Number-25 - Pats are reportedly in for Roy Helu Jr to replace Vereen - he any good?
Yeah, Helu can play and I'd like to see him back in Washington. We've used him as a 3rd down back and he's dangerous as a receiver out of the backfield. Durability was an issue early in his career - he missed almost all of his second season with a sore toe and the coaches were very frustrated with him. Since then though, he's been largely fine in that regard. He's had some big games for us. I've always felt he was a bit under-utilised by the Redskins but a big bit of that has been the presence of Alfred Morris.
I think with Brady lobbing him passes out of the backfield, he could be good for you. He averaged 11.4 yards per catch last season apparently.... not too shabby.

Looks like Frank Gore might be headed somewhere else. Indianapolis in play now it seems.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
I think it'll be a good thing for Philly if they miss out on Gore. RBs don't get better as they age he's been around for 10 years. He definitely took a step back last year. If they just want a one cut North-South runner then they should just go draft one. Should be able to find one later in the draft for a fraction of what Gore will cost.
For a Skins fan it's just funny to see Chip miss out. We don't get much chance to laugh at anyone else these days given how bad we are.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
The NFL really has taken off with trades this offseason. So the Eagles now have Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez going into the next season. As with Kiko Alonso alot of this trade will depend on how well he comes back from his injury.GSC wrote:Ngata to the Lions

The Saints getting rid of Jimmy Graham is not that much of a shock considering their salary cap. Big move for the Seahawks. If they can add a decent receiver they will be strong favourites for another Super Bowl. As the Seahawks get stronger, the 49ers seems to be knocking the drawing board down.

Torrey Smith has joined the 49ers for $40m on a 5 year deal with $22m guaranteed. Owen Daniels has joined the Broncos.

The Foles, Bradford trade could involve them swapping 1st round picks too. So the Eagles get the #10 pick and could be looking at Mariota.

Now there's rumours that the Eagles could be in for DeMarco Murray. The Chiefs are expected to be releasing Dwayne Bowe.

The Rams are now reportedly saying that the Foles, Bradford trade doesn't involve 1st round picks. Jerome Felton joins the Bills. A good move. He was a key part of Adrian Peterson's record season and can only be a plus for McCoy.

Well this has been a surprising few hours. Any chance Chip is going to try and trade Bradford now as well? Really go after Mariota.

The Jimmy Graham trade.... Wow! Who saw that coming??
Bradford for Foles... Will be fun watching how all that pans out. Chip is a player, that's for sure. Looking forward to seeing what he does next. Murray would make a lot of sense for them so long as they don't get too desperate and pay too much. Would make their games against Dallas fun to watch next season.
San Fran have seriously overpaid Torrey Smith.

Crazy, crazy day. Didn't the Saints just pay Graham last year, how does that move make sense from a cap perspective?

If Bradford doesn't start eight games the Eagles get a 4th back. If he is re-injured they get a 3rd.

Well pretty bummer news about Revis - but no way we would've ever given him that deal (if you look at the photos seems like it was done early morning - all the buzz must've been his agent trying to eek out more pennies).
No better player of the system than Darrelle Revis. Got the ring he wanted, and the monster contract from NYJ he's always wanted. Fairplay to the dude

The Eagles are hosting Ryan Mathews. After trading for Kiko Alonso and Sam Bradford is there any injured players Chip Kelly won't trade for?

Ach, Roy Helu is off to Oakland. I'd have liked to have seen him stick around in Washington. Not exactly a vital piece but still a very useful one nonetheless.

We might not have grabbed the headlines with the marquee signing but we're making some improvements

Lettuce be reality.
The Jets are awful, the Dolphins are irrelevant and the Bills just hired Rex Ryan. I'll take Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

Plus side of Revis going to the Jets is we have some cap space to work with now.
We've shown interest in Terrance Knighton and Nick Fairley. Ian Rapoport reported that Wilfork would be open to returning. Talk of Jabaal Sheard as well.

Thought Revis would head back to New York. Nobody has played the system better than Revis, he got his ring and his money. Watching him lift the Lombardi in a Pats uniform had to sting for Woody

I can't imagine it being much different tbf JDizzle - not a lot out there and Belichick won't just get someone for the sake of it. I mean heck we were one dropped catch away from winning the Super Bowl with Sterling Moore and Julian Edelman playing DB!

What sort of money is that Kansas City have paid Maclin?? No wonder Kelly let him walk if that was what they were competing against. I like Maclin and think he's good but $11m a year?? Seriously??
Pats were right to let Revis walk too. You wonder how serious they were about ever wanting him back knowing how much it would cost - prob made the appearance of retaining interest just to drive up how much NY would have to ultimately pay.
