hopefully it stays goalless at Goodison, will force Pellegrini to put Kun on earlier. My fantasy team has been a mess without him

Very different set up and style. Not bad though tbh, we have had more possession than normal..Murray needs to come off. Gayle in the middle, Zaha on left.

Unbelievable energy on and of the ball..
Good start by pardew. He has thrown caution to the wind. And I don't think we have ever had this much possesion in a match in the Pl since coming up(v a top team).
Kane's goal was clinical and he probally has hard done by on his penalty shout.. But we had more chances(and they should have had a player sent of before) and deserve the win.

We played well at the Bridge, unfortunate really. Cabella was the standout & Moussa was always a threat, be surprised if Remi Garde isn't appointed & tries to develop Cabella & plays him more often.
Good result for Palace & Pardew, inevitable really with the new manager boost.

Are you still confident about Safety There is always one that drops and can see it happening if someone forks out for Moussa.

It's Leicester, QPR, Hull, Sunderland, Palace & Villa. 3 from those 6. Nobody will drop from the mid-table positions & WBA are safe with Pulis.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Newcastle should be kicking themselves really. More than matched Chelsea in the first half, but switched off for a few seconds to concede a sloppy goal to a short corner, and Chelsea never looked back, dominating the rest of proceedings to seal an ultimately comfortable win. Pleased to be back on top, obviously.
Can't see Newcastle being relegated. Suspect Pullis will do enough to keep WBA up, and Everton should have too much quality, but given only 5 points separate 12th from bottom could reallistically see any of those teams go down. If you push me, I'd go Leicester, QPR and Burnley, but not with too much conviction.

For all our domination in the first half, you knew the difference would be clinical finishing. You've got Diego Costa, while our finisher is probably contracting Ebola in Africa somewhere.
We'll be fine in avoiding relegation but, unfortunately, we've manoeuvred ourselves into no-man's land in terms of league position for the second year running, which breeds complacency.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
OK, have watched the goals again, and changed my mind, slightly. I think on reflection that the first goal is good smart thinking by Willian to take the corner quickly, he spots that Newcastle aren't quite organised (and one of their big defenders is taken out of play next to the corner flag). Still think it's a little dozy from Newcastle though, you see a few players just walking or trotting back when the ball goes out of play, and they just don't react quickly enough. Soft goal to concede for me.
The second goal is obviously class, and does highlight that extra quality that John mentions, but for me Newcastle should be angry at the first goal. Agree Newcastle will be safe, but as John says that'll be two years in a row where they're left fighting for a slightly better place in midtable anonymity. Just feel that that seems to be their level at the moment...

Another typically poor goal by an aerial bully thug like Andrew Carroll. We win that game with Song playing, or if we dont get punished by Collins having to go off cos of his head knock even though he got up and was fine. His man from the corners before is the one who scores. Little rules like that need a look over. Happy though, draw away at a team we're competing with in the table, 4 points from Swansea overall. Would be happy to finish 8th, and I see it as us and Swansea finishing 8th and 9th in either order.

I see Champagne "sityeation" Charlie Nicholas has apologised for saying Fernando and Fernandinho look the same. Why? What's wrong with saying that? They do look alike, do play on the same side and have similar names.
Gerrard looks very like Xabi Alonso, should I apologise for making the comparison?

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
How is it racist to say two guys look the same if they are black, but not if they are white?
If you are watching guys playing football on the same side from a commentary position it's easy to get mixed up with which is which.
Perhaps Charlie should have said "they look similar" or "it's easy to mistake them" but come on, it isn't racist to say someone looks the same as someone else. If they'd been white, no one would be making him apologise. It's pathetic.
What if a black commentator had said the same of two white players? Would anyone care? No.
Good win for Palace last night Oakey, first time I've watched MOTD in months.

That's not an answer Oakey. It sounds far more like people looking for racist overtones, "just incase"
Like I said, who'd care if a black commentator said the same of two white players?

Embarrasing stuff. Would it be happening if he said Cambiasso & Konchesky look the same. No chance. Whoever complained about this comment is pathetic. Never racist in a billion years.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Unfortunately, that's the world we live in now. You can see why this comment has been perceived as having racist undertones by some easily offended people, he was just inviting trouble really. People, generally, are easily offended & go out of their way to make sure you know about it these days. It's not a racist comment but, Sky obviously don't want to be involved in an escalating story regarding this matter, so forced an early apology after the game. Move on
