Adam D wrote:Gunner is obviously the bigger loss of the two but I quite liked Shaw as well.
The biggest worry is that Aries goes. Hopefully the money saved on these two will pay for Aries.
Most of the wrestlers at TNA have a small contract that is topped up by appearances. Both Gunner and Shaw havent been on TV in months so it makes sense for them to request to leave. Gunner is a big loss in my opinion.
Agreed.
Its weird - Gunner spent at least a year or two in relative obscurity, making semi-regular appearances in mid-card matches, then just when he's getting pushed and starts becoming one of their best assets, they let him go.
Sam Shaw was a relative newcomer, but I felt there was enough about his character for him to become a great heel. Also had decent ring technique to back it up. Think they messed up when they tried to "rehabilitate" him and he went and "Gunner-fied" himself with the facial hair and tatts.
Not as bad as when they let Styles, Daniels and Kazarian go, but still a loss.

Of course. It's probably all BS. But I'm going for him getting a slot on Destination America to replace TNA
Things are really coming together for this "deal"... Almost in legal's hands... #StayTuned
The deal is in legal's hands... Pretty, no, very excited about this... Here we go... @GFWWrestling #StayTuned
Not the 1st time... Certainly will not be the last-- Legalities can/will kill a deal quicker than anything... #NotForLackOfEffort
Well, stranger things have happened... Not a "done deal", but huge turnaround this morning... Definitely headed in the right direction...

"Just to clarify everything, Bryan’s problem is concussion related stemming from his match with Sheamus on the Smackdown tapings right after Mania. Many people in wrestling have known this for some time and we were told it as soon as he got sent home from the European tour. For whatever reason, at that point a bunch of denials were made because evidently WWE wanted that under wraps. The issue is career threatening at this point."

WWE has reportedly offered deals to Pro Wrestling NOAH talents "The Mighty Don't Kneel" Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste. The duo were reportedly impressive at the recent tryouts camp at the Performance Center in Orlando. The two are just waiting for visa paperwork to process and medical testing to be done. These deals usually take several weeks after decisions are made but Nicholls and Haste, who is suffering from a knee injury, should be signed soon.
WWE’s creative department are frustrated about how the company is constantly booking itself into corners and rarely give almost anyone consistent wins or positive momentum that they need to have upward mobility due to outside involvement (HHH/Vince etc)

So that's what TMDK stands for I've always wondered, anyways they would be a great addition to NXT, excellent tag team and I think Haste has a star quality about him if they ever wanted to split and push him

Diego is an odd choice. I would love if they'd built to this on TV like an actual PPV. Jericho would have been happy to do Raw once or twice. Lucha Dragons vs New Day could have been a number one contender shot. New Day could have interrupted Lesnar.

What I mean by that is although I am basing this on one weeks figures, it points to TNA being the better received product, but that comes at the cost of higher production values for DA. IF a cheap program like ROH is not going to draw in viewers, do they just scrap wrestling altogether.
My hope is that this is positive news for TNA as it shows that it has a hardcore audience and that they will keep them. As long as they get over 500k for the July 1st episode, I think they will be alright.
TNA practically unchanged 451,000 (369K + 82K).
ROH well up on the previous week with 330,000 (185K + 145K).
What I think might be telling is that I'd have considered both of these shows to be "hot" going into this week. RoH was coming off the back of its PPV and it was the final showing of the New Japan stars. TNA was "live".
I think that both Adam and I have said that next week's Impact is probably the big one. The show this week has created buzz and they have the EC3 v Angle title match and the final of the best of 5 tag titles match.

What's a bit funny about this story is that I saw the news last week, that he'd come out on his facebook page. I remember that as I'd not really read it properly and had read it as Matt Cross. Then it seems that maybe this was picked up again yesterday somehow.
Anyway, as you say, fair dues to him. Personally I'm not interested one way or another in wrestler's (or any sportsmen / public figures) sexuality, but I understand that still in 2015 breaking this news can be a big personal hurdle and when public figures do it it gives strength to others to do so too.

