Grow a moustache or pour iced water over your head. Then donate yourself. Compassion fatigue - (c) Bob Geldof - is setting in

Iced being the important word. Too many people only have the ice in the water for 5 seconds. You're supposed to let it sit a few minutes and do it's thing.

Sorry but giving money for someone not to have a pint? Nope. Just have the pint and donate some money or donate the money you would save by not having a drink.

It's not just about that is it. It's about donating money to cancer and they are just think of new ways to get it done, like Movember, how much do you think that raises each year? Or this ALS challenge?
I can actually say hand on heart after the last few months I've had this will genuinely be a challenge for me, only a few on here know what I've been through and what has happened has made me hit the bottle quite hard so this isn't just someone not having a pint.

Its not just about the money, its about the well being of the individual undertaking the abstinence too, sort of a win win.

I like donating to charity, but only when the person collecting does something which inconveniences them, is difficult to achieve or is in some way, noble, admirable or challenging.
Not having a pint for a month isn't really much of an effort, though I wish you luck anyway in gaining sponsorship.

As I said earlier, for me at the moment it isn't just not having a pint. I have been suffering with depression since the start of the year which in turn has led to issues at home, including heavy drinking. I can assure you that this will not be easy, I appreciate that I should have put this at the start of my post as I previously said, only a handful of people on this site no what's happened.

I have family whom have and continue to live with depression, and am currently a student mental health nurse and work with people daily suffering from depression. Good luck with the cause and your journey to recovery, and don't feel you have to explain yourself to anyone mate.
