First topic message reminder :
such a shame Strootman got injured before the world cup. Think he'd be at the club otherwise. He should have been here last summer along with thiago but we ballsed it up and ended up with fellaini.

Martinez's Wigan sides were always slow starters too..Crimey wrote:Dolphin Ziggler wrote:Not sure how you can justify that, Crimey, they are going toe-to-toe and their start was definitely the problem
They only played six games, lost them all and have clearly ran out of gas in all of their first three games. This one is not as pronounced as the first two, but still definitely there.

I had them as favourites before the season started and after only three weeks it seems apparent that they a cut above. Mourinho just personifies confidence.
City are the strongest team in terms of player quality but I feel will have lost the hunger and spark they had last year. Liverpool without Suarez = No PL title. Wenger seems to have developed a phobia of winning the league given his reluctance to buy a quality CF and CDM. United may eventually click but it will probably be too late by then.

yeah, jagielka has had a horror start to the season. always thought he did a decent job in pl, but he seems too of carried on from his woeful wc performances. him & distin need replacing sharpish.
as for costa, whatever he hits just seems to go in. can see him banging 25+ with ease at this rate. city had a slow start last year, so not counting them out after today's defeat. definitely a two horse race though. thoroughly enjoyable sky match today, whereas BT have had back-to-back 0-0's

I still can't believe Arsenal didn't sign Cesc, you don't turn down players of that qualirysocal1976 wrote:Credit to Chelsea, can't say they are boring this year. Him vs Neil Warnock, battle of the complete wan*ers
West Brom should sack there failed league one manager soon as and bring in Tony Pulis, he won't be available for ever.

West Ham looked awful then. When are they going to get rid of that slob. Another team that could do with getting Pulis whilst he is available.

Fully agree here Olly, I mean we could have even gone with a false number 9 role for Cesc Barcelona played that way for half the season when Messi was injured. It really hurts to see him in the blue of Chelsea when he made it clear he preferred to return to us. You make room for a Fabregas even if it means Ox, Santi, or Wilshere have their playing time hurt. Also should have pulled the trigger on Balotelli as well as big a risk as he was. You don't let Chelsea take Fabregas I don't care how many quality central midfielders you have.

I think Fabregas made it clear that he did want to go back and Wenger said his position was filled. He wasn't out of our price range by any means and we know loyalty means a lot to Cesc as far as modern footballers are concerned he became the player he was at Arsenal and spent 8 years there. Neither you nor I can read his mind, but that is what he stated quite publically. And from a Wenger prospective that is the one position we have an abundance of riches.

If he was loyal or loved arsenal he wouldn't have left, especially after achieving bugger all with the club.
He showed loyalty to his wallet leaving his home town club for arsenal in the first place.
No way he was turning down Chelsea for arsenal.

Nathan Dyer consistently good, scores goals and has done for three premier league seasons now. Never in the frame for an England call up. Amazing really when all Andros Townsend did was hit a long shot in and he got in

I think its that mentality that players that play for the 'lesser' teams shouldn't get a call up.
Dyer deserves a chance.
Good to see guys like Coleback and especially Delph(totally deserved), get their chance.
Not an England fan, but good to see some new faces in the squad.

I like Naismith, this season and the tailend of last season he's been like a Scottish Thomas Mueller.
Balotelli starts, Lallana doesn't. Skrtel and Johnson both injured.
Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Manquillo, Moreno, Lovren, Sakho, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Sturridge, Balotelli

Spuds XI: Lloris; Dier, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Rose; Bentaleb, Capoue; Chadli, Eriksen, Lamela; Adebayor.
Shall be an interesting game, You turned them over easily last year but Pochettino got some joy against you and so will be good to see how it goes.
Im going Liverpool 4-2 Spuds

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
I would have thought it will be a diamond formation, but it's possible it could be 4-3-3 with Sturridge out wide which would be a mistake in my opinion or possibly even a 4-2-3-1 with Allen and Gerrard deeper, Henderson on the right, Sterling on the left and Sturridge playing as a second striker which is marginally better, diamond is probably best but do feel like it hurts the width of the team, especially as Balotelli isn't going to drop off into wide positions like Suarez did.

Actually like the look of Liverpool's bench:
Jones, Enrique, Toure, Lambert, Coutinho, Can, Markovic.
I know some will laugh, but that bench looks the best that Liverpool have had in a long time. Can't remember the last time when Liverpool had conceivably 4-5 players capable of changing the game from the bench.
Last year the bench usually looked like:
Jones, Toure, Agger, Allen, Moses, Aspas, Lucas

We will go 3rd with a win, as long as Spurs lose.
Need to get the win, going into a 2 week break.
Same team again.
Would have liked to see Bent start. Gabby or Weimann need dropping.
