Ah! Here's The Paper Boy. Had a lie-in did you Hughie?
Staggy - the reason I said I wasn't a film buff is because I haven't watched any of the ones you mentioned there, and I don't tend to watch films that much. I have a few favourites but they're older films.
Like Dreamer says I guess it boils down to the script and how well they're done.
Good rugby karma for Mickado. He gave away his fave (or one of his fave?) shirts and shared the rugby love.

He can have all the good karma he wants once not at Munsters expense!

I'm still going to go for a marginal Leinster win at the weekend. Not to be anti-anything, I just feel it in me water. Or is that cystitis...?

I'm backing us to win it in the last 10 minutes. The effects of the HEC final to hurt Leinster.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Anyone else see that Munster have been asked if they will form a guard of honour and clap out the Leinster team as they are HEC Champions.
What nonsense. Its a Magners final.

Anyone see the scientist who claims his research will help people live for 1,000 years.
Would you like to live that long?
Would you like to live that long?
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I think that it's biologically impossible to live for 1000 years, considering the oldest people in the world have died at around 112 years old.
As for the guard of honour...it's controversial isn't it? If you do it, it's provocative, if you don't, it's sour grapes. I don't think it's necessary really. If they were playing at Lansdowne or the RDS then I'd say it was appropriate.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Stag - 1,000 would be far too long for me. I reckon as I'm so lazy, it would take me a while to do all the things in life I wanted to, not sure even I'd need that many years though!
My mam told me yesterday that the Scarlets coat/jacket I won off e-bay actually arrived at home the day I left to come back to Cardiff last Monday. How annoying is that?! Not sure when I'm next going to be home to get it now.

She could do I suppose Cari, not sure when she'd be able to get to the post office though is all and I wouldn't like to inconvenience her just for a jacket! I shall just have to be patient and wait

That's fair enough I forgot they live out in the sticks. Of course, it's always an excuse for you to go home again too!
I've got loads of leave to use up before August, and i haven't got a clue what to do with it

aye exactly Cari! Really wanted to go home this weekend for the bank holiday as I'll have no work until Wednesday but my new flat mate is moving in Monday so I really need to give the flat a proper clean! Which reminds me I also need to get the electric and water bills transferred from Francois' to my name or something...

Munsty, delighted for the young lad, just a wee bit disappointed that the Chiefs didn't get in there first - think he will be an excellent signing, altho as Hound says, it may take a couple of years for it to reach fruition. Sale are becoming a proper little mini-Scotland! - they'll be taking over from Glaws soon. So far they've recruited Vernon, MacKenzie, Dickinson, A Blair, Brown (Embra) I believe, and they've been sniffing around the young Melrose fullback who's had a good season

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
They've made some good signings. Guys who aren't really the most amazing talents in the world but who are decent players with experience in the top flight. I've been very impressed with their signings.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Anyone else heard about "Moneyless Mark" - a guy who hasn't used money in 2 years. He washes himself and his clothes in the river. He grows his own vegetables and forages for wild food - nettles are a favourite staple. He sleeps in an old van outside of Bath. Mark is also the founder of the 'Freeconomy' - a website that allows users to provide services to each other, in exchange for absolutely nothing. His next project is the Moneyless Village in which seven more people are going to join Mark in the moneyless lifestyle.
Crazy!!!
Crazy!!!
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Stag - I've heard about this guy, it's crazy but pretty brilliant I think! When it comes down to it, growing your own food and things isn't exactly difficult. The only issue really is the whole cleanliness thing - not sure I'd fancy having to wash my clothes in a river in the middle of winter! And heating as well I guess - just modern creature comforts. Sometimes I think a life without money could be a very good thing.

