As expected, the top 3 teams in the NFC East are 11-4.

The idiotic OT rules strikes again. In a league which is suppose to be equal through the draft, salary cap etc I don't understand why all teams don't play the same amount of time throughout the season? 16 games x 60 minutes = 960 minutes.

OT rules are fine. What is so egregious about playing to a win (most of the time)?

I can only assume there is some underlying bitterness from fantasy points scored against in OT!

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Why should some teams get extra time to win though? The Saints scored a TD in extra time today. Had the Lions been given the same they could have won 20-17 over the Bills. After 60 minutes today the Saints had gained 0.5 on the Lions and after being given a bit more time (in which the Buccaneers couldn't reply) they have now gained a win on the Lions. That could be vital come the wildcards. Every team should play 16 games a season not some play 16 and a bit.NYJ wrote:mikeygnfl wrote:The idiotic OT rules strikes again. No, I just don't see what is wrong with ties? If two teams have tied after 60 minutes they both deserve to get their 0.5 wins out of the game.crazy_dave23 wrote:NYJ wrote:mikeygnfl wrote:The idiotic OT rules strikes again. It's just a bugbear of mine in a league where equality is supposed to rule.

Does time really matter though? Some teams have more plays in the 60 minutes. Should they be stopped from doing this too?

Time should be a constant. It is controlled by the officials. The number of plays is down to the teams and how good or bad they are.NYJ wrote:Does time really matter though? Some teams have more plays in the 60 minutes. Should they be stopped from doing this too?

That's different. That's playing to find a winner. You don't need to do that in the regular season. It's over 16 games.NYJ wrote:mikeygnfl wrote:Time should be a constant. At the very least both teams should get possession.

Logan Thomas has thrown an 81 yard TD after replacing Drew Stanton as the Cardinals QB. He looked pretty good in preseason from what I saw of him and has take that form into this game.

I picked up Branden Oliver in the West league last week and then dropped him this week
The Broncos are now 2 TDs in front of the Cardinals and the 49ers can almost close out their game with a TD.

3-2 with three home games in the next four. Real chance to crush the rest of the division.

With 4 of the Jets next 5 games against the Broncos, Pats, Chiefs and Steelers, Rex had to play his joker card in Vick. It didn't pay off, and Rex is probably staring down the barrel of being fired.
Bengals are small time. Marvin Lewis might be the most successful coach the Bengals have ever had, but hes holding this team back with his own brand of John Fox ball.
They were helped by the Jets being abysmal, but SD looks ready to challenge Denver.
The Eagles can't run the ball, can't protect the QB, the QB isn't accurate anyway, and the defense struggles to hold up. And they pace the NFC after 5 weeks. Fun game next week vs a resurgent Giants team.
The 49ers are winning ugly, but winning. With Kaepernick struggling to break down the mental side, Gore and Hyde should be be carrying this team.
The Saints stay alive in the NFC. Barely. Glennon is making a mockery out of the Josh McCown signing.
Dez Bryant is big time when it matters. Dallas just about escaped with a win that shouldn't have been close.
Jay Cutler. Not a championship calibre QB.

I'm beginning to think it may be a surprise if Harbaugh isn't the Raiders coach next year.
Coached there before, wants to stay in the area, the 49ers can get draft picks if he stays in the NFL.

It was almost as if Cincinnati didn't expect a team coming off the most embarrassing loss on a decade and being written off to be fired up and wanting to start quickly.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
The Bengals are 2-5 in prime time games since 2011 and have lost their last six Sunday night games. They seem to have built a team that can't handle the pressure.
The 49ers are winning ugly but are better than their record suggests. They could and probably should have been 5-0 albeit for throwing away winnable leads against the Cardinals and Bears. Their run of games against the Bears, Cardinals, Eagles and Chiefs wasn't the easiest against teams that had a combined record of 39-25 last year.
The Cowboys on the other hand are supposed Super Bowl contenders after beating the Titans, Rams, Texans and a poor Saints team who has a record of 27-37 last season.
The Patriots looked a different team last night than they did the week before. Their home and away form is at different poles. Still think the Dolphins will take them all the way in the AFC East.

So, the takeaways from last night:-
1. Seattle is not as good as they or everyone else thinks they are
2. Seattle are almost entirely reliant on Russell Wilson's athletic ability
3. Kirk Cousins can't beat you if you shut down the Redskins' running game... although in fairness, when you have a secondary as good as Seattle's, you can afford to sell out on stopping the run
4. The Redskins' season, as is the norm, is finished after 5 games
5. Richard Sherman got toasted for a 60 yard TD by DeSean Jackson.... You mad Bro'??
