I can't take those Patriots' press conference seriously with quotes like "My balls are perfect" and " I didn't want anyone touching and rubbing my balls".

I've decided what's going to happen
We're gonna win this Super Bowl and Brady will tie Montana with his 4th ring.
Then next year, at Super Bowl 50, in San Francisco, Brady will surpass Montana by winning his 5th ring in the place he grew up and go out on top

I don't see what the problem is as per the NFL rules. It should have been upto the officials to determine any problem and if so deal with it:-
"The Referee shall be the sole judge as to whether all balls offered for play comply with these specifications".
"In the event a home team ball does not conform to specifications, or its supply is exhausted, the Referee shall secure a proper
ball from the visitors and, failing that, use the best available ball".

No doubt if the Patriots are deflating balls... Every team in the NFL is deflating balls. They can't be the only team 'clever/ cunning' enough to think it up.Skyforger wrote:Those rules only apply to the other 31 teams in the league.

Seeing the season is now all but done, can anyone give me a heads up on this years draft class?
I'm not up to speed on College football, so who's to look out for and who's going be first pick?

Alcohol being tested for is a bit harsh isn't it? Not illegal to have a couple of beers, he's a grown ass man.
If it were weed then sure, but alcohol resulting in a year suspension?

There's a threshold he has to pass (like a dui etc)
Its a year because of past failed tests. And alcohol was only added to his tests because he had a dui.
A NFL career clearly doesn't matter to this guy. Sad really.

I get that, but come on, he can't have a beer because he had a DUI?
People that get caught drink driving over here aren't subject to regular checks to see if they've had a sneaky pina colada.
It's like testing him for nicotine if he got caught smoking indoors.

Because he got a dui and he's had many failed drug tests it got added to his program.
I get alcohol sounds harsh but if he had any desire to be a NFL player/star, he'd put the bottle down

You have to go Jameis number 1 if you're Tampa. Worth a punt, even if he has some 'issues'. Bit of a crap draft really, not a patch on last year's talent.

Sorry to drag this back to the deflate thing but a few things I don't get.
The officials touch the ball before every snap. Why didn't they notice anything?
Only deflated in the first half, when it was relatively close, so NE blew Indy away with fully inflated balls in the second.

He's so much more pro-ready than Mariota though. I'd take the punt, but the interviews will be the big thing for him. The other option is Leonard Williams, who probably is the best player in the draft.

Winston's easily the better player, he's just very very immature. Not sure Mariota is much better than someone like Locker

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota are the two stand-out QBs in the draft. After that there is not much depth at QB. You would be looking at Brett Hundley and possibly Bryce Petty or Garrett Grayson. That will mean the QB free agency will have more value.TM Moot wrote:Heard of Jameis, and some Marriota bloke (spelling!).
Any Lucks out there, or is it a good year to be picking at the bottom?
At the moment Mariota is the consensus no 1 pick, possibly a more safer option than Winston. Leonard Williams at DT is another possibly no 1 pick. Amari Cooper, Kevin White, Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon are probably the best offensive players at WR and RB.

Personally, I think the Patriots should bung a testicular cancer charity a few million bucks and say it was a marketing campaign to get you to check your balls.
P.S. Sorry for dragging this up again.

What do people think a win/loss does for Brady's "legacy"?
I don't think it'll particularly change it either way, he's top 5 all time whether he wins or loses. If he wins still not ahead of Montana imo but if he loses he's still made 6 super bowls, more playoff wins than any other etc

Agree with the top one. It's just a pity vote because he has been stuck on the short list so long... the point of a HoF is that some really good players won't make it, it defeats the point if pretty much all those nominated as a finalist in offensive skill positions eventually get in.
Regarding Bettis... I'm biased, I have a picture of me, him and a Superbowl ring... I can now add that he is a Hall of Fame'r to the story

Didn't watch much college football or tape the games this year which is why I haven't done a draft prospect thread. Just didn't have the time to watch as many games as I would need to.TM Moot wrote:Seeing the season is now all but done, can anyone give me a heads up on this years draft class?

Like Williams, he's slow off the LOS but that's one of the few negatives about his game.JDizzle wrote:The other option is Leonard Williams, who probably is the best player in the draft.
West Virginia WR Kevin White is one to watch.
Not sold on Randy Gregory just yet, need to watch more.
Cameron Erving is easy to like as a prospect who can play across the OL.
Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon at RB. I prefer Gurley right now, prefer a bigger RB in the pro game.

The Patriots and Seahawks are 8-8 in head-to-heads although they have only meet three times since 1993. The Patriots lead 2-1 in games since the expansion in 2002 but the Seahawks lead 7-2 in their last 10 meetings.
Tom Brady is 1-1 against the Seahawks with 3 TDs, 3 INTs and a passer rating of 81.0. Russell Wislon is 1-0 against the Patriots with 3 TDs, no INTs and a passer rating of 133.7.
The Seahawks won the last meeting between the two teams 24-23 in Seattle in 2012. The TD scores for the Patriots that day were Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez.
Tom Brady will be setting the record for the most Super Bowl appearances with six and will be looking to join Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana with four wins. The Seahawks are looking to become the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the Patriots did that in 2004.
The Kansas City Chiefs beat both teams this season. They beat the Patriots 41-14 and the Seahawks 24-20.
The Seahawks and Patriots had the 9th and 11th best offences respectively. The Seahawks were 1st in rushing and 27th in passing. The Patriots were 9th in passing and 18th in rushing.
The Seahawks lead the league again in defence. They had the best passing defence and third best rushing defence. The Patriots were 13th in total defence, 9th in rushing and 17th in passing.
