the "I hate Djokovic" thread
How do I hate Djokovic, let me count the ways:
He smashes racquets.
He has had the same haircut forever
He can't dance
He seems to get struck with a debilitating illness every time things get tough.
He went off gluten
He only drinks room temperature water!
He isn't particularly charming
He sometimes tries to be funny
He isn't particularly funny
He will continue to try be funny
He has a hot wife
His coach's face looks like a blowfish
He wears really well tailored shorts (I must admit I hate this because they look quite good on him)
His No1e logo looks stupid
His ears look stupid
He's taller than me
He rips his shirts off
He sometimes doesn't rip his shirt off
His shirts deserve to be ripped off anyway
He has a very bland colour scheme
And
His game had the emotional appeal of a root canal.
Finally I put my emotions into a haiku
I hate Djokovic
absolutely despise Nole
I can't stand Novak.
I feel better now. Yes I do.

I will add one more,
his nick name "Nole" often mis-interpreted by his fans as "No.1e" which no other players fan can do it.

Poor, poor Djokovic A thread like this won't get anyone raging in anger or even joining in to say how much they also dislike his hair. What he would do to be as liked or disliked as Roger and Rafa

He has a wife and new baby - plenty of love for him there.
We can dislike players for whatever real or imagined reasons, but to sit in our chairs and think we can psychoanalyze what their needs are with any degree of certainty is a bit of a laughable idea imho.

Very strange to see a Tennis player being hated. He is a good Tennis player and brings joy to his fans.

Really .....?? The only one ....?
I seem to remember reading just recently a press report about a couple of aggressive teenagers being arrested on serious charges of beating him up pretty badly.
Currently on bail, I believe........

1 - Unrelated incidents.
2 - Mugging an old man with Appendicitis doesn't count.

Coric win is certainly not an asterix, Rafa deserve that loss to understand not to play when you are injured, he or his team's decision to play means the loss was very fair, I would't be surprised had he beat Federer in the finals with that condition on Basel

As the self professed 606v2 expert in psychology do you think that kingraf saying "He sometimes tries to be funny " or "He has a very bland colour scheme" or most of the comments on the list is an indication of true "hate"? Of course only kingraf knows his true feelings.

Yes by playing his appendicitis was miraculously cured and he was fully fit. If I ever get appendicitis I may try this technique myself

I said ift before and will say it again - Rafa should have his op before or just after Shanghai - an embarrassing defeat could easily have been avoided and he may have had a 50-50 chance of playing in the WTF.

Its the opposite, whenever you lose keep an excuse handy, a moral lesson you could learn from your idol.

Mhmm. I think you were thinking of me. I've got university credits in Psych.
I'd say Kingraf is a rather passionate male with a penchant for snazzy shorts, and colourful shirts. He is also likely the intellectual class clown, who can't stand the fact Djokovic struggled this much to be funny. He's also well versed in solipsism, and wonders if this is indeed a real forum or the rest of you are all just figments of his imagination. The fact that he can't actually see any you only strengthens this theory. He also struggles with his hate for Djokovic as he's not if Djokovic is a real person, or a dissociative character he's created to project all of he's personal vices. He'd ignored ths idea for months, until he found that Djokovic's son's name is Stefan, while his best friends name is Stephan.

Re: the "I hate Djokovic" thread
Still a bit confused by the notion that Rafa losing to the two teenagers "doesn't count"
We're told categorically by hawkeye that Djokovic is the ONLY one who "puts up a fight".
But - disrespectful teenagers aside - I seem to recall various other players putting up "a fight" on their day.
Let me think now ...... players like Wawrinka.......and Dolgopolov ......
And Ferrer.
Oh and .......Brown (yes...him!) ......oh and Klizan.
I nearly forgot Almagro.
Oh and Lopez.
All in this current season alone.
But perhaps they don't count .......

Re: the "I hate Djokovic" thread
I hate him too.
Once upon a time I could watch tennis as an impartial observer. But then that blooming Serb and his blooming career entice me to follow him and take me on a rollercoaster with more detours through anguish than can be healthy.
From there, I'm sucked into a tennis forum where, rather than get on with things in the real world, I argue about unimportant things with people who I don't know, some of whom I suspect may be quite mad.
I'm intrigued though, to discover that one of the posters on the forum may be Billy Bragg:

Totally disagree. Nothing in his personality supports this
He's like the great Kimi Raikkonen, I really don't think he gives a flying fig about what people think about him
Indeed, I think Nole revels in been the bad boy, whereas Roger's big weakness is he obviously likes to be liked
I admire public figures who don't, obviously crave public approval - Nick Faldo is my favorite all time sportsman, simply because he got on with the business of been great and didn't let the ridiculous negative comments affect him

Sometimes Djokovic is cringe worthy in his attempts to make people love him. On court impressions, giving out chocolates to the press, dancing with smiley tennis balls, inviting small children to sing at his press conferences, writing cute notes in Chinese on the camera, sheltering ball boys from the rain with an umbrella, getting on his hands and knees to dry courts with a towel... In fact whatever he does he looks conscious of an audience and attempts to please. As far as match play this can be his Achilles heel because if an oppone can get the crowd to cheer for them it is worth quite a few points. Djokovic has been known to self destruct when this happens. However yelling abuse at the crowd in an attempt to make them cheer for him is never going to work.
But to me wanting to be liked is a positive thing. To me it's difficult not to like someone who wants me (as an audience member) to like them. I find the opposite harder to understand. Why like anyone who appears not give a flying fig about my feelings?

Re: the "I hate Djokovic" thread
KR wrote this elaborate haiku to exorcise his inner demons and have a friendly Freudian analysis by the resident Psychics, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Psychoanalysts of 606v2, but what he ran into is a bunch of Psychos who wish to deny him his 55-minute session on therapists' couch.
It would help to let him vent his hate, so he can enjoy the WTF without saying "wtf Nadal! Your appendages and appendix have me in pain".
Nadal, the-helicopter-pilot-who-needs-a-user-manual, is enjoying himself in Mallorca, while some struggle for a trophy. How did he manage a cameo in Djokovic's piece-de-resistance ?

Re: the "I hate Djokovic" thread
Thank you LF although mention of Nadal is a touchy matter for me. I'm currently in the process of withdrawing all fandom for Rafa and depositing it into a younger model. It's been a difficult process. Not the withdrawal as it's surprisingly easy to stop being overly concerned with a player who is out for four months a year, but the depositing is a rather arduous task, as the heir apparent seems to have decided himself to take four months off and he's not even injured!
Vamos Rafa it remains
