First topic message reminder :

such a shame Strootman got injured before the world cup. Think he'd be at the club otherwise. He should have been here last summer along with thiago but we ballsed it up and ended up with fellaini.

Rooney shouldn't be occupying that space passing it on to an overlap. He is drifting deep into the hole so rvp van be move forward.. Rooney needs to be the front line player. He will score. RVP doesn't look fit. Mata needs to be in the hole. Mata can not play as a cm.

Mata was no 10 first half and did nothing.

He does nothing where ever he plays. It's like having 10 men.

What a surprise, ball to mata, check onto left peg, over hit a lofted pass.

Predictable- get him off.

Agree with Mysti. Mata and Di Maria are playing as CMs, with Fletcher as the hodling midfielder. He has been toilet regardless.

Solid debut. He certainly didn't look any worse than the rest of the team (admittedly not a compliment...). Where's Adnan?

How he pulled his hamstring doing nothing I'll never know.

Yeah, cos I didnt know their names...

There's no movement, RVP is looking god awful, the wingers offer nothing and the pace of pass from some of these players is so atrocious.

What wouldn't United give to go back to 2009 and invest in rebuilding their squad properly.

Now it's a crisis, play four at the back and we might start grinding some results out, it clearly isn't working and we can't afford to wait three months.

One of the most worrying things for United is this is going to be their easiest portion of the season, the big teams have yet to come.

October starts with Everton & then followed by Chelsea, Man City & Arsenal. LVG better start scraping his 'philosophy', start playing 4 at the back, drop Mata & play Januzaj & Di Maria on the wings.

What a mess at the minute.

Play a diamond, get Shaw and Rafael fit and United will look a different side.

If this lethargy continues I'd put money on Liverpool putting 5 past them

The problem with Mata is hes a luxury player. Jose saw this immediately and punted him out the side. United don't have a side good enough to carry him at present.

Also doesn't help that LVG has taken the Gerrard/Lampard approach to RVP, Rooney and Mata. Its 2 from 3 really but for all the reputation and hype, hes tried to avoid making a decision that needs making.

Playing Mata would work once the team has confidence to go out and play but at the moment we need to set up to win by any means with 11 players who will put a shift in. Drop him for the time being then bring him back once our form improves.

I wouldn't get carried away with Swansea after three games. Look who they've played, WBA are awful, so are Burnley & everyone takes 3 points away from Old Trafford. Don't get me wrong, they are a good solid side with potent strikers in Bony/Gomis but I fully expect them to drop down the league & United to finish above them, come May.

As for NUFC, if we don't buy a striker in the next 48 hours, we're in trouble.

Tell me about it. I expect Pardew will go to Ashley tonight demanding a striker & will get no response. Few games down the line, Pardew out the door. Horrific start, if we lose this

I would say they are a top 9 side and could nick 7th as they showed in the season before last. I think the UEFA cup just killed them. and man united may not beat that 7th spot.

Puncheon.. 2-1

Diego Costa starts.

I forgot to put him back in my team after hearing he may play so need Wanyama to stay on the bench for Saints so Costa will be promoted after the points are done after the weekend.
