Tonight's fights
First topic message reminder :
Anybody know the time of Andy Lee's fight? I've seen that khan has tweeted he's ring walking at 4am. Anybody staying up for the fights?

Re: Tonight's fights
To be honest Owen, I'd struggle to give Bundu rounds in this fight. Maybe the odd one.
But after three rounds that were more like a sparring session for Thurman, the other nine have all been competitive. I'm half way between what you guys are saying and what the Sky team were alluding to; Bundu did a good job and stuck to his task well, but Thurman did seem to be giving him a little too much respect as well. He's the young knockout artist but he's spent much of that fight on the back foot against a forty-year-old non-puncher.
Thurman's shut out a decent, unbeaten fighter there but his performance plateaued after the first few rounds and he looked to be a bit short of ideas after a while. No point in any more of these gate keeper opponents now - get him in there with a Maidana or a Brook in 2015. I think he can beat both, but there was cause for hope for the pair of them tonight.

Re: Tonight's fights
The question that left me with; I wonder whether Thurman would be comfortable with a Maidana or Porter pressing him. Bundu pressed but showed little aggression..when he did in Rounds 7,8,9 he had a bit more success and Thurman wasn't looking all that comfortable.
lastbellender - I actually disagree there, I think his kryptonite will be someone who has a chin and can push the pace and get on his chest. Counter punch can time him but would they give him enough to think about in terms of punch output, don't think they would. For me punch output and stamina beats Thurman. That isn't to say anyone with those attributes will beat him...but someone in the top tier could.

Lee-Korobov is under way. Missed the first round but Lee is having trouble with the range in the second.

Re: Tonight's fights
I can see Maidana beating Thurman all he has to do is survive the early rounds then put it on him just like Bundu did

Re: Tonight's fights
Lee shook Korobov with a couple of those shots, much better from Lee after a good start from Korobov in the first 2 rounds

Re: Tonight's fights
The thing is Owen Thurmans punches after round 5/6 were so easy to see a good counter puncher would tee off all night long if only Marquez was bigger and younger.

Re: Tonight's fights
I will say Alexander by knockout; say the sixth, seventh, or eighth round.
Do not think the chin of Khan will stand up to the scrutiny. And he has one eye on Floyd...again!
Should be exciting, though!

Re: Tonight's fights
Really hope Khan wins but going to call it and say were in for the susceptible Khan tonight...Alexander to KO him early! (*crosses fingers and prays not*)
Re: Tonight's fights
With the glasses Maidana looks like Alan Carr, doesn't he?

Re: Tonight's fights
Four rounds in to Lee-Korobov and it's been turgid so far. Korobov's work is messy but he's had the clear upper hand so far. Lee just stuck on the outside, struggling to really get off with any shots.
Leaving that one for the time being though - over to Khan and Alexander.

Re: Tonight's fights
Actually got no idea who wins so I bet referee goes crazy and bites Alexander ear off
Re: Tonight's fights
theres no chance Alexander will KO Khan if Maidana couldn't do it Devon certainly cant do it

Re: Tonight's fights
Good from khan until the last 30 seconds seemed to lose his composure a bit, needs to stick to boxing has Alexander on speed and has him beat on the outside

Re: Tonight's fights
Khan wins second nice few flurries couple clean hits but reaching a little bit with that jab and might let Alexander time him later
Re: Tonight's fights
Good khan round, Devon doing well to make Khan miss most of these flurries though

Re: Tonight's fights
Alexander panicking through flurries not getting his right hand back to guard quick enough. Nice few clean hits from khan and spoiling and fainting 3 0 khan
Re: Tonight's fights
Wobbled him at the end! Devon is a dirty bugger mind, bit of intent with the head and then a low blow. Nice from Khan, don't get dragged into a war with the goading though!

Haha, didn't see that coming based on those first four rounds, Marky! But great news and I'm chuffed for Lee.

Re: Tonight's fights
Alexander tryna force countering but not quick enough to take advantage khan smacking him a few times clean Alexander neither attacking or defending stuck in middle and Kuan head and body work is pretty accurate. Khan 4 0
Re: Tonight's fights
First 4 in the bag...if your Khan now just circle and make Alexander come on to him. Counter him and make him engage...you do that and you reduce the chances of leaving yourself open.
Re: Tonight's fights
Khan seems to just be able too outwork Devon, just too quick for devon atm

Re: Tonight's fights
Khan winning with counter jabs and three punch flurries Devon clocked him but too hesitant to follow up khan again taking over again boom boom clean hitting from khan again couple of wild moments but still fairly comfortable 5 0
Re: Tonight's fights
Eugh did not like that round lol! Bit too close given the pattern of the first 4! Amir has to find the right balance of what is too little and too much offence.

Khan looking great... Just like he did against Garcia

Re: Tonight's fights
Devon sitting behind jab but not doing much with it sitting behind a guard again a khan one two and a couple of left hooks sneaking in all clean work from khan 6 0 much smarter and restrained from khan excellent use of reach
Re: Tonight's fights
Wow...that was imperious! That's all he has to do now, wait on Alexander to make the mistakes. Even if he is doing nothing for 2 mins all Khan has to do is counter him like that. Beautiful! Concern is he doesn't seem to have the power to deter Alexander..
Re: Tonight's fights
Khan not really putting naything on these shots but he's scoring and Devon is not, easy fight to scroe so far

Re: Tonight's fights
Devon going for it but not landing khan is landing some serious leather clean stopping Devon in his tracks not great from Alexander but at least he's giving it a go and trying new things 7 0
Re: Tonight's fights
Mentally he isn't...but physically Alexander is pretty tough. May not have sat down on all the shots but Khan has caught him with some pretty hard and clean shots.
Re: Tonight's fights
Khan even counter-punching the counter-puncher in the seventh. That said, don't know about you guys but every time they both swing in the exchanges and I hear those 'huh huh eurgh!' sounds from Khan I get a terrible flash back to that Garcia left hook!
But 7-0 to Khan so far. Excellent performance.

Re: Tonight's fights
Khan still winning but getting loose ooh boom Devon lands oh again Alexander winning this round but sitting back again. He's going to have to get a move on 7-1
Re: Tonight's fights
Khan has no power at all against WW only speed and technically OK no inside game, judging by this fight he doesn't pose Mayweather any problems at all

Re: Tonight's fights
Khan starting strong now much better now Alexander not reacting well to flurries but gives some of his own khan blocks it. Alexander reaching and khan winning because Alexander not doing enough. Khan sitting back now waiting and Devon only landing on end of punch no venom 8 1 khan
Re: Tonight's fights
You say that last bellender....his speed is the problem. Even when he has been KTFO he has always given his opponents trouble before hand. Save prescott!
Re: Tonight's fights
Bradley vs Chaves is a fun fight, good inside work from both, marred by headbutts though sadly

Re: Tonight's fights
Alexander sitting on his punches giving time khan time to block or move all good work from khan Devon either not trying enough or trying to hard. Khan 9 1
Re: Tonight's fights
Superb 10th round from Khan. 9-1 with all the rounds pretty straight-forward to score, for me.

Re: Tonight's fights
I know Alexander tends to pack it in when it's not going his way but this is phenomenal from Khan...making him look amateur here. 6 mins left. Come on Khan...nothing stupid now!
Re: Tonight's fights
Ive seen plenty that might trouble floyd. Since when did khan need to knock guys out.
