Wimbledon On BBC
I just wanted to resurrect a story that came out in March and put it to the masses by way of a poll.
As we know, the BBC has been looking at ways to cut back on expenditure and a story came out that they might be looking to drop the coverage of Wimbledon.
Now Wimbledon has been broadcast on the BBC since 1937 and for me, watching it on BBC is all part of the Wimbledon experience and tradition.
The contract with BBC is until 2014 so there are a few years left before anything could happen.
But the question is, do you enjoy watching it on the BBC, or would you prefer to see it split between a couple of stations, or perhaps watch it on Sky TV?
What's your thoughts on the BBC/Wimbledon debate?

Hopefully stays on BBC. I enjoy nothing more on a day in early July to lay back, have my juice in my hand, watching Wimbledon on BBC.

Hope it stays on the BBC. Don't like Sky - you pay extra and they still show adverts!

Prefer Sky with Petch & Co rather than the usual suspects on the Beeb!
Would be nice if J Mac could also get in on it as he is probably the best around on commentating.

Keep it on free-to-air tv. We can't afford Sky - if it were possible to get Sky Sports on its own we might be interested, but you have to buy the whole package - which we don't need or want - and then pay extra for sports.

Re: Wimbledon On BBC
I always thought the BBC and one of the American networks were the only TV companies allowed to transmit matches ?
Anyone else had to pay the BBC for coverage. If the BBC are making a loss on Wimby coverage then they need to charge the other networks a higher fee. They then in turn should be able to pass the cost on to the companies advertising in the breaks during the matches.
Could someone tell me if I'm right about this ?
Anyway in the UK I think it should stay on the BBC as other broadcasters will have to possibly compromise the coverage as they have to fit in advertising to cover the costs. I remember some interesting stuff happening during ad breaks when the F1 and some football matches on ITV.
