Where now for Tom Stalker?
Morning all,
Not seen the fight yet and it seems to have gone under the radar but where do you guys think Tom Stalker goes from here? Can he come back from this set back? Did everyone maybe underestimate his opponent Jack Catterall? Exactly how good is he? Or has Tom Stalker just not got the skill set for the pro game? Can you see him having a future as a trainer or keep his hand in the sport another way? Can he make money by being a gatekeeper for british level?
Cheers

Re: Where now for Tom Stalker?
I watched it and think it's fair to say he looked vulnerable every time Catterall opened up.
Held his own in a couple of the Middle rounds but never seemed able to subdue Catterall at any stage.
I'm not too sure what he does now, he's over 30, carries no power and doesn't seem to have the elusive style you need if you punch like Paulie!
Catterall looks to have something about him, similar style to Froch and clearly carries heavy power in both hands. Be interesting to see how he develops as he's only 21.

Re: Where now for Tom Stalker?
Catterall seemed to have the power to hurt him at will it seemed be interesting to watch his progress as he is only 21 but as for stalker i dont know where he goes from here i mean he doesnt seem to have any power but what was more worrying was that catterall seemed to be able to outbox stalker in stages of the fight which is worrying given stalker's amateur background
In short i think stalker retire and take up a job in the amateur setup which he has been offered in past

Re: Where now for Tom Stalker?
I'd agree with that, Wheel.
Was never overly impressed by him when he turned pro anyway so in my mind it was just a matter of time before he was found out.
I did think he would get to British level though, and maybe stretch to Euro level at a push if matched correctly.
Shame really as he seemed to have a good amateur background, just not got what it takes for the pro game, no shame in that.
Can make himself some good money back in the amateur game working there, still stays in or around the sport he loves as well so not all bad.

Re: Where now for Tom Stalker?
Is it possible for a fighter who has turned pro to return to the amatuer ranks? If so its probably the best bet for Stalker.
I'm not really a 1 lose is the end of the world type of guy but as Mobile said it really was a matter of time before he got found out.
A move back to the ams and the WSB and 2016 Olympics would probably be more lucrative for him.

He looked distinctly average. He could possibly come back to win domestic honours but I wouldn't expect much above that from what I have seen. That said, we've seen Paul Smith has fought for world honours so why not Stalker?
There's so much crowing recently re the MGM (Marbella) but not much good seems to be coming from it.

I know mate...
Just makes me laugh how often that happens on here....
I seem to be invisible sometimes and then someone says the same thing and people agree with them....

One bad performance and the guy is written off and should retire? It's a fickle game this boxing.

To be fair strongy at his age and given how hes done as a pro thus far its justified this time

I read your posts rob...
...Then plagiarise the good ones!
Being charitable, people don't read whole threads, and just respond to the latest post, I think we've all shared your pain on the invisible man front. ... Take it as a form of flattery. Given the amount of circular debate on here, there's not much that hasn't been said before by someone.
I find that regular needy shouts for attention and threats to leave (that no-one responds to, because they don't read them and/or don't care) are all part of the poster's repertoire in these situations.

Yeah, it annoys me. I seriously don't see the need for it.
You're a serial offender Trussman. Punctuation is your friend, the difference between knowing your sheet and knowing you're sheet, as they say.

Re: Where now for Tom Stalker?
Did you invent ellipses truss? I generally use them in overly long sentences as an alternative to too many commas but occasionally use them for dramatic pause like Trussy.
I'm sure as head of the language police, rowley can educate us on the correct usage... And I mean that quite literally... Or figuratively.
