We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
You're both quite awful, but I wouldn't rule anybody out of anything yet. Liverpool are THIRTEENTH and they are just five points off a CL spot (although, they might give up on it this year, so they can make a run for it next year). The teams are just all so close this season, u don't think it would have even cleared up by Christmas (except Chelsea winning the league, they should be coronated by then). Citeh are basically trying the Suárez trick with Agüero, and while it's working at the moment, I'd say with his injury track record, the one with the thunder thighs is not someone you want to base your entire season around. If Agüero's out, Citeh struggle (hell, with Agüero in they've made heavy weather). I'd back both Utd and Arsenal to make it, but If Southampton can make it out of December still top five, I think it begins to get interesting

Its about time Liverpool played the false nine. The concern is why it took Rodgers so long to use it.
I have put my money on United. But know I am not sure!

Watching highlights of the Chelsea game. Once again a prat wrecks the game. Officials wrecking games of football still. Poor old Bruce.

I'd fancy Liverpool's bench to beat the team they've put out today

Very early days I know. But really like the way Liverpool are set up. They've bossed the opening 10 minutes.

Awful, awful defending.
Can't understand why Joe Allen is playing today, totally not needed.

Raheem could of put Liverpool 1 up. Rooney scores up the other end. Great finish by Rooney, no doubt everyone will still slate him

Raheem's effort was poor but that defending was a shambles. That's Rodgers way though....

The most frustrating thing about Joe Allen is he very rarely ever picks a good pass, he always passes to somebody under a lot of pressure, he's got no range, no ability to thread it through but can't make up for that with a football brain to make sure if he wants to keep it ticking over, he passes to somebody not surrounded by defenders.

Sterling so low on confidence, remember his finish at Manchester City last year? Think he needs a goal badly.

Yeah you won't see many goals given that are that offside.
Not an excuse though, defensively been absolutely atrocious. Valencia and Young are two of the most simple players there are and yet the defence seems completely confused by them.

I'd guess the linesman has missed the rvp touch.
No other explanation really.
Liverpool are terrible, ynited have had 2 proper attacks and scored twice.

If you watch that Rooney goal again Gerrard does a really good job of making sure he isnt within five yards of a united player

Yeah and I mean where was he to follow through on Sterling's chance?
I mean second chance, surely he should have tracked Mata?
Why has he told Rodgers to drop Mignolet for Jones?
And I mean causing Johnson's injury to cause an early change....so weird from Gerrard...

I do think you're grasping a bit to make that Gerrard's fault. He's a little out of position but hes also stranded centrally with no help and would be completely right to expect Coutinho to do a lot more than he did

Yeah. I'm pretty sure sending off Cahill would change the result. A lesser Chelsea side got a 2-2 draw at the Nou Camp with 10 men. Sure this team can see out Hull with a man down.
Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Well he's not immune for criticism, but when you're picking him up for things which are very barely anything to do with him, it does become a bit silly.

I genuinely did not think Gerrard was playing until I saw him standing over a free-kick after 45 minutes.
Total passenger.

He's not a natural finisher, but he showed many times last season that he can definitely finish. Definitely think it's a confidence issue right now, he hasn't scored for a while I'm pretty sure.

Think Sterling last season he can keep his cool infront of goal. The goal against Man City springs to mind.

this kid is liverpools only hope and sadly everything is on his shoulders- It is effecting him negatively
he shouldn't even be playing every game .. the sooner sturridge comes back the better.
last season with Suraez and sturridge doing the business- he could just play football with freedom and his finishing was actually very good as nick says.

He pretty much dallied on that and got a bit lucky imo.
Looks the complete opposite of the player he was, speed and excitement with no end product.

I thought it last season and the City goal doesnt really make me think any different. I thought Hart did poor and made it ridiculously easy for Sterling, who 9/10 times should have shot earlier

David De Gea is too good, the more saves he makes, the harder the psychological barrier will be to overcome.
Going for it it seems from Rodgers, basically playing 3-2-3-2
