Pascal Vs Kovalev March 14 Montreal.
First topic message reminder :
So Pascal Vs Kovalev is signed, I'm sure its well know at this point but as I didn't see another thread, I thought it might be worth posting. I'm not really sure what to expect out of this fight, the obvious result would be another KO win for Kovalev, but Pascal has a pretty soild chin, I'm sure someone will correct me on him hitting the canvas, but in my vino fueled mind, I just cant recollect.
Kovalev has been must see TV for a while now, so I'd expect the 2nd biggest fight he can make in the Canada to continue to be edge of the seat viewing, (I also see Pascal as presenting a bigger test for him than Steveson, Kovalev would crack the pimp's chin at somepoint, but thats by the by).
Its slow going on the boards this festive season, Any takers for this fight, and how do you see it going?

He could blow Ward out the water and you'd still slate him.
What fight has SuperDuck been in that's more exciting than Kov's dismantling of Hoppo (a guy who's career has been based on making hyped fighters look bad)??:
I thought Mayweather - Hatton was more exciting for a start.............
Me I don't find 50 year olds that exciting..............My Wife is heading there in the next couple of years and she's a case in point..
How many top class Eastern Europeans have there been...........??...(one thing for sure is YOU won't know !!) I rated Ivan Drago..
I've already said GGG will be p4p number 1....

I don't find Hoppo exciting either. Can't stand him. But that's what made the fight exciting - the a guy known for making fights ugly and difficult to win for the other side was totally turned over in a brutal one-sided performance like Hoppo hasn't suffered in years and years, arguably ever.
Lack of 'top class' EE's has more to do with them always staying amateur until recently. No they're breaking free of those shackles it's producing the most exciting fighters in the world.

I see where Truss is coming from even if I do disagree, Stevenson has a more aesthetically pleasing style but that boils down to being a fair bit quicker but Kovalev is the one taking on the challenges and doing it with ease.

I don't think Kovalev has proven himself a class above and beyond Stevenson yet by any means. Think it's reaching a bit to try and draw any way to criticise Stevenson with regards to the Bellew fight - Bellew fought negatively and Stevenson was literally having to chase him. Six rounds isn't that long. Sure, maybe Kovalev would have walked him down a bit quicker, but what does that matter? Would Kovalev have sparked Dawson in one round? Probably not.
Kovalev's got the momentum at the moment and he'd start as favourite, but in a fight where whoever lands that first big shot coul be a massive factor you'd have to be daft to assume it's got a Kovalev win written all over it. If indeed Golovkin was able to drop him with body shots, then you'd have to consider the fact that Stevenson is one of the best body attackers out there (he got some stick for his Fonfara performance, but his body work in that fight was arguably the key reason he kept Fonfara in check for the most part) and he throws fast punches from awkward angles, albeit they're almost exclusively his left and he doesn't throw a great torrent of them.
As I and a few others keep saying, we've not seen Kovalev have to deal with any heavy artillery so far. If his chin and all-round durability matches the rest of his game then he'd probably beat Stevenson, as we know Adonis is a bit one-handed, doesn't work at a stunning pace and can be shaken up - but if they don't, then Sergey could be in a world of trouble for all we know.
Still a fight that has to happen, for me.

He was also dropped against Caparello in a fight I didn't even know had happened, looked wide open to the left hand the whole first round and was moving straight back every time it was thrown which attributed to the knockdown.

Yeah, his footwork let him down there - more a balance issue than anything else.
