We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
You're both quite awful, but I wouldn't rule anybody out of anything yet. Liverpool are THIRTEENTH and they are just five points off a CL spot (although, they might give up on it this year, so they can make a run for it next year). The teams are just all so close this season, u don't think it would have even cleared up by Christmas (except Chelsea winning the league, they should be coronated by then). Citeh are basically trying the Suárez trick with Agüero, and while it's working at the moment, I'd say with his injury track record, the one with the thunder thighs is not someone you want to base your entire season around. If Agüero's out, Citeh struggle (hell, with Agüero in they've made heavy weather). I'd back both Utd and Arsenal to make it, but If Southampton can make it out of December still top five, I think it begins to get interesting

TBH we should have one thread that incorporates the champs and the PL- its not like we have too much traffic is it!
It would make sense to have one thread.

I don't rate Chambers at all. He's crap at RB and if you're saying he's not a CB then he's nothing.

You couldn't make it up! Chambers is still green though, can't think of too many 19-year olds who are regulars at the back in a big clib

Jealous!! Seriously though, he's not good regardless of his age and is only playing because Arsenal have no one else, rather than him being better than other players. He might get better but surely I'm allowed to criticise him no matter how old he is?

I'm gutted for Aguero. A phenomenal player as we all know but that injury record of his is going to stop him fulfilling his talent.

If Everton get something from this game tonight and we beat Southampton on Monday then we couldn't have hoped for a better weekend.
I would never wish an injury on Aguero but if he's out for a prolonged period of time then we're bang in the hunt for second.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
I'd disagree with the remark that he is a poor player. As someone rightly said, it's not often that big clubs keep 19 year olds in their side as a regular. Having said that, I wonder if the situation changes when Debuchy returns from injury.
He's a good talent and Arsene Wenger clearly see's a lot in him. It's the potential, that's why he was bought. Look at John Stones, he's the same, just needs some time to develop and flourish. Sterling the same. Henderson has started to do it, Welbeck etc. The list goes on and on. Give it time.
But, Chambers did have a poor game today, that can be said. It's a lesson to be learnt though.

He seems to have more poor games than adequate ones which is quite worrying regardless of his age, being at a big team seem to immediately mean you've got more potential than you actually have.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Is that not the immediate thought though? Big club, better things? Arsenal have better training facilities, coaches and players than what Southampton do (regardless of the current league positions). He's only premature at the moment and today wasn't his day obviously but I don't really think you can say he has more poor games than average one's. He has been solid in most games he has played in this season to be fair with him. The red card today and poor performance was just a matter of errors and Arsenal never play well at Stoke, it's a bogey team for them.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Ignoring the fact that Southampton have a better recent history of producing young talent so I doubt the coaching available at Arsenal is any better in the slightest. Every time i've seen Chambers play he's look well below the standard expected of a top player and I don't see that changing any time soon.

He could be like Phil Jones. Had loads of promise but moved to a big club too early and appears to be ruined.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Southampton have got a better youth system, true, but I'd be sure that first team squad training facilities are different to the youth facilities. Usually at a club as well, the first team coaches have more experience/better coaches with advice and technique etc than what youth coaches are. Surely you'd agree?
Well I suppose that's your opinion but I can only think of today in his recent games where he has been well below par to be honest.
I think Phil Jones is a top class defender in honesty. But, I don't think moving to a big club early is the problem, it's about what position and role you play in. Phil Jones was constantly switched from RB, to CB and vice versa so he couldn't aid hi development properly in one position to make him much better in that position, if that makes sense. So he didn't always develop as a CB because he was switched to RB and vice versa. It could be the same with Chambers, we just don't know yet but it would it would be a huge disappointment if that was the case.

Chambers was in ahead of Clyne for a good chunk of last year too. I dont think hes had more poor games than adequate, especially at centre back. Shown real maturity in the middle for someone so young.

The thunder thighs injury might be season defining. Citeh proving again... as if we needed reminding, that they are at times toothless without Kun. Wonder what odds I could get for Utd to finish second?

I always think it's difficult. Although Lukaku is really good with his feet, the only real service you can give to a big guy like him is in the air. Without the ball, that's even harder. It's difficult for him. But he had one good chance, good shot, great save.
