortal coil)
