It's the Super Bowl that 9 out of 10 of us would have predicted back in August/September. Lack of a surprise package is a bit boring but I do like a Belichick/Brady Super Bowl. I hope they stuff Seattle who, frankly, really shouldn't be there. Oh Green Bay.

I love how we just put up 45 points on a team and Gronk barely had a catch and we had Josh Kline starting on the O-line.

It is the first time since 1985 that the two top seeds have reached successive Super Bowls and it is the first time since 1991 that the same division have had three successive teams in the Super Bowl.

Yeah... I feel wonderful...
I would describe that as throwing it (or rushing it) all away. 3 key moments to end it properly, or likely end it and we failed each time.

I avoided the internet all day yesterday so I could watch the Pats/Colts game on Gamepass when I got home. AND THEN IT WAS STILL BLACKED OUT AND I LOST MY SH!T. Why bother offering a "Season Plus" package including the playoffs if you can't actually watch them live?
I hate the Seahawks so, so much. I can't believe I'm going to be pulling for a Patriots win, but I hope they play with flat balls and destroy the luckiest NFC Champion in history.

I was actually enjoying watching Wilson struggle. And now he gets praise for throwing 4 INTs and nearly costing his team the game but somehow still winning.

Yeah its why the Pats are great winners and why they're so unlikable. Belichick will take any advantage he can get, small or large, and sometimes legal or not. Id hope it wouldn't be some later picks given he's a serial offender.

The nfl ball rules are pretty ridiculous, why you wouldn't just have the refs have the game balls I dunno. Bit stupid if we have done that, but hardly the end of life (Rodgers for example is on record saying he likes his balls overinflated)
Am finding it hilarious the overreaction because it's the pats. Even Baltimore are trying to get in on the act claiming the kickoff balls were uninflated when the refs control those ones lol
Should be a fine abd a slap on the wrist. Belichick will love it tho, us against the world mentality etc

Yeah it is, but the impact is hardly spygate or bountygate so losing draft picks is a little much

Get ready for pandoras box if you're judging on severity of cheating. To this day there are people who believe Spygate had minimal impact.
They should lose draft picks just for being repeat offenders at the very least

Well this is if it's all true, espn aren't right all the time, does seem a bit weird they'd do it to 11 out of 12 balls, not all
It's a judgement call either way if true, and yeah you're right about the pandoras box. We need to get better at not being caught

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Before this weekend I would have said a Colts Packers game would have been my preferred option, but I'm not disappointed we've gotten there.
I just don't understand this deflate-gate though. Why choose a game this important to pull a stunt that is so easily detected? I'm not saying we need to get better at cheating because I don't think we need to in order to win. I'll be interested to see how it was picked up and how many other balls were tested across the NFL throughout the season.

Take a 3rd Round draft pick off them. Maybe they will think twice about cheating again, especially cheating when its claimed it makes no difference.

I am guessing that the one properly inflated ball was for the Kicker to use as the lesser the pressure the harder to kick longer distances would become.

I'm confused. Well, more than usual. Reading an article on the BBC and they were saying that each team had their own balls for when they were attacking. I had assumed from what I'd read that the home team provided the balls and everyone used the same balls.
Which is the case?

I don't really see the problem. If the players, officials felt the balls where deflated/ not up to standard wouldn't they just get another ball or asked for them to be inflated?

According to people at the senior bowl most of the teams are peed at Indy for bringing it up as it'll mean their QB won't be able to use whatever they want now
Indy do this everytime they lose a big game, they basically changed the rules after they complained in 03

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
This is becoming farcical. If the Coach, QB or organisation can be found guilty of ball tampering they should be punished. But the NFL is handling this all wrong.
The deflated balls did not affect the outcome of the game. After half time Brady went 9/9 and the Pats won the second half 28-0. The Colts admit the balls did not affect the outcome of the game.
The Colts DE who intercepted Brady and apparently turned a suspect ball over to the officials is now saying he didn't. He kept the ball because it was his first interception. As far as he knew he still had the ball, and only found out on the coach home that the officials had taken it.
The Ravens are now saying they tipped the Colts off to deflated balls. So why didn't the Colts tell the officials? Apparently the officials were always going to check the balls at half time. Why not just before kick-off? And now the Colts are saying they had concerns after the first meeting between the two earlier in the season. Again, why wasn't it investigated at the time, when it probably would have been a minor story, and is left until just before the SB?
The penalty for ball tampering is $25,000. Even if they got charged that for each ball it would have been better for the Pats to just pay up and do away with the media frenzy. To carry on denying means they're either stupid or innocent. Or colossally arrogant. I think its safe to say its one of the latter two.
