We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
You're both quite awful, but I wouldn't rule anybody out of anything yet. Liverpool are THIRTEENTH and they are just five points off a CL spot (although, they might give up on it this year, so they can make a run for it next year). The teams are just all so close this season, u don't think it would have even cleared up by Christmas (except Chelsea winning the league, they should be coronated by then). Citeh are basically trying the Suárez trick with Agüero, and while it's working at the moment, I'd say with his injury track record, the one with the thunder thighs is not someone you want to base your entire season around. If Agüero's out, Citeh struggle (hell, with Agüero in they've made heavy weather). I'd back both Utd and Arsenal to make it, but If Southampton can make it out of December still top five, I think it begins to get interesting

Yeah I'd probably agree. I'd give you 8's at best.

Think we may open up a can on Leicester tomorrow.
Benteke back from suspension and looking good.
Just have a feeling it will be one of those freak results that nobody sees coming, like our 6-1 v Sunderland few seasons ago.
Im not saying that will be the score.
I just feel a good result is long overdue. We are unbeaten in 4 and these are the teams we need to be taking points off.
Going for 3/4-1.
Call me crazy, but i feel it.

I think it's going to be a poor Super Sunday tomorrow.
WHU vs SWA
AV vs LEI
I can just see that top game being the best. I believe Leicester are going straight back down, but it's very close at the moment so nothing is guaranteed as it stands. It could be interesting or it could be 2 0-0 draws if I'm honest.

West Ham vs Swansea has the potential to be a class game. Vila vs Leicester on the other hand will be a snore fest.

Every team has to be on tv a minimum number of times so sometimes they show a duff game to get 2 teams crossed off the list!

Its good to see Papiss back scoring some goals. He seemed to suddenly become a busted flush, but hes picked up real striker's goals this season.
Jack Colback should get another chance in the England squad, even if it annoys the life out of me with him not being any better than Nobes

Oh dear oh Dear. How on earth did Giroud miss that header?
Bojan is showing he is the player we all thought he would be.
Referee had a bit of mare in the second half. How the 4th Stoke got disallowed baffles the mind. Missed a lot of Stoke fouls on Arsenal as well.
2 stupid bookings by Chambers, still the kid will learn. Still think we have a future English star in him.

Poor Aguero, really will be a shame if he is out for the rest of the season for all.
Referee really did screw Everton over. Awarded a poor penalty decision to Citeh and let 2 Everton players get Sweet chin music-ed.

Looked like an accident to me.
Zaha and eriksen very good though.
None of them ended up in goals, as the guys just pointed out shearer had no skills except for hitting the ball unbelievably hard on target and he did alroght.

Liverpool were expected to be a good view this season and look how that's turned out. Football for all, I say!
Only live games I watch are when Villa are involved.
I just have no interest to sit and watch 90+ minutes of 2 teams I have no interest in.
Only exception would be the odd time Bournemouth are on.

I know what you're saying Ent but surely the Premier League have got to try and get these smaller teams on against a bigger side. Look at United vs Hull, that would have been a perfect game to put Hull on TV for (but I know they were on against Spurs the other week). But, I think you get my point, a smaller team on vs a bigger team or two relegation threatened teams against each other (QPR vs Burnley). Not a mid-table team vs a mid-table team and a por home side Villa against a overall poor team Leicester.

Gets them both off the list.
CL this week so those teams involved needed to play on Saturday. Chelsea, City, Everton, United, Southampton also on TV this set of fixtures.
Can't be helped really.

Yes I do agree with you and it is difficult when it's a Champions League weekend but I'm sure they'll have had plenty of opportunities to get some of these teams on TV against a bigger team.

Know what you are saying but this ticks of 2 teams with one televised game, would take 2 games to show them against the big teams. These seemingly uninteresting games pop up a few times a season.
Lets be honest here, even the relegation battles are only interesting in the last 6 weeks or so of the season and who wants to see the Europa league sides facing the lower half teams (as a neutral). Be a lot of games to fit in them playing the CL sides - especially when the CL and EL sides playing each other are guaranteed to be on.

On the other had is a man u v chelsea always going to be a better game then a hull v sunderland? for example.
maybe, maybe not.
but if the first ends 0-0 and the second is 3-3, i know which game i would rather watch on MOTD.
Having two of the top 4/5 on doesn't mean it will be a better game involving two of the bottom 4/5.
The lesser teams playing each other may just be the better game.

I presume their own fans enjoy watching them on TV, the discussion was of course based on the neutral fan - and why such a seemingly uninspiring game had been chosen for a Super Sunday game.

More than likely it will be a better game quality wise, entertainment wise it may not be. The same can be said as a big side getting a routine win over a team lower in the table, mightn't be that entertaining.

will every neutral fan find it uninspiring?
maybe more so from fans of clubs in Europe/top half.
fans of clubs down the bottom might find it a bit more interesting.
might be wrong, who knows.

13th vs bottom, 7 goals between them in their last 7 games. Leicester not won in 10.
In early December?
It might be a cracker but you can see why on paper it seems a little uninspiring.

It seems pretty naive as a football fan to think only games involving the "big" clubs will be entertaining. Or even are more likely to be entertaining.

So Jose is moaning about the Newcastle ball boys now........Well I mean he always has to blame someone for a defeat......
Fancy timewasting like that.......Not like Chelsea did any of that at City when they were 1-0 up...
Only one team was trying to play football yesterday.....again a bit like City v Chelsea....and Liverpool v Chelsea at anfield last year !!
Stop making a fool of yourself !!..... and try to be more gracious !!

To me they are, I'm more into seeing quality on display.
I've no real interest in seeing 2 poor sides score a few goals.
Obviously there has to be a happy medium for most people as you could just go down the local park for free or watch lower division/non league stuff for cheaper if you wanted to watch "entertaining" but low quality games.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Over the past 18 months I can safely say it hasn't been very entertaining watching United or any of the other big teams knowing they're above us. It's starting to change now but the most entertaining games usually feature the mid table sides (United jokes aside) like Everton, Tottenham, Southampton and Newcastle. A lot of quality on show but a vulnerability that makes the games interesting.
