Commentators talking between rounds these days ..... Stop it !!

The good old days when I was growing up......When we used to walk to school because cars weren't invented !!.......Commentators/Fight callers never talked between rounds....It enabled the viewer and the caller a chance to gauge just how panicked a corner was...The tactice they were employing and generally how worried a corner were......Also gave prospective employers a chance to see a professional or unprofessional corner at work..

These days especially over here all you hear is bottom-licking crap from Halling and watt (who seems to be selling out more and more each show) !!....It's becoming prevalent in fairness everywhere !

I was in awe of the job Duff did for Mugabi and Honey in their fights........I always admired Booth's calm demeanor and his way of instilling confidence in a struggling fighter...

Remember Reid's passionate speech to Tate after 8 against Nunn...........and of course Dundee's great come on for Leonard against Hearns..Remember Duva telling Taylor he needed the last round !!

Corner work is an art in itself...............So let's get a chance to watch it and listen !!.............Sure we need commercials these days but in the few seconds between the come back on air and the bell let's hear some advice !!

Shut up between rounds..............You can bore us all in the three mins of fighting !!

It annoys me greatly when the commentators apologise for the "language" used in the corners between rounds. Who is quite happy to watch two men knock the crap out of each other but would get offended by a sound made by someones mouth in between rounds?

I'd happily insert Halling and Watt into a rocket and fire them into the sun.

Completely agree, they repeat themselves enough anyway. Ring walks too, they need to learn when not to talk. To be honest though, it's probably the producer not the commentators making the decision.

On some of the ESPN fights, they say "let's listen in to the corner with our translator" (if needed of course) and it gives you a great insight as to how they think its going.

I remember the pacquiao vs jmm 3 fight and roach was saying go for the KO "son" and Jmm corner saying take it easy you have won!

But yeh, halling in general is annoying.

You have to remember that cornermen tend to use rather juicy words to g their men up. Hence why commentators talk between rounds.

Have to remember that all main events start past the watershed over here..........around 10pm...

Plenty of juicy words in movies on at that time..

True but I don't think the networks want to lose any customers who have issues with the type of language being spoken.

I don't think that is the reason at all................HBO/NBC/ABC/CBS/ESPN fights generally are aired or they used to be at primetime..........They just apologised..........Swear words aren't that common.....You can hear managers scream F**k off watching Soccer at 4pm on Sunday.

Just in a time where Commentators need to bluster all the time......

but you can never tell WHAT will be said in the corners. Can remeber Ann Wolf using some very choice words for James Kirkland against Tapia. The commentators were quick to apologize and we never heard from Mrs Wolf again after that.

I don't agree with you Mate...........Think commentary has changed....

But not because of the language.

I won't mind if the Sky pair only commentated between rounds.

Anyway, be nice to hear Jim Watt blathering on about how a fighter won a round only for him to shut up for sixty seconds and hear the cornerman saying how his man just got his butt kicked instead and needed to get a grip

My favourite peice of inept / laughable / hopelessly optimistic and deluded piece of commentary in recent times came late last year when Mosley (well, the shell who was once known as Mosley) had to retire against Mundine. The Australian lads in the box started getting all giddy, beaming that Mundine "had done something nobody else has ever managed to do" in stopping Mosley and that this now opened the doors to all the big fights, and that he was "now in line to face either Mayweather or Alvarez." I kid you not.

It was the same when Aussie boy Danny Green beat the ghost of Jones Jr....

Thought he'd beat a peak Ray Robbo the way they were talking.

Nick Halling screaming that Geale was by far and away the best fighter Golovkin has beaten, before realising he was sat next to Matthew Macklin was one of the better examples of foot in mouth disease.

Good call Rowla....Halling was out of order.......Macklin did well to hold himself back (must need the work!!)

Not only was Halling disrespectful to his guest but was wrong as well....

The Macklin that fought Sturm for me is just as good If not better..

Macklin should have said something.....After all Halling knows sack all about Boxing !!

I'll disagree and say I like certain commentators talking between rounds.

For 3 minutes you have blood pumping drama and action that gets your adrenalin coursing through your veins and literally lifts you out of your seat.  If your like me the minute break can be a real inhibitor to the high your experiencing so what better way to stay in the moment than to have some bimbling commentator talking utter sh*te that contradicts everything you've just witnessed with your own eyes and using pointless cliches to fill dead air time.  That's guaranteed to keep your thirst for violence alive. Poor commentary can even liven up a dull fight if your like me and let it rile you up good and proper.

Rubbish commentators are one of lifes many unsung heroes.

Do the commentators really talk between rounds or is it Audi, Ford, Tesco etc taking between rounds? I think you'll find it's mainly the latter which is really bloody annoying. I'd much rather see highlights of the previous round with commentary than see what's on sale at Tesco.

Particularly infuriating when it's PPV, I find.
