First topic message reminder :
Probably much easier to get motivated to play for AC Milan than QPR. But I agree with Crimey (for once ), Taarabt should be fired for misconduct if this is true.

Swansea XI: Fabianski, Rangel, Bartley, Williams, Taylor, Carroll, Ki, Emnes, Sigurdsson, Montero, Bony.
Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Chambers, Mertesacker, Monreal, Gibbs, Flamini, Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Sanchez, Welbeck.
Bony vs Monreal is going to be a disaster

Wenger plays Monreal in CB against powerful strikers. Puts chambers at RB against the pacey winger with Bellerin on the bench.

TBH apart from Chelsea (who look nailed on) and City (who you'd still expect to get there comfortably) top 4 looks like absolutely anyone's game. Saints have been mightily impressive, but probably with the easier fixtures, and apart from that no one's managed a run of results at all.

Indeed Olly. I must admit, I've enjoyed following Swansea the last few months. Obviously a Madrileño first and foremost, but there's a certain joy in following teams with more limited means, and watching then pull off victories

Embarrassingly easy season in the league for Chelsea, and they have a gentle run of fixtures up to and including Boxing Day.

Newcastle away on the 6th of December. If Newcastle keep up their current form that could be a tough one (I'm not 100% certain but feel our recent form vs Newcastle isn't all that great?). But yes, Chelsea look (to my rather biased eyes, admittedly) the best team in the league by a distance. Still very early days though, and after recent years not taking anything for granted...

More disgraceful discrimination.
There are no black football coaches, or mixed-race football coaches, or white football coaches.
There are only football coaches, and the colour of their skin is an irrelevance.
The same idea can be applied to gender, another irrelevance, as the tentacles of sexism begin to envelope the game we love; the very same sexism that has been championed so greatly by the vile Karen Brady.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
I am pleasantly amused by his comment "proud to be black".
I have no problem with that, but imagine if...oh I don't know...John Terry said he were proud to be white (not inferring that he does think that way, merely speculating). Imagine the outrage, the horror, the disgust!
Anyway, good to see Jimmy speak some sense on the Rooney Rule.
Keith Curle (another fellow who the BBC would refer to as an "ethnic minority coach"), not too long ago, said he had no evidence that the Rooney Rule would work and, equally, no evidence that there was any racial discrimination against him whilst he was unemployed.
So that is two out of three managers in the Football League with dark skin colour advocating appointment by merit.
Ah appointment by merit within the gracious grounds of equality = a wonderful idea.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
It's just about numbers. They have highlighted a percentage of the players that could be taking there coaching badges but are not and are offering an incentive to that group.
It's not about getting more black coaches. It's about getting more coaches full stop.
The Rooney rule will only be proven to have worked when there is a time when we can stop the Rooney rule.
Why do other European countries have so many more qualified coaches than the UK? Well it needs addressing.
Offer incentives all round. Base it on various factors. Don't think of race. Think about how we can make more of our aging player pool take badges. If that means targeting one demographic that is letting the side down. So be it. Ex black players on the whole may be apathetic or they may be discriminated . But for what ever reason not enough are taking there badges. If half the player pool is black. Then a good starting point is to target that group as its an un tapped resource.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Stories doing the rounds today in certain papers (not sure of how reliable) that the Liverpool owners are considering sacking Rodgers. Would be interested in the opinions of other board members on this if true.
I for one think that, although we have been brutal this season, his performance last year has earned him another year. May need reminding of this though if our poor form continues...
On the flip side though it is certainly easy to see where the owners would be coming from if true. Why let a man spend tens of millions of the clubs/your money if you have no faith in him..

I'd keep faith with him until the end of the season although I can't see him being the right man to solidify the defence, doesn't seem in his make up as a manager.

The most annoying thing about his lack of ability to coach a solid defence is that he doesn't have too! Just get over yourself and employ a specialist defencive coach for god sake! Think a lot could depend on how our last 2 champions league games go. If, like many expect, we crash out, then the pressure will surely mount.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
I don't like the bloke but sacking him would be ridiculous. Just like when a manager gets a club up from the Championship, you can't sack a manager because he overachieved the year before. At the start of last year I would imagine Liverpool wouldn't have been unhappy with a fifth place finish. But because they finished 2nd this year looks poor.
