What a finish! Several bookies had paid out on a Kaymer win as German efficiency is almost a given but he saved his two worst holes for when he was playing his last ten. This allowed two other players to sneak up on the outside and pass him. Those who picked Kaymer shouldn't feel so disappointed as his poor finish to the round also saw him pick up worst round points. Gary Stal was the main beneficiary of the Kaymer Kollapse and his round of 65 was also the joint best of the day. Just three Fantasy Leaguers picked him, and two of those also picked McIlroy and Kaymer to finish with a 1, 2, and 3.
After round 3 16 players were in scoring positions and as stated lots of points were to be dished out. After the final round 17 scored points. So what does this mean for the final positions. Well McLaren was caught by 1GrumpyGolfer and Raycastleunited. They had the 1, 2, and 3. They also had a 9th place finish in Jamie Donaldson and Ross Fisher respectively. However, and here's the crucial bit, Raycastleunited had Branden Grace who sneaked into 20th place picking up 5 valuable points. 1GrumpyGolfer didn't have anyone else in the placings so he loses the playoff. McLaren was just squeezed out. Kwinigolfer also picked Gary Stal and shared 4th place with Kouchi.
Ned B-H, Barragan, Boyhyde, SetupDetermines, and Hibbz pulled out a top 10 finish. Davie, I'm Never Wrong, Incontinentia, Goldwolf, Mary, and Pedro finished in mid table obscurity. LadyPutt finished just outside the relegation zone, BlueCoverman's charge fell just short. Beninho and Super_Realist swapped places at the bottom.
Justin Rose and Ernie Els matched Stal's 65. Rose earned points for a bunch of Fantasy Leaguers. Andy Sullivan matched Kaymer's round and earned points for a few Fantasy Leaguers. Jason Palmer finished last on +2, one of four players who didn't finish under par.

The 10th edition of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship opens the Middle East Swing. Chris DiMarco won the first event before Paul Casey and Martin Kaymer swapped the next five titles, the only repeat winners, before Robert Rock, Jamie Donaldson, and Pablo Larrazabal lifted the title. Casey is the only previous winner to miss the event, Kaymer is the only one to actually defend the title, and Larrazabal must be hoping to buck that trend.
World Number 1, Rory McIlroy, puts his legal worries and troubles behind him for the time being and opens his 2015 defence of his Race to Dubai title. He's joined by three other top 10 players in Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, and the invited Rickie Fowler. There are another seven players from the top 50 in the OWGR in attendance this week. A total of 57 players are providing value to the OWGR points on offer for this event, for more detail see the OWGR threads that GPB, Robopz, et al contribute to. One of my Category B favourites, Andy Sullivan, fresh off his maiden victory over Charl Schwartzel, is also in the field along with four others whose fine finishes last week got them into this event; Matthew Fitzpatrick, Paul Maddy, who BlueCoverman can tell you about, Lee Slattery, and Alessandro Tadini.
There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one. There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category. Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus. It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.
This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:
Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligble for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Jeez what happened to Quiros? Scoring shows he finished bogey, bogey, quad!
I thought he was safely through the cut and couldn't understand why I only had 6 through instead of 7

Red's been pretty busy of late and had some standing numbers to use if he didn't get the chance to make his own picks. Before that he was a force to be reckoned with; knew his onions so be careful what you wish for Kwini...

Can't believe I didn't pick Kaymer
That's what happens when you haven't done your homework and pick late at night! (Well that's my excuse, at least I'm ahead of Redrage!)

Kaymer owns this place. 3 wins and a 2nd and in good form. Only regret is I didn't put money on him, but @15/1 and with Rory in the field (who has a good record here as well and is in good form as well) plus a few other jokers (Stenson, Rose) I hardly found it worthwile.

10 players at -6 or lower including six picks, not confirmed, and the low round score could go to Dubuisson (who's in with a 64), or Kaymer (currently on a 65 but with holes to go), or both. Plenty of points being dished out today by the look of it.

So Dubuisson hangs on to low round, no one else crashed the top 10 low scores, and the Chinese amateur had the worst round. Full updated to come shortly.

With over half of the remaining field by Fantasy Leaguers there was plenty of opportunity for points scoring in round 3. Scoring was good; only 17 players didn't break par, unfortunately 7 of them were picks, and 5 of those dropped shots. 66 was good enough to make it into the Top 10 Low Round scores and 6 picks did just that, in fact four of the six lowest rounds came from picks. Victor Dubuisson posted the best with a 64 and he was picked by McLaren, Incontinentia, and SetupDetermines.
McLaren also had another 2 of those 6 low scoring players and he has created some separation at the top of the leaderboard. SetupDetermines had another pick in the points. 1GrumpyGolfer, Barragan, Boyhyde, and Kouchi also had 2 picks score points. 7 other Fantasy Leaguers had 1 pick in the points and 6 other Fantasy Leaguers did not trouble the scorers.
16 picks are in the scoring positions after round 3 and 9 of them are in the top 10 places. Lots of points will be dished out tomorrow; can McLaren be caught?

Thanks for putting this together. It certainly added a bit more fun to watching the golf this weekend.

Thanks Grumpy. "Mid table obscurity" is very good as opposed to the placings I usually get. Well done to raycastle
I have a question, though. What decides whether a player is in Cat A, B or C? Is that you as organiser or is there a list somewhere? Don't mind, just need to know if I go away for a week or so.

INW, it's partly me and the rankings of the players in the field. There's no formula as such as I list all the players in ranking order and take the top 13-15 players to be in Cat A depending upon field size. I then try to split the remaining so there's equal numbers in Cats B and C. I also like trying to get nice splits so for this one Cat B and C was split at OWGR 250.

That's fine Grumpy. If I need to, I can make a rough estimate as to where players are. Good job.

Congratulation to Ray on winning a closely contested event. A case of, there but for the Grace of Branden, go I.
Commiserations to nearly man, Grumps, and thanks for all the hard work.

Thank you all and thank you Grumpy for a well organised event. I'd just like to say that it is a process I'm going through, every week I'm getting closer, I just need more reps. I'm targeting the majors this year. That's why I run all those miles and lift all those weights, to retain that expolosiveness down the stretch and into the play off. It is what it is.

I take it we're not doing Qatar this week, as it starts tomorrow.
