We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
You're both quite awful, but I wouldn't rule anybody out of anything yet. Liverpool are THIRTEENTH and they are just five points off a CL spot (although, they might give up on it this year, so they can make a run for it next year). The teams are just all so close this season, u don't think it would have even cleared up by Christmas (except Chelsea winning the league, they should be coronated by then). Citeh are basically trying the Suárez trick with Agüero, and while it's working at the moment, I'd say with his injury track record, the one with the thunder thighs is not someone you want to base your entire season around. If Agüero's out, Citeh struggle (hell, with Agüero in they've made heavy weather). I'd back both Utd and Arsenal to make it, but If Southampton can make it out of December still top five, I think it begins to get interesting

Forster has been pretty decent tonight.. schezney not threatened. But arsernal kept going. Luckily they finished it off though . it was a penalty seconds before which wasn't given.. The refs blushes saved.

He's not played since the United game, Got Emiliano Martinez in goal Seems a calm goalkeeper and doesn't dick about like Chesney.

Chesney was awfull start of the season.but as said your keeper wasn't threatened anyway. Is it injury or form?

I believe he has a rib injury from when he clattered into Gibbs vs United

It will be Chelsea, City, United & arsenal in the top 4. Southampton just fail vs every decent side. Shame cod I wanted them to upset the usual mix but it ain't happening. Everton going nowhere really this year, I think they are putting all eggs in Europa basket. Aguero - unbelievable

Yeh unfortunately S'oton coming up short once again but still fancy them for top 6. Where would Arsenal be without Sanchez?! unbelievable player. City seemed to have found their mojo again since the Bayern result. Thank god as a united fan we've already played them away.

Schneiderlin a huge loss for them. Let alone then Cork and then Toby. Also think Rodriguez in the side tonight would have been big. Plus Tadic getting done. I think they'll spend in Jan and be right up in the mix

much better today. Players looked sharper, and much more cutting edge. Spurs decent in attack and created a few chances but pretty ordinary in defense and once CHelsea went ahead that was that. Good to see Drogba back in good form too. Zouma looking like a good buy also.

Jose On Newcastle
'It's difficult, a difficult stadium to play at. There are a few stadiums in this country where, clearly, when they see the Chelsea shirts, they play the game of their lives.
'When they play against other teams they look like they're playing friendlies. Maybe this is because Chelsea, in the last decade, became a strong team that everybody wants to beat.'

Mikel in for the suspended Matic, other than that it's our strongest XI. Changes obviously expected for the CL, so hoping for a really strong performane today.

Nothing special from Chelsea so far, we've had the best chance. Don't see this side remaining unbeaten. Chelsea will probably win but we're doing a decent job so far.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Costa having a bit of a nightmare, Chelsea dominated the opening 30 minutes, went close a couple of times but Newcastle have come back into it really well and but for an excellent bit of goalkeeping from Courtois could have taken the lead.

i think newcastle have been lucky myself. chelsea could already have the game won. newcastle have recovered well defensively, but chelsea have looked frightening on the break. are toon changing keeper?

1-0. Cisse with the goal. Jose won't be too happy with the Chelsea defending there.

It might not be a bad thing for Chelsea to get that first loss out of the way, crazy as it sounds.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
There are just some places that some managers don't like. I think I stat I heard was that Mourinho hasn't won at St. James' Park? Or something like that? Last 6 games? Correct me if I'm wrong.
It's about time Chelsea lost anyway. They can't just stay unbeaten. This was coming sooner rather than later though I suppose.
It does seem that Chelsea haven't been good enough today. Missed a lot of chances John Hartson has just told me. That's when you know it's just not going to be you're day, you've got to accept defeat for the first time and you've got to move onto the next game and start again.
Chelsea for the title however.

That's it, full time. Just heard on the radio on my phone. Really well done Newcastle. We know they've been on some really good form recently but that will give them an even greater lift.
Top stuff the Toons (from what I've heard and read).

So Chelsea's great run is over...And if Citeh win vs Everton later their only 3pts behind them....It's a surprise considering how well Chelsea have played and how rubbish Citeh have been til Aguero hit form.

You never consider these facts until the defeat actually comes though. They all talk about Chelsea 6 points clear, well clear, but they aren't if a defeat comes.
All City can do is just win their games and see how close they get and capatalise on Chelsea's errors. Even bigger game for City at Everton now.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
That is a huge result for Newcastle and for the league itself, City now within striking distance but Pardew has done excellently to turn it around. The end of last season was a weird time for them, out of the running for Europe and safe, they had nothing to play for so their form went down the pan.
In Cisse they have a fairly inconsistent striker but one capable of going on a very good run like he is now, once he starts scoring he's very difficult to stop.
