Best of the GTA series

Started playing both the GTA San Andreas and Vice City games again on my old PS2 and it got me thinking what was the best GTA game so thought i'd pop it on here and see what you guys thought.

GTA San Andreas

For it's time i struggle to think of a game as good, it had so much to offer and so much to see. I didn't have access to the internet back then or know how to work a computer, so i had to work/find everything out for myself, sometimes i wish i didn't have access again as it can take the fun out of it. I loved the rumours of Yeti's roaming the wilderness and secret UFO'S etc. Could very well be my favourite game ever, because of it i got so far behind with my college work i didn't catch up until the final fortnight.

Gave my old XBOX, along with San Andreas to a friend when I moved abroad. Purchased a 360 in new country and was ecstatic to see GTA SA on sale at the equivalent of 10 quid (getting on for 4 years ago).

I think it could be the only game I've ever played to total completion twice.

Definitely San Andreas, it would be the one GTA game they would making a killing from if they remade it in HD. Fantastic game, loved the stats system where you had to eat, exercise etc.

Vice City in my veiw. Best story, funniest lines and great characters. It was also the last GTA to feel like a GTA. San Andreas was a bitchin game no question, but for as good as it was I didnt feel like I was playing a GTA game. I have the 1st one on my phone for when I'm on the bus

Close one between VC and San Andreas but SA wins it for me. More features (clothes, burger joints, gambling and burglary e.t.c.), bigger area with three cities and better vehicles and missions. Everyone wouldn't shut up about it for ages after it came out, it's what kept us sane during our exams. I'd say Vice city has the funnier radio soundtrack though, especially K-chat- Mr Zoo, Thor the viking and Love Fist were a right gas back in the day.

Can't believe I'm the only one to vote for GTA3. First 3D GTA and what a cracking game to boot. Really pushed the boundaries at the time.

san andreas the best one

The original was the best. It had the best humour in it and was a revolutionary game. I loved the arcadey feel of the game.

That said, the new ones are also brilliant.