I think the "problem" for the WWE is that it will be airing middle of the night US time, but worse on 4th of July weekend, so I think they are probably figuring it won't even make a ripple in the US. Plus, they have been really pushing Owens as the #2 heel on Raw and he's likely to drop the US title to someone who will probably be getting massive pops in Tokyo while most casual WWE fans won't really know who he is.
So, I can't really blame them for treating this as a show for Japan and an Easter Egg for Network subscribers. I'd expect that we might get a few shots of Lesnar throwing someone around on Monday night's Raw, but I'd be surprised if there's much more cross over.
But, it is so odd for WWE to have 5 weeks of build to a PPV now. And it really felt it on Raw, that we are so far away from anything happening that this is really skippable stuff.

These things won't garner interest unless they make effort. And if they want to make it big in the Asian markets, then you'd think their television would pander to them a little bit too. Plus its a Network exclusive, thus another thing to advertise to get subscribers. Seems a bit lazy to me, a very American thing to think that what happens in America is news and everything else is filler.

Re: News items that dont merit their own thread...thread
That's just my guess. That this is really just a house show and it's kind of fallen into WWE's lap that two things are happening on it (Brock and the NXT title).
I've given my opinion on NXT as it is at the moment, and not having the title change on an NXT event I personally think sucks. I really think they've lost focus with this brand since March.
With regards to Asian markets, well China, Japan and India I'd expect they'd see as the big markets across Asia and none of them have the network yet. So not much point selling this Network event if they don't have it.

No, but they're selling the brand, and poorly really because its one and done in many ways.
And they're also selling the Network back home. A rather big event, with the limited appearances of Brock Lesnar, is on the Network and they're not advertising it. Seems weird.

Re: News items that dont merit their own thread...thread
I totally see your point of view.
And I don't know what is going through WWE's heads. I mean, we know what American's are like. I'd not be surprised for many of them to be confused that Japan is a different timezone. Or even annoyed that this is happening at a time they can't watch it live. And it's on the 4th of July! Man I can just see those fans who thought "we the people" was a legitimate call to action getting upset.
I think we'll see footage used on Raw, but its pretty clear that they are not seeing this on anywhere near the same level as KotR or EC, which I agree is maybe a missed opportunity, but we have to remember it took them over a year to realise they could do anything on the Network before they showed those.

Sorry Dolph, I should leave this now. But the more you make me think of this, the more I think you have a point.
For example. We know that Kofi is going to be crushed, right? And maybe the rest of the New Day too. But, I think they if they just let Big E suplex Brock or something that would be massive for him. Let someone get a move in against Brock and that could get them hugely over. It could even be Kofi. Yes, Brock can destroy them. But showing that they'd even stand up to Brock and would give him a shot (again even if he no sells it) is a way to make someone as well as Brock look like something coming out of this match.

I am told it's a multi-year deal.
Ziggler's denied that he's signed any deal. He said the following on a radio show: "I had a request for an upcoming contract that would end a few months from now, maybe two or three months from now, and they requested back what they would like, I countered another offer and we're waiting to finalize some things.
"I love WWE and I can't picture myself wrestling somewhere else but it's also becoming now where that Wednesday and Thursday, I can't just do that and get some outside live events for comedy and different movie and television options, which would only be to promote myself as a WWE superstar, to make myself a bigger star so I can advance more in WWE. So if I can't find that happy medium, I might have to go away for a little bit. What I wanna do is make myself a bigger asset to WWE. If it involves leaving, that would crush me but it might."

Wow. Wow. That's around half of what I thought they needed for that show. Just wow. Coming off a PPV, a stacked card, new WC on offer, best of 5 tag team decider, all the buzz around JJ. Wow. I'm really shocked how low that is. I guess the bad buzz about wrestlers leaving just killed TNA right there.
EDIT: This time last year Impact drew 1,325,000 viewers.

I think that just goes to show the damage the internet can do. News travels fast and despite a great show, the rumours surrounding TNA right now are hurting them badly. I feel for the roster who are putting on great shows only to be overlooked and unappreciated.

I said pretty much the same thing, either earlier in this thread or the "lets bash TNA" thread. The publicity may be making more people aware of the two companies, but the way we're getting more or less a play-by-play of events will massively hurt the numbers willing to fork out to go to the shows, or buy PPVs.
