PRL release foreign players outside of the IRB window...!
First topic message reminder :
Premiership Rugby has confirmed that it has reached agreement with USA Rugby for the release of selected players for the US Eagles match against New Zealand on 1 November.
Premiership Rugby Chief Executive Mark McCafferty added: "We have a very good relationship with USA Rugby and we have responded to their request to ensure all their best players are available to play against New Zealand, on what will be an historic occasion.
"As we help grow the sport in the USA, it is essential to support a match of this quality which has clearly captured the interest of the American supporters."
Great, that will save Northampton getting another fine and give Wales axis to their England based players.

Re: PRL release foreign players outside of the IRB window...!
I'm not sure it hasn't. Argentina has limited scope to act at the moment. It's pretty much limited to voting within the IRB. It may gain more flexibility when it joins the Super 18. I'm sure the'll be peed under IRB regs they should have access to all their players in June, Mid year and November. It's essentially up to the clubs to rest them. There shouldn't be any complaints, if contract a foreign player that;s part of the cost. IRB's been a bit toothless in my opinion.
The difference with the US, is the US has significantly more potential. Whilst it's failed in the past to develop the game, it only has to work once for there to be a significant power shift in their direction.
People have long memories. In this case I think all players playing in this one game wont join the team in November. They don't have the depth Argentina has. It risks undoing any good result they may get against NZ. My point is the PRL clubs have been nosing around the proposed US system. They're putting down a pretty clear marker on how they are going to deal with these investors/stakeholders.

The reason they haven't done anything is because if
Argentina players were in all those international games they simply wouldn't get pro contracts in Europe. We already saw it in
England where it simply isn't worth it. Then they're limited to SR teams (who have limits on foreigners?) or amateur.
Once they have their own pro teams it will be better for them. Although what 'should' happen is a season that fits together properly so the two hemispheres can work together (even if not exactly the same due to climate/season issues).

Re: PRL release foreign players outside of the IRB window...!
blackcanelion at least USA are getting good quality players developed thanks to the PRL clubs.
The likes of Wyles,Scully and Manoa have earnt vital experience in England and when they play for USA they do boost the side. They get all the benefits that come from working in professional set ups at Sarries,Leicester and Saints respectively.
USA are not yet in a position where they can stand on their two feet - they need to make compromises themselves in regards to their top players.
These players wouldn't be where they are without their clubs.

The Let's Work Together line always falls down when you acknowledge that it really slyly means: Let One of Us be Boss.
Europe.
Boss.
The rest of you fall in line.
We'll promise development and loadsa sponsorship money.
But you'll obey the calendar...produced by us...mostly for our benefit 'cause here's where most rugby (if not best rugby) money is.
Resistance WILL be futile.
Self Determination excuses won't be tolerated.
All Blacks Must Base themselves in Europe for most of the season to accomodate its best players - who will by Law play in European sides....

Secretfly well it's difficult for everyone to be exactly on the same wavelength because we are all different and want different things. We do all need each other for a certain extent though.
If the Americans could develop their own successful league as the Japanese are trying to then they will have their independence from Europe. It takes time though.

We all need each other but we don't all need one region as boss (with all the 'expertise', all the clout, all the contacts and all the money) and using such clout and money to produce a global future designed in their own best interests.
There have been mutterings already about such a future (and initial moves on such a future) and I'll keep warning against such a future.

Scully scored 5 tries in 4 test for them in the june internationals.
He was in the USA squad before he came to Leicester had 13 caps for them and was in the RWC.
