Pakistan in Lanka
T1 started and Pak after being usual 3 down for 50.....had their usual recovery through Misbah and Younis 160-4 now
it's an interesting series...Lanka are strong at home and Pakistan are the strongest bowling side in the world...I put them ahead of SA because they have spin-power in addition to their usual supply line of pacers

Re: Pakistan in Lanka
Unfare to have Sanga in there KPF.
Anyways good recovery from Pak, but Sri Lanka, due to those early strikes, are pretty much in the game.
Not too sure the Pak pace line has the same class as the usual ones they produce. At least there is not much of experience although Junaid certainly is world class already.

he never scored overseas until he toured Eng recently...but that's because Eng makes dead sub continental pitches these days

Re: Pakistan in Lanka
Weve had this debate before and his quotes were proved to be wrong.

So hes behind only Kallis in Africa
Struggled in the W.I without doubt but only played 7 innings.
Equal to Ponting and better than Kallis in England
Better than them in Oceania.
Great in Asia (but that doesn't count as he only a FTB, lol)
FTB my Arse! He may not be the best but he's up there with his piers.

Re: Pakistan in Lanka
you take the diffrenece in averages ...between in ( Lanka+ BD) and outside and the diffrence stands at about 9 runs.
Tendulkar, Dravid, Kallis...this diffrence is zero or negative

YOUR AT IT AGAIN. THAT WAS RUBBISHED IN THE OTHER THREAD.
The reason that figure is nine and lower for the other is because his average is much higher at home not because its lower away!!!
I'll refer to the post I made in the other thread.
Yes they do. Because their home average is lower. You can't criticise a batsman for having a greater home/away differential because he averages the same away and a lot more at home than players you say are better. How is that fair or sensible.
If Sanga was averaging 40 away you'd have a point but he isn't.
Batsmen: Home Avge Away Avge
Tendulkar 52.67 54.74
Kallis 56.73 53.91
Sanga 63.27 53.82
Dravid 51.35 53.03

Re: Pakistan in Lanka
That average difference is telling in the case of players like Mahela, but Sanga's overall record away is very very good, and so can't be classified as an FTB.
Anyways another ton from Sangakkara today and Mahela has a half-century before rain arrived to curtail the day with Sri Lanka comfortably placed in response to the Pakistan first innings score. A draw seems most likely at this stage.......

A good test when my favourite batters score tons. Go Kumar and Younis.

Re: Pakistan in Lanka
Sangakkara will be a welcome addition to our HoF when he calls it a day.
Exactly where he ranks in the Pantheon I am happy to leave until then.
But he is a wonderful player . To call him a FTB is frankly ridiculous.

Re: Pakistan in Lanka
Our HoF unfortunately, has been forced to call it a day before Sangakkara is to do the same on his career perhaps in the next 2 years.alfie wrote:Sangakkara will be a welcome addition to our HoF when he calls it a day.

Our HoF doesn't include Sachin Tendulkar and Jacques Kallis!!.......

Re: Pakistan in Lanka
Looking like a Sri Lankan win as the ninth Pakistan wicket falls...
Only 96 ahead ...and twenty five overs left.

Re: Pakistan in Lanka
Sri Lanka are the team for last minute finishes, the've made it their thing, and yet again they came out on the right side and yet again their skipper was there to get them to that finish line.
Sri Lanka chased down 99 in 16 overs, seconds before the rain came porring down. They had to originally win in 21 overs, but had to account for the bad weather, and they did it so very well.......

Re: Pakistan in Lanka
Angelo Matthews record with the bat as captain is simply staggering. He's averaging something incredible. Apparently only the 11th time in Test cricket that a side making 450 or more has gone on to lose.
Long-suffering England fans will recall Adelaide in 06/07 when England made 550 and lost - doing so after being 100 ahead with NINE wickets left at the start of the last day. Shows that anything can happen in five-day matches.

Murali did. Don't think Mushtaq did. Probably hopping on the Senna bandwagon.

The magician will be cleared again. I'm not really sure if he chucks or not (Well, if he chucks to an acceptable degree or not), but the method of testing seems easy enough to navigate.
