Yep I stand corrected. He's a top bloke our Dylan, doubt we'll see much charity from him, which is what's needed!

"The board of Newport Gwent Dragons has been boosted by the return of former Director and owner of Bisley Office Furniture Tony Brown and the appointment of Celtic Manor Chief Executive Dylan Matthews.
Tony Brown who was instrumental in the creation of the Newport Gwent Dragons has remained involved through Bisley’s sponsorship of the region.Mr Brown is the major shareholder in Newport RFC, who own Rodney Parade and 50% of the regional side.
Dylan Matthews will act as a consultant for the region, with particular reference to the management of the corporate facilities housed in Rodney Parade’s state of the art new East stand, due to be completed in the summer. Having overseen the organisation of the Ryder Cup 2010, Mr Matthews’ will bring a great deal of expertise and enable the region to capitalise on this new facility.
Dragons Chairman Martyn Hazell said “We are delighted that Tony and Dylan have agreed to join us. These appointments are not about short-term cash injections or quick fixes, but about bringing credibility and expertise to our board, which will enable the Region to build a bright and secure future."

So expertise being put in, not cash?

I agree and have been disappointed by Lyn this season. In the past we have usually been able to attack when we have had the opportunities but our forwards have let us down.
Now this season we seem to be holding our own up front but its the backs that have been poor, I know pre season there were rumours linking Howarth as our attack coach, for me that would have been a great move but seemd to be just rumours.
I agree with the attack suffering but the defence is much improved in recent games and it was Lyn who took on Kingsly, this is similar to the Scarlets but they sre showing signs of improvement. I believe the lacking few quality players and this will need funding

I agree with all the comments, however is anyone surprised by this? Look at Lyn's previous teams, hardly known for razor sharp attack - even when he had hook henson williams and bowe at the ospreys they were more about bludgeoning teams up front than dazzling running...
I also think the squad lacks depth - injuries aside - when we take for example landman, harris, stanlovich and shanksy out of the equation we look very weak again

Yeah - I can't see why it would be two back-row forwards. If we put Coombs back to 6 where he should be then we look pretty stocked in the back-row. With Stanko injured and old, I'd be looking for more front 5 forwards, and maybe a fly-half. I don't understand why we're supposedly bringing in that one flanker from Chiefs and the other from Wasps.

I can understand one signing. We need eight cover, as proven by playing Lewis at 8. I'm not saying he's done anything wrong, but I'd rather him concentrate on 6/7.

I suppose. I hope he'd be a good 8 then. But front 5 and fly-half should be priority I reckon.

Re: Cardiff v Puff the magic dragon - Boxing Day
Just wanted to say Martyn Williams is beginning to annoy me. He's so dismissive of the Dragons. He was on Scrum V yesterday and was asked his prediction for Sunday's game. (Bear in mind he said he could only see one winner in the Boxing Day game). He said that game was a great result - must have been painful for him - then said we were really poor in the return match. I agree we weren't great, but your lot still only beat us by two points, sunshine, they're not the Harlem Globetrotters.
For the record, I think we'll probably lose on Sunday too, but I just thought it was a biased, incomplete and downright poor analysis (granted, he wasn't given long). The last three or four games have shown that the Os have certain clear weaknesses where we happen to be pretty strong; but no mention or acknowledgement of that. If we're allowed to scrummage, and if we can get field position for our driving lineout, then it'll be very interesting.
On the other hand, kick poorly to Dan Evans and Eli Walker, and we're sunk.

Both teams weren't that great, Cardiff slightly better I spose, but both will be in the Bic Biro next season and deservedly so. If you beat the Os tomorrow, i'll eat my hat collection.
