We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
You're both quite awful, but I wouldn't rule anybody out of anything yet. Liverpool are THIRTEENTH and they are just five points off a CL spot (although, they might give up on it this year, so they can make a run for it next year). The teams are just all so close this season, u don't think it would have even cleared up by Christmas (except Chelsea winning the league, they should be coronated by then). Citeh are basically trying the Suárez trick with Agüero, and while it's working at the moment, I'd say with his injury track record, the one with the thunder thighs is not someone you want to base your entire season around. If Agüero's out, Citeh struggle (hell, with Agüero in they've made heavy weather). I'd back both Utd and Arsenal to make it, but If Southampton can make it out of December still top five, I think it begins to get interesting

Dolphin Ziggler wrote:Both would be grand. Bony another good idea. Reid should have been taken from us in the summer. You'd have thought that Rodgers would have taken an interest in Welbeck at that price too, a man who has played with Sturridge a lot and works as hard as any striker remaining in this league.
The desperate way they are treating Borini, who the club clearly want rid of, yet would offer better than the nothing they have put up there at times. And the Sterling, Coutinho, Lallana three has been terribly frustrating, they are taking up so much of the same space.
Rodgers does come across as being completely clueless, it's as if his tactic is to get all his best attacking players on the pitch but completely ignore the shape of the team. Everybody could see that Lallana wasn't going to work because they have to many players who use the same space as you say and signing Balotelli was doomed from the start, trying to be too clever.

They get a proven PL cb, who's commanding and brings leadership, something they desperately need, and also a proven PL striker (if he stays fit) who gives them some physical presence and also movement in behind?
Think Vlaar will be off next month.
Utd, Saints, being linked with him. Rather he went in jan, so we could get some money for him.
Benteke, cant afford to lose him at the moment. May well be off in the summer, would be surprised if he left next month. Has 1 more season after this left on his contract.
Hope he can start to bang some more goals in. Bit of a shocker against the Baggies.
Couple against Utd saturday would be good.

Tbf at the time that was a very reasonable thing to say and most Southampton fans were saying it as well. No one could say they've seen this Southampton success coming since then.Olly wrote:Remember when people said Southampton would regret sacking Nigel Adkins?

I shall begin by saying that it is only QPR, which it is, but I do like Barkley playing a deeper role, and would be a supporter of him playing there for his country alongside Henderson - if only Roy would revert back to the balanced 4-2-3-1, and not the lopsided diamond which will cause no end of trouble.
But that is England, and this is Everton, who have been highly impressive. Particularly Mirallas.
Even if it is only QPR.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Roy doesn't fancy Barkley, can't see him forcing his way into side. Roy hates Barkleys ill discipline. Without the deflection, shot was going wide. Horrible 45 mins for QPR, two deflections & no real threat. Basically game over

no surprises on the result. Everton weren't that great but didn't need to be to beat a poor QPR side. Don't see them staying up tbh, looking like Leicester, QPR and Burnley.

BUrnley seem to have a bit about them- I wouldn't rule out palace, Hull or sunderland for the drop..
Palace for all there decent play last 5 games have only picked up 6 points. Under pulis we turned those performances into wins..

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
IMO all of these GK's in the PL are better than Howard
De Gea
Courtois
Cech
Chesney
Lloris
Forster
Foster
Hart
Krul
Begovic
Guzan
And then there's a whole bunch like Mignolet, Adrian, Green, Fabianski, Speroni who I'd put on a par with him.
Very much past it for me is Howard
De Gea
Courtois
Cech
Chesney
Lloris
Forster
Foster
Hart
Krul
Begovic
Guzan

Foster does not deserve to be in that list, very average keeper.
Howard is pretty decent, most of the keepers in this league are. Outside of the top 2 you'll see plenty mistakes, Cech based on form to be fair.

He never has been and still isnt any better than Rob Green. Green is a fine keeper, as is Foster, but they are genuinely quite average. I don't rate Foster at all sorry, don't think hes progressed at all since his United days. 31 now and he still hasnt got the strength of command he should have.

Great striker, probably the best forward we've seen, but I wouldn't say the greatest ever PL player.
As for him in Sky, woeful decision. It will be, 'it was eerrrrr a great eerrrrrr goal, fantastic, errrrr.......I think errrrrrrr, it was am, am, am, amazing'. Hopefully he just does the midweek champions league slot but can see him taking over the gaffe.