Actually I take that back, can't find confirmation of the signings of Blair, Brown and Fraser Thomson - think Sale are maybe just looking/giving them a trial at this stage? Meanwhile, another young Scot, owner Brian's 21-yr old son, Jonny, has had to retire from pro rugby with Sale after a series of concussions

I'm really glad Alex Blair has been snapped up by Sale, but I'm really miffed that he was let go by the Burgh in the first place.
A mistake to be sure, but hopefully now he can develop inton the player he was widely tipped to be.

Interesting article about rugby in Sri Lanka
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/rugby/news/article.cfm?c_id=80&objectid=10728058
I suspect it may be a little over-optimistic in places. The Sri Lankan passion for cricket runs deep. While in Colombo inn Dec 09 I wandered past a school in the suburbs. There was a decent (50-100 person) crowd watching a game, including someone commentating on a loudhailer. And the game was schoolboys playing cricket with a taped up tennis ball ...

Bore da pawb / good morning all.
Stag, that story about 'Moneyless Mark' reminds me of 'Walden' by Henry David Thoreau, a nineteenth-century American Transcendentalist writer who decided to build his own hut and fend for himself. I started reading it ages ago but it was really a dull read. From the subject matter I was expecting it to be great.

Radge - I agree with you there that it was a mistake for Edinburgh to let him go, but I hope he can use this situation to his advantage. He's a very promising player for sure.

Staggy - am hoping to go and see some GAA but that would be after August I think when the season's really in full swing. I need to use some leave before then.
I've heard of the guy living without money. Reminds me of the story about Christopher McCandless.

What about Chefs meet up? Or you could have a few days for yourself at home. Take a long weekend here and there and you'll use them up no bother.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I will work something out. We're allowed to sell three days back to the department as well and carry over a few days so that'll get shot of some. I'll take a couple of days off for my birthday even though it's on a Sunday.

Got to be honest I don't think I'd have swapped my Leinster shirt for the one Mick did. He definitely had the bum end of the deal.
I think my Wales v Barbarians ticket arrived yesterday.

Lucky, is it a cover of Blue Nile - Tinsletown in the rain? If so, I loves it, I do - see! Brilliant band, perfectionists that take on average 10 years per album, and brilliant in concert

Had it been a Dragons shirt Mick was wearing, that would've been different...
I wouldn't have swapped my shirt in public........I had nothing else on underneath.

Yes I have a Leinster short Stag and a Connacht one and an Ulster one. Wouldn't be seen dead in a Munster one though

Into The Wild was the film based on Christoper McCandles wasn't it? Brilliant film, highly recommended.
Apparently today is the last day of the old 606. I googled that and that's what came up.

Yes Munsters one. I don't think I would have been as big a rugby fan had Munster not been successful in the early 1999 and early 2000.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
When Ulster won the European Cup in the 1998/1999 season my Dad (an Ulster fan for a large number of years) took me to every game. I was just 10, and football was the big thing at school (especially a certain Manchester team) but after that rugby, and particularly Ulster, really captured my imagination.
I already really like rugby because he took me to several games but that really got me into Ulster Rugby. So there you go. Notch, bandwagon fan.
Personally I feel it's only a bandwagon if you jump off when the bad times come back

In my defence your honours, o is next to I and I have big thumbs compared to my iPhone keypad. So eat my shirts.
In all seriousness I did own a Munster shirt back in the days when I used to buy different club shirts. It was a Canterbury one and I went through a bit of a phase of loving Canterbury gear. Then it was Kooga. Nowadays it's just Dragons and Wales shirts and I'll probably buy an RAF one.

Notch - I was waiting to see what happened with work, but there's no way I can go to your "happening" this evening. Disappointing - I was pretty curious and keen to come along. On the other hand, Tuesday Wonderland has started heavy rotation.
No-one who has been an Ulster supporter through the Matt Williams years can be called a bandwagoner. (9th, 8th and 8th in the Magners...) What would spur someone to start supporting Ulster during that period?
"Yay! I love sporadic flashes of brilliance punctuating long, interminable periods of frustration! Count me in!"
