Come on man, Geno is not a good QB.
In fact, hes scraping below average at best. Good Vick can top that. As you say, Bad Vick brings you the same result. Rex has to be living in the moment with his seat heating up.

On the ATL podcast there was a good stat about Geno. He's got the third highest amount of turnovers for a QB in there first 20 starts.
You just can't win enough games turning the ball over as much as he does.

If you want to limit turnovers I think turning to Mike Vick is a bit of an out of the frying pan and into the fire decision to take.

Haha, yes I did Gazzy. I rather wish I didn't in some ways, but it was a good day overall.
We were pitiful though. Only Woodson turned up to play any defense and the offense was beyond anemic. The play calling was dreadful with so many short throws and screens and it was not working at all. They generally had a single high safety but we didn't try and stretch them out wide at all.

Interesting fact for Raiders fans... The Dolphins have played at Wembley twice before yesterday's game. They played the 49ers in the preseason in 1988 and the Giants in 2007. In both seasons the Dolphins opponents went on to win the Super Bowl.sodhat wrote:Haha, yes I did Gazzy. I rather wish I didn't in some ways, but it was a good day overall.

Woeful weren't we. Defense was beyond pathetic, at one point sure i seen a corner covering 3 receivers. Hearing talk that Allen has been fired

If the Raiders want a retread, they'd be better served chasing Hue Jackson than Jon Gruden.
Not that it matters though, Gruden gets paid too much not to coach. Can't see him returning to the grind while he gets a big salary for a cushy job.

Gruden is the dream. I don't think I'd want Hue Jackson back at this point.
It's said the Raiders want a 'superstar' hire. But who the hell is there and why would they come to the Raiders right now?

I saw that more than once too, they had three stacked to one side and we had two players covering them! Lucky they blew their own screen or it would have been a big play.
Can't say I'm disappointed to see DA go. We gave him a chance but 8-28 is unacceptable, even for the Raiders right now.
£5.20 a pint is extortionate but at least I could drink it in my seat...

Think that's a tad harsh, the defence is younger and more talented than its been in a decade, just father time is catching up with Brady now so the offensive formula isn't working as well.GSC wrote:Patriots have been stagnating for years.

Yes the offensive line isn't good, but he is really playing badly. That pick where he tried to get the ball to Edelman, I mean honestly what on earth did he see there?!

Meh if Grudens the dream. I don't think hes a brilliant HC by any means.sodhat wrote:Gruden is the dream. I don't think I'd want Hue Jackson back at this point.
Hue forcing through a massive overpay for Palmer was a big mistake, but he won as many games as HC in his sole season as the Raiders have the McKenzie/Allen era. The only HC to deliver a season .500 or better for the Raiders in the past decade.
You would think Derek Carr has to save McKenzies job at this point.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Watching the game last night, I couldn't help but think that the Jets are set up perfectly to beat the Pats this year. They can't stop the run, the OL is shockingly bad and Brady never throws more than 8 yards down the field to challenge our poor secondary.
Jamaal Charles is back baby. Can't see Kniles Davis being put back in the box and his good play has earned him playing time even when Charles is fully healthy. Travis Kelce is also a beast but we need to see more stretching of the field.

Derek Carr needs to be allowed to throw the ball down the field.
He's shown a good arm and good accuracy on the intermediate and deeper routes and all we did Sunday was dink and dunk until it was too late.
I'm imagining that RM won't want to go back on himself and ask Jackson. Might be wrong.

I don't know what happened to our defence last night, just laid an egg out of nowhere, hopefully an abomination not the norm.
The offence always starts slow and gets better but this unit flat out sucks. Just awful.

If they could put aside any lingering animosity... I'd prefer to see Mike Shanahan come back! At least the now yearly off-season QB trade would hopefully be for RGIII rather than... Josh freeman this year?

All Oakland's issues are front office. What even was their of season strategy? Literally throw mud at the wall it seemed
Until they get done stability and just pragmatic thinking from above they'll never progress on the field.

What is with the Pats refusing to throw outside the hashes at the moment, Dobson was not that bad when he played last year, is there a reason he is continually inactive?
If nothing else, he can act as a decoy, and maybe give Gronk a bit more space

Yep, that's why I question Dobson not even being active, unless there is some sort of off field issue. He looked good in patches last year, and they drafted him pretty high so they have surely got to take a look at some point

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Dobson sucks, he isn't a deep field threat at all he's more possession but then he's got hands of stone. We'd be better off throwing darts at the board than continuing with our WR pickup strategy in draft/free agency.
I've no idea why we ain't using the TE's more. Gronk looks almost 100% and Tim Wright has always looked good when given a go. But Brady barely looked at either last night. Its almost like if Edelman isn't open, well I'll throw it there anyways and hope for the best.

Unfortunately (or fortunately ) I've only been able to watch one half of Patriots football so far but Brady has been on a gradual decline for a few years now.Olly wrote:

Of Reggie McKenzies 16 draft picks before this years draft, 1 is a starter (Sio Moore)
Really struggling to work out reasons why he won't be following Allen.

I kind of liked his play in Q1, but then my Dad (relative rookie) comment on how poised he was for a rookie and it all went down hill!

Not as bad as picking the Falcons defence against the supposedly useless Vikes and them getting -4!

The Jets locker room is no bastion, either. It's there that reporters ask about Michael Vick, and whether the veteran backup could provide a spark to the offense. Smith bristled at the notion on Wednesday.
"I don't know what you're trying to lead to with that question," Smith said, according to the New York Daily News. "Maybe that's your opinion."
"What do you mean a spark?" a defensive Smith continued. "We've already put him in."
"That doesn't make sense," said Smith, whom the Daily News called "clearly agitated" by this point. "What team do you see doing that? ... That's not a question. Next question."

To be fair, the New York media is Frak horrible. The beat writers are against the team and contribute to this negative feeling towards Geno.
What's worse is that Geno is playing better than he was last year. Interceptions and fumbles are still there of course and that's what red zone watchers see.

I'd still rather have Geno than the Sanchise.
I think people are a bit harsh on him sometimes, I do see promise. He just needs to cut the mistakes out but I am a bit concerned that he doesn't seem particularly poised when criticised.

And both are better than JaMarcus Russell.
I actually saw people with JaMarcus Russell jerseys at the game on Sunday. They better have all just liked the number 2 and had the surname Russell or they're seriously in need of a new jersey.
