Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
First topic message reminder :
Sr,
1).Correct. Wonderful is right. Though in the American order of things behind the NFL, College Football, High School Football, NBA, College B'ball.
2).Not much of a market: 21,000 per home game.
3).But no other nations pay their players a fraction of this sort of bounty. He'll probably end up using PED's, just like his predecessor as highest paid.
Ridiculous money!

Sorry - I had meant to mention it, it's every shot other than putting. From driver off tee peg, club from fairway to recovery (or attempted miracle) from rough. Sure it is sub conscious (at least it's been there that long it probably is now even if it wasn't originally).
Doesn't appreciably seem to improve his game though!

Come on guys, stop falling for Mac's wind up drivel.
We all know he's a loner and doesn't really play football, unless you include play station etc. Because Sunday football is full of players running around trying to assess the optimum diving conditions.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
:sigh: I haven't heard/read Scholes but, aside from the fact he's both ex-MU and an ex-player of some standard (both of which make me query bias), it's a 'Straw Man' again. There clearly are cases where zero contact with the opponent is given as a foul (i.e. a high foot) and sometimes even a red card brandished (the 2-footed, in-the-air tackle "But I got the ball Ref!!" kind of thing), but this isn't about whether what the keeper did with Rooney could be construed as a foul - that's the Referee's decision - it's about the fact that Rooney dived, when utterly without justification, in order to con the Ref into giving a penalty.McLaren wrote:Navy
What do you make of Paul Scholes take on the Rooney "dive"?
He writes that the rules do not mention contact when describing a reckless act for which a foul could be awarded. I am not really into checking football rules so this may or may not be true.
He also makes the point that a large part of football is exploiting the mistakes of others, and lunging out like the keeper did was certainly a massive error.
Maybe the Referee would have given a penalty if Rooney had stayed up? We'll never know though will we as he managed to con the Ref by diving better than Tom Daley.

Winter World Cup in 2022. I am not really bothered by the time of year its played personally. I still cannot see why it was awarded to Qatar, well apart from the obvious.

ben,
I know the US TV Contract is only a portion of the FIFA moolah, but this would be a terrible time for the TV Networks that carry it here. Conflicts with the climax of the NFL "regular season", Thanksgiving Holiday, plus obviously all the Christmas kerfuffle.
Whereas summer was the perfect time for it.

Qatar made a bid on the basis of hosting a Summer World Cup. A Summer World Cup it should therefore be. No ifs and no buts. Just another illustration (as if we needed any) of how ridiculous FIFA undoubtedly is.

It is hard to imagine the world cup will be able to compete with Hero World Challenge Hosted By Tiger Woods in terms of TV viewers. At all costs clashing with the Hero World Challenge Hosted By Tiger Woods should have been avoided.

FIFA and the world cup at Qatar is turning from a comedy to a farce (unless for the hundreds of underpaid workers who's already lost their lives trying to build the stadia).

I agree that going down the physics route would have been interesting. If only Prof Brian Cox had been on TV when I was filling in my UCAS form.

Not this again super. I am sure I told you once actually, if you can't remember then not sure it is all that important to you. All you need to know is that I have a masters, which I believe is a little better than your standard grade in home economics, or whatever you claim to have.

I'm just interested Mac, you like to portray the image of a learned and educated person, yet, it seems despite this you live in relative poverty in a Haymarket tenement, travel by bus, buy your golf balls from jumble sales, and get your SKY coverage from dodgy streaming websites, which for someone who claims to have a MSc is rather peculiar.

I have no doubt that you are far wealthier than me but it seems to have come at a rather large cost in other aspects of your life. You seem to have a limited life away from work and by your own admission have not had sex or a relationship for a number of years.

Mac, I was never good at relationships whilst I was poor, so I can't blame a reasonable career for my continued bachelor status, other than that I'm not sure why you think I have a limited life.

I assume you have a limited life as you hate other people and seem to find nothing remotely interesting. It is hard to imagine what you do in your spare time given that little seems to excite you.

Better to have an opinion about things, than to have no interest in them at all. Disliking something isn't necessarily a negative thing.
I could say your life seems similarly empty and solitary given your preponderance for sitting at home watching TV, F1 and football and playing computer games. Not exactly what I'd call especially fulfilling or something i'd laud over other people as proving your life is more rich than someone elses.

I have not read a caddie on st andrews. The only golf book I have read in the recent past is http://www.amazon.co.uk/Preferred-Lies-Journey-Heart-Scottish/dp/0753821567/ref=pd_sim_b_6?ie=UTF8&refRID=0M3VHQQ2HB4Z94EDAHNB.

It's in a science. (why are people so bothered about this?)
Super
I watch very little TV, and have really cut back on playstation hours in the past couple of years.
So what do you do in your spare time that is not as vacuous as the way I spend my time?

Mac, my question was at to why someone who admits to watching sport rather than doing it somehow has a more complete life.
I prefer to be out doing stuff, e.g playing golf at the weekends, hitting the range, going for a run, reading, 5 a side, going out for a drink, seeing family etc etc.

At the end of the day if people like to play video games, watch tv,
come on sites like this, fair play to them if it makes them happy.
Super's lifestyle sounds good, similar to mine, minus the golf. Although wouldn't mind going out for a round or two in the summer. the 5 a side, which i had to give up because of my knee injury.
Do miss playing football, especially the sunday league.
Must get back swimming(aside from taking my son on sunday mornings).
Also could do with getting back into the gym.

Prefer a good tv show to films.
