Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
early change, Tremlett going to have a go. With the bounce that Broad has been getting this could be a good move I think. England still bowling well, a bit unlucky not to have a wicket yet I think.

good start from Tremmers, the batsmen looked like they didn't fancy that bounce.

Not yet, Liam, not as long as the seamers are looking dangerous. Good decision that by Aleem Dar BTW, ball flicked his trousers.

Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
I would have the seamers bowl another 7-8 overs before bringing Swann in maybe even longer if they take a wicket or two.
Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
He's big he's bad he's better than his dad Stuart Broad,Stuart Broaaaaad!
Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
Tea, Sri Lanka will have been very happy to survive that little period. England can consider themselves a little unfortunate as they bowled pretty well. The pitch looks very good to bat on, there was a bit of movement with the new ball but nothing major, and SL will look to make a really big first innings total here...

Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
Key for England is to take a wicket straight after tea. And the only man at the moment I can see doing that is Swann. Has a nack of taking wickets in his first over and it's what England desperately need.
Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
they've started poorly after tea liam, I'd get Swann on sooner rather than later

So would a. Nothing happening for the seamers time to change it and bring on some spin.
Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
fine over from Broad, it goes. Beaten, beaten, edged for four, beaten, beaten, blocked. No luck for him there. Para looks like he's struggling a bit right now...

He's starting to get into his stride.
Anderson unlucky in this over 2 edges for 4.

Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
England been unlucky they've deserved a few more wickets.
Knew Swann would come and take a early wicket,it's what he does best.
Hopefully Swann and co can take a few more before the end of play.

Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
Anderson takes his first wicket,Sangakkara out. Controversially dismissed.
Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
Why controversial?
Clear mark on hotspot.
Faint edge, good referral, right decision.

Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
Sangakkara gone too, nice ball from Anderson but not sure there was really enough evidence there to overturn the decision? Anyway England deserved some luck...

How was Sangakkara ever out? He missed the ball by inches

Yep, no idea why Bumble couldn't see the hotspot on the ball. It was plain as day.

The hotspot picture is side on and doesn't show the face of the bat, the mark was on the edge and snicko shows it hit as well.
Out!

Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
nah looking at it again there is a faint mark on hotspot where the bat passes the ball, also the noise couldn't have been anything else and clearly the slips heard something. Would like to see snicko

Seeing snicko I think it is out but it's a very very faint nick.
Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
suprised swann has been brought out of the attack :/

Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
Lack of bounce will concern England if Sri Lanka get 400-450.
Mendis and Herath bowl very straight and variable bounce will suit them.

Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
bah, flat pitch, forecast not looking great either, this does seem to be heading towards a draw unless one of the teams collapses badly I think. SL are probably on top, but a couple of early wickets would swing it right back England' way. SL will want 400 minimum you'd think.

I won't be back on here till around half 3 but you's can discuss today's matches all you's want on here.
Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
And my prediction for today is a middle order collapse from Sri Lanka and England to bowl them out around the 270,300 mark. Then for England to make a solid start with the bat before loosing a wicket just before the end of play. Brash prediction I know:P.
Just hoping the weather can hold up so we can have a few more hours play.

Players are out, can England get stuck in early?

Re: England vs Sri Lanka 1st test debate
decent start by Jimmy, plenty of swing on offer, just a bit too wide, though he did beat the bat a couple of times. Broad to open up from the other end...
