Feel sorry for Calderwood. 16 players, all pash, all out of contract at the end of the year and Pettrie tightening the screw.

Aye, got to agree with you there mate. Team doesn't even look slightly interested in playing at the moment. You are for sure in the relegation battle if things don't pick up in the next couple of weeks. Still no goals in 2011 :pale:

Who have you been linked with? Not really seen much transfer speculation other than the Dons stuff. Pretty sure I read you had been linked with a Ross County midfielder? You can take Jerel Ifil & Darren Mackie off our hands if you want?

Got to say that Craig Brown and Archie Knox have done an awesome job in lifting the Dons players, it's similar in a way to what King Kenny has done at Liverpool (yep I'm a Liverpool fan too!). Can I ask though Steve, do you think it's a case of Brown & Knox coming in and working a bit of magic, or do you reckon it's more to do with the fact that they're NOT Mark McGhee & Scott Leitch? By that I mean do you think anyone could have done what Brown & Knox have done, that the players simply needed anyone other than McGhee & Leitch managing them?

KB I've always had a soft spot for the Hibees because my dad supports them and I think it's such a shame that Rod Petrie is more concerned with the numbers than what happens on the pitch. Calderwood appears to be in over his head at the moment, I wonder if he'll be given or wants to be given time to turn it around? Then again if you ain't got the players you can have all the time you like and not get anywhere.

I've been a celt all my life but find myself falling out of love with the game in Scotland somewhat. The quality of the product seems to have fallen dramatically over the years. (Where have I heard that before??)

I have to admit that being from Aberdeen I have a soft spot for the Dons. I'm delighted to see CB and AK turn things around! I do think that Y2 is right though. Teams pick up the traits of their managers. MM didn't seem to care about being there; and I think that despondancy filtered into the team.

I have been in Glasgow now for 12 years and what you said there is so true.

The quality for the last two years has been woeful - I can't bear to watch it anymore. I told myself that I would never get my children to support an old firm team so chose Dundee Utd as they were playing some nice football under Levein but I can't even be bothered to watch them anymore.

My closest club is Clyde at Broadwood (where I sometimes play 5s).

What do you guys think about Riordan to Rangers if it happens?

I honestly don't think it will. I think it is just paper talk because Rangers have sold Miller and need a proven SPL goalscorer to fill the void.

I'd be worried that if it did happen he would drag Stokes back in to the nightlife scene that dogged them both at Hibs.

Riordan is a player with a lot of potential. His attitude is terrible though and that is what lets him down.

I hope it doesn't happen to be honest. He's a great wee player on his day but as DT mentioned his attitude is terrible.

It's a tough one because you think to yourself maybe he'd buck up his ideas this time around as it's probably his last chance, or maybe Walter Smith would be the man to sort him out, but I wouldn't want to take a chance on him.

What do you think KB? Reckon he could make a go of it if he went to Ibrox?

I think it would be a poor effort on the Hibs board if he does go.

I think he should learn his lesson from his ventures to Glasgow last time. He's a quality striker on his day and he's got more talent than he lets on. His problem is he has carried Hibs and constantly been let down with the way the transfers work.

You look at the team that one the Scottish League Cup, Brown, Thompson, Whittaker, Murphy and then see who they been replaced with, Rankin, De Graaff, Miller, Van Zanten, it's been awful.

If he goes Hibs will struggle, and so will Pettries pockets. Deeks may have an attitude problem but he's our *spit* Skacel.

I was at ER when he took him out of the game in November and even for that challenge the fans love him.

I know this would be a fair while back but what did Hibs fans make of my fourth cousin Ivan Sproule?

I would hear a right few stories about players like Lafferty, Roy Caroll and him from their time in the local league (Fermanagh and Western).

They all seem arrogant.

Lafferty is a complete Ned. Can't stand him.

Alot of the Irish lads that come over often hit the wrong scenes!

Even the Rangers fans I know cant stand him!

Think Queen of the South had a keeper from round our end.

The McGhee period was the worst I have experienced as a Dons fan. He was instantly lacking in respect from the players after his comments on wanting the Celtic job rather than coming to Pittodrie and that he felt his playing squad was better at Motherwell. Total numpty. However, to answer your question I really don't think anybody could have done as good a job in such a short space of time than what Brown & Knox have. They have instantly demanded the respect for the players & they have them playing with confidence again. Can't have seen the likes of John Hughes & Gus MacPherson getting that sort of respect. Seriously happy with the turn around & hopefully we will have a cup final on the cards come Monday morning



To the Riordan question, he'd be a huge flop at Rangers just like he was at Celtic. If he joined them he & Lafferty would have some wild nights. Lafferty in my eyes is the Ricksen of this generation. A complete k-nob

Im a don, was you at the game yesterday Steve? Heard the second half was a vast improvement.

Yeah, I was at the game Legless. We were awful in the first half, and Craig Brown got his tactics horribly wrong. He seriously needed to bring in a new centre half this transfer window as Diamond & Vujadinovic were both absolutely dreadful. Really don't see how anyone can rate Diamond as a player.

The second half was like watching a completely different Aberdeen and we gave Celtic some problems. Hopefully a trip to Pittodrie mid week won't be as painful to watch.

As for the fans that left after 35 minutes. Disgrace

most fellow rangers fans think aberdeen raise their game against us, but i dont think thats true. from the games ive watched i think rangers create their own problems against aberdeen infact against most teams. look at yesterdays match against motherwell. we let them play and didnt press the ball at all...any way ...what is aberdeens problem???

We lost Alex Ferguson & the Ugly Sisters started spending ridiculous amounts of money. We couldn't cope. A lot of fans live in the past and expect us to be challenging for cups & leagues every season. I personally think we should have never gotten rid of Jimmy C but that is my view. The SPL is on a very steep decline

Did hear that brown went with 5 3 2 and didn't seem to be working. I managed to catch a stream after I got home from my foot ball but what was Derek Young doing at the free kick. The other goals were quite pitiful to be honest and very slack. As for Zander the less said the better but least we have got rid of Ifil so hopefully Diamond follows soon.

See we have signed Steven Smith which at least will give us another proper full back.

As for the fans leaving early I do agree but do sympathise a little especially as it was only two months ago we got destroyed at Parkhead and I was worried it was going to happen again. Still not something I would have done.

Diamond was abysmal. Wish he could have landed another decent centre half but hopefully that will come in the summer. Ifil going is another boost & trims the wage a little bit.

Smith should be a cracking signing for us, lacking in a good left back. The youngster Jack should be starting at every opportunity and looking forward to Fyvie returning also.

As long as we stay up I shall be happy and we can judge Brown when he has a full season under his belt.
