The Muppet (well one of them) has GONE
To coin a well know alchoholic phrase if Carlsberg done great news then Dickering leaving is up there with some of the best news around at the moment. A slimy squirmy man one which I still have no idea what he ever done to get the job or done whilst he was there.
Good riddance good bye

And poor Rog is now out of allies, with two major threats heading his way. A quick exit by the back door before October me thinks

Well, I would like to see some of the views of our very hardened Dragons supporter friends on here, they are all staunchly against the Rog and the WRU now one of their very own is rolling around in the same bed as them, will things change, or will we see more of the cloak and dagger bull that we have been accustomed to.

I've said all along that the WRU and Regions were both to blame for all the mess and not one mas fault but I just never knew what Dickering ever done and he seemed untouchable for a long while.
As for GD now getting on board well lets hope there is some change but thats nothing to do with him being a Dragon, change was needed and anyone had to be better but are they all the same as each other who knows time will tell I guess.

bedford, there has been a very vocal dislike towards the WRU from the Dragon's community on here, and all about how the dragons are being shafted, I just winder if the same people will come out with the same stuff now that there is a very high profile Dragon in the same bed as Roger Lewis and his chums.

Disagree. I think that RRW have played a blinder and it's been the WRU who have acted unreasonably throughout.

Lord, I don't know where you've been, to suggest it is Dragons supporters only or mainly who want rid of the Dodger and Prickering is wrong, the majority of Welsh supporters on here me included have wanted rid of those 2 for a number of years.LordDowlais wrote:Well, I would like to see some of the views of our very hardened Dragons supporter friends on here, they are all staunchly against the Rog and the WRU now one of their very own is rolling around in the same bed as them, will things change, or will we see more of the cloak and dagger bull that we have been accustomed to.
By all accounts the committee looking into the make up of the Welsh Rugby Union Executive is also due to report at the AGM, with leakages coming out that there will be Women and Non Rugby People being proposed, but whether the clubs will vote for that remains to be seen.

It's going to be a different "them" though.

Agree to disagree then because at times they have both acted like spoilt kids.

I disagree (bring out the independent judge somebody FFS!) and I think your teams' chief exec has been superb all along. Looking forward to him being elected WRU chairman and scrutinising the executive. Or as Gareth himself put it, "helping".
And just for fun;

The greatest and most significant difference is that finally we have people on the board, and will soon have a Chairman and in all likelihood a CEO, who acknowledge the fundamental truth that the national side doesn't exist in isolation from the rest of the game in Wales. This is completely different to the direction Pickering and Lewis took us in, putting all the focus on the national side to the detriment of every level below it. Putting aside the damage that's been done to the game at club level, just look at the Test players who have left Wales over the last four years or so. The WRU could have kept them here, but they allowed them to go, because in the WRU's eyes, it didn't matter - after all, they could still play for Wales, which is all they cared about. Never mind that it gave the regions less chance of being successful. As long as the (increasingly non-rugby) crowds came through the turnstiles at the Millennium Stadium, they didn't give a damn.

Re: The Muppet (well one of them) has GONE
A no-brainer if you ask me;
"Support grows for Davies as WRU's new chairman
Gareth Davies is a front-runner to be the WRU's new chairman
News: Pickering loses spot on WRU board
Cardiff Blues chief Peter Thomas has backed Gareth Davies to be the Welsh Rugby Union's new chairman.
Current chairman David Pickering will leave his role next month having failed to gain re-election to the WRU's board of directors. For Thomas, there is one clear candidate to replace him - ex-Wales international and current Dragons CEO Davies.
"You look at the board...with the greatest respect, there is no-one there of stature or personality or track record in business, media, rugby that comes close to Gareth," Thomas told Wales Online. "What any board wants is leadership and with David gone, Gareth is the obvious one in my view. I know all the guys there. They are good strong, sound rugby men representing their districts.
"But they are not men to go out onto the world stage. You need gravitas. Having worked with Gareth for many years and been a close associate of his, I have watched his career very carefully. He has massive business experience. He has done all the jobs, be it a CEO in regional rugby, a vice-chancellor of a university, a CEO of PLCs.
"He is also ideally suited as a Welsh speaking, ex-international. He is 58 years of age now. He is at an age and a stage where he would be the number one choice for Welsh rugby on the world stage. When we go to Twickenham or Murrayfield or to Dublin, everybody knows Gareth Davies. I think he is the stand-out candidate."

Today, I was amazed to find out that Dodger's salary is more than The President of the USA, Barack Obama. WTF?

That can't be right, can it? Then again, if the board were so terrified of him that they just rubber-stamped everything he suggested, it wouldn't be a surprise.
I just can't believe that such a liability has been allowed to stay in post for so long. He's so disliked outside Wales as well as within it. Apparently he was called a w@nker in open session by another Six Nations CEO.

Davies is the front runner and seems to be an ideal candidate what with his rugby and business background good luck to him and lets see what he can do if he gets the role.
