Keeper Rules
- 3 players per year max.
- Can keep players twice (so three years total per guy) before forcible release.
- Players take the value of their draft round in the first redraft.
- Players move up in value by 5 rounds for the second redraft, or as high as they can go otherwise.
- If you end up with stacked picks (multiple players as keepers who count as the same round) they build up backward. e.g. if my keepers are draft picks 3, 4 and 5, I would lose draft picks 3, 4 and 5 in the first redraft and 1, 2 and 3 in the second as each player would be upgraded to an effective 1st rounder by the 5 round rule and therefore stack up.
- Undrafted players are valued at round 10 for the first redraft.
- Traded players initially count as there drafted position with the +5 rule in effect for all subsequent years.
- Years of eligibility are team specific, based on the round value of the player when traded to you. e.g. if a player is drafted in round 12 and is kept by another team for one season they will be valued as a round 7 pick when traded in year two due to the +5 rule.
- Abuse of the above rule by trading away a player over the keeper period only to get them back afterward will invalidate the resetting of two year eligibility.
- Once a player has no eligibility left on a given team they will count as a 1st rounder if traded away to somebody else and retained

Can't believe I won that match up vs pr4wn's team
was about 15 points down going into last night then Desean J out scores Garcon and Harvin who had 3 TD's chalked off

To be fair, I don't think my team is as obviously dominant as BamBams was at the end of last year

Made a decent start last night though... with that sort of performance from Ivory, it looks like it might be your week.

I suppose strategy is a bit different in a keeper league, especially when it looks like you're out of contention.BamBam wrote:Couple of interesting trades gone through I see.. Lopsided imo

They are interesting... i'm not much of trader, so when I see these I kind of wonder why don't I gamble on more trade offers just to see if someone bites because of the keeper element

So close yet so far... I retain my highest weekly score for the league thanks to some defensive ineptitude from my own team

Its the classic Keeper league problem. A team that is basically out of it, trades two nominally "better" players, to a team very much in contention for a young up and comer with loads of potential and a very high round keeper tariff.
In that sense it makes sense...

Nah. Maybe if it was just one player trade it would have been fair. Not sure it needed an RB1 and WR1.

Re: 606V2 Keeper League 2014 – NFL.com Fantasy Football Homepage
It is an unfair trade in terms of the players I agree, but crazy_dave has pretty much got my logic down
Also, I will likely be picking in the top 2 or 3, and won't be keeping either of those guys there so makes no difference to my roster for next year.
I also think many of the top running backs can't be kept for next year, meaning I'll definitely be looking at drafting one of those
It is the problem with keeper leagues, I reckon the only way to get around it is to move to more of a dynasty style league with more keepers with less prohibitive rules on the rounds they are kept

I can understand the logic behind the trade and don't have a problem with it.
Also, it doesn't come close to my Aaron Rodgers + Adrian Peterson for RG3 trade a couple of years which had the same logic behind it as BamBam applied to this trade..... didn't quite work out for me though... to say the least!

Right, that's my team name changed. Under the circumstances it was no longer tenable to have a name that trumpeted Robert Griffin III's arrival in the league. So, say hello to:-

Main post is updated including next years draft order for 8 of the 12 teams... mikeygnfl is picking first overall.
As far as the playoffs are concerned, its interesting that of the 4 playoff teams, 3 were in the bottom four last year, missing both the main & consolation playoffs - a big turnaround... although the 4th user in that bunch was mikeygnfl and that didn't go so well for him!

Re: 606V2 Keeper League 2014 – NFL.com Fantasy Football Homepage
I think I need to go for a different approach next year and try and draft some top players rather than looking for break out players. I went 3-1 through weeks 1-4 but the likes of Allen, Patterson, Sproles have pretty much been all busts since then. At least I've got Johnny Manziel for next year.crazy_dave23 wrote:Main post is updated including next years draft order for 8 of the 12 teams... mikeygnfl is picking first overall.

Question: I have McCoy but have to release him this year because of the three year rule. Does this mean it would be pointless for someone to trade for him? eg If i traded him now would the other team have to release him before the draft?

Technically you could trade them (but with no eligibility left they would count as a 1st - McCoy would anyway)... however I think the trade deadline passed so this is too late!

not sure about CM Punk, but what I do know is that my team this year has been awful...
just realised that my highest scoring player (QB's excluded) is my KICKER
I promise to do better next year if i'm allowed back
