I won't say he's ducking GGG but he still won't have my respect as a person or as a top sportsmen (gotta give him respect for getting in the ring though,)

I'd respect him if he'd fought the fight in his prime, not denied the fans a fight of that magnitude then and not treated the fans with no respect.

That is fair enough. Don't care much for him as a person but think he is a wonderful boxer. Quite frankly don't care much for Wayne Rooney but still like to see him score goals for Man Utd.

He is a great boxer Adam, no denying that. Problem is that when you've avoided THE biggest fight it's got to bite you at some point. It'll also make people forget about you a lot quicker when the next big thing rolls around who does fight his nearest rival.

Problem with boxing is, I don't think there is really anyone coming through who is as good as Manny or Floyd. Rigondeaux is a wonderful boxer but he is being avoided and not getting any younger.

All joking aside, I hope Joshua is the real deal. He is being hyped up but that is nothing new. Khan was the exact same. Be good to see if Joshua can hold a shot, hopefully he can.

Cotto's no more a real Middleweight than Floyd, really. He's an average-sized Welter who just happens to be campaigning at 160 now where the other divisional title holders (Golovkin, Lee, Taylor) dwarf him. You're talking as if Cotto is a significantly bigger man than Mayweather or something.

Cotto didn't bully Mayweather at 154 and he's not suddenly going to be able to now a few lb north of that. The fact that he holds the Middleweight title now is a smokescreen. Floyd could easily add 3-4 lb and compete at 'Middleweight' against someone like Cotto because they're in the same boat.

If Mayweather was fighting Golovkin, then it'd be different.

Thought there was an issue surrounding "ex" GBP fighters as Schaeffer basically let their contracts expire on purpose (was lining up the Haymon move) and as such GBP are taking a fairly hefty cut from Haymon? Saw it on ringside and Schaeffer has been had a compete clause put upon him where he can't be involved in any promoting activities for 1-3 years.

Mayweather winning an alphabet title is a good achievement, as was his besting of one of the two or three best 154 pounders at a catch weight (as they would be for any British fighter – Kell Brook for example). Plainly, though, those achievements do not merit his inclusion in any conversation over the best fighters in history. Dear God, what would Ray Leonard and Ray Robinson have done to Canelo Alvarez and Robert Guerrero?

Hopefully, the Cotto rumours are mere bargaining chips in the Pacquiao negotiations. Should that not be the case, and should Mayweather elect to take a lucrative, less taxing challenge against Cotto than a slightly more lucrative, more challenging bout against Pacquiao (who decimated Cotto lest we forget), then it would stand as a microcosm of Mayweather’s entire career post-lightweight.
