Liverpool Fight Thread - SPOILERS
First topic message reminder :
Evening everyone.
First fight in the way is Jamie McDonnell.
3 rounds in and I have him losing every one of them
Turning off now as neither can punch. I'll watch the footy and turn of after.

Quiggs left hook looks like the punch to do the damage tonight.

I give up with quigg. Who on earth is he fighting? He looks in a different league let alone a different country.
This won't go long and if it does, quigg should be ashamed....no disrespect to the Japanese fighter of course.

Re: Liverpool Fight Thread - SPOILERS
I watch Quigg and don't see anything that suggests he is close to being able to beat Frampton; just do not see it at all.
Re: Liverpool Fight Thread - SPOILERS
Agree, Owen. Feasting on fighters who don't hit you on your way in is no preparation for Frampton.
This card needs an exciting fight. Bad!

Nice to hear other people have the same view on frampton quigg. I've Always thought that frampton would maul him but I'm slightly biased seeing as I'm from the same country.

Until hes asked some serious questions the jury is out on Quigg. He never needs to get out of 3rd gear. Hes been protected abit too much for me.

Know the feeling, lost count of the amount of times I've had to re-watch a fight the next day because I've had no recollection of what happened in it...

Wow. Been watching since the 4th thinking it would have been over....and he is still there?! This guy isn't in the same league as Frampton, LSC or Martinez. No where near. All of this above stop him

No offence but have you ever seen him fight before because I have no idea how tough Otake is, fair enough he's not the best but why do you insist that everyone should get knocked out.

Not sure how Quigg can call himself a 'world champion'(hwever watered down his regular title is). Frampton and Santa Cruz put Quigg to sleep. Rigondeaux would school him so bad,

You're all being harsh on quigg.... He'll be just be fighting to gallacher's master plan. A few fights ago he was instructed to lose the first 6 rounds and come on strong for the draw. Here, he's just under instructions to look rubbish, to lure frampton into the fight before showing his true genius.
Alternatively he may be just a bit sh*t

Why does Nick Halling keep saying Quigg is really enjoying this? Absolutely nothing to suggest it and if his body language is anything to go by he looks frustrated.

Quiggs not rubbish, he's just not true elite. He has decent skills and great stamina.
He would give Frampton something to think about but hasn't the skills to win

Re: Liverpool Fight Thread - SPOILERS
Summed up by Adam there;
I'm not saying Quigg is crap, what he does..he does well. However whenever he has stepped up he's not looked great. He took an age to get going in that now infamous draw and here he is fighting a guy who has never left his hometown who was 33 and whilst yes he was teak tough, Quigg should have done more to make the ref stop the fight. If he has aspirations to be at the top of the table then sorry he should be stopping guys like that or at the very least looking a lot more impressive than he did. I thought he looked fairly predictable tonight, his combinations weren't all that impressive and he stills look very awkward when he has to fight going away from the action. All of those things will be detrimental if he steps in with Frampton.

Re: Liverpool Fight Thread - SPOILERS
Nice little montage from skysports there.....most definitely getting DeGale vs Groves II next year...unless of course one comes unstuck tonight...anyone think it's a possibility? I've heard DeGale's opponent will be around 16lbs bigger than him come fight time that can't be right surely?

Indeed Milky it's a great tactic, luring your future opponent into a false sense of security. Remember Cotto luring Pacquiao into a false sense of security by losing to Margarito, and then convincing Mayweather to fight him by getting good clubbed by Pacquiao? For good measure he convinced Martínez to fight him by being beaten by Trout. Fair play, this rather elaborate scheme now has him at the lineal middleweight champ of the world

Re: Liverpool Fight Thread - SPOILERS
Like I said, Frampton outboxes him pretty easily. Quiggs workrate and strength would make it competitive for 6 or 7 rounds then Frampton would take over and stop him late.
That's how I see it. Quigg is a paper champ but he's a good pro and If he wasn't a direct rival of Frampton I would fully support him.
If he were somehow, some way defeat Carl he would have my full backing but I doubt that would ever happen.

Frampton may beat him but anyone who thinks its an easy night is a t*t.

Spot on raf. Sometimes you have to lose the battle to win the war. If others can't see it, well it's no big surprise. We are the only guys with IQs in double figures that frequent this place.
