We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
I know it's not premier league related, but I was just reading that both of Scunthorpes goalkeepers suffered broken arms in today's game.

It does however mean more money should filter down the leagues, although not enough to make the gap bridgeable

Wish they'd lose 100%. Fed up of not being able to watch all the sports I'm interested in, and no way do I want to pay their exhorbitant fees.

I don't care how much they pay, or who has the rights until the stupid 3pm kick off rule is abolished. It's daft that these games can't be shown, and with technology like it is these days they have the ability to show every premier league game.

Can't wait for Spurs v. Arsenal, it should be a cracker. Last year Spurs were toothless in attack this year with Kane and Eriksen in good form and playing at home they should provide a big test. Although I like the way the Arsenal have played as of late. Arsenal to win with a lot of goals scored by both sides. I am thinking 3-2, 4-3, 4-2 something like that.

The worry is Hampo that it will drive fans away from the grounds as a lot would rather stay in and watch it (especially with prices the way they are,)
I think clubs should have a subscription channel for it where they charge like half the price of a season ticket or something.

It's for lower league/local sides.

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose, Bentaleb, Mason, Lamela, Dembele, Eriksen, Kane. Subs: Paulinho, Soldado, Vorm, Fazio, Chadli, Stambouli, Davies.
Arsenal: Ospina, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Ramsey, Welbeck, Cazorla, Ozil, Giroud. Subs: Szczesny, Gibbs, Gabriel, Rosicky, Walcott, Flamini, Akpom.
Referee: Martin Atkinson (W Yorkshire)
Surprised Fazio is on the bench for them

The whole it'll keep fans away argument doesn't stand, I look at what other sports do with game passes, costs about £150 a year and you get to stream every game. Football is so far behind the times.

Don't think it is illegal anymore, didn't that portsmouth pub win the rights to do it a long as they're paying the satellite company it's coming from?

It isn't about fans not turning up to pl games (though that doesn't actually happen from time to time) is is the worry fans of lower league sides will stay in and watch tv rather than pay to see their local side.

It would cost me £12 for my local side, & £19-25 for Wycombe and £28-£31 Watford plus Travel...
It's not worth it tbh.

Again though Ent it wouldn't happen. Football streaming is so readily available now that if they weren't going to turn up they already wouldn't be. The FA are spending so much money fighting the streaming sites, when if they used their heads they could do something smart and actually make a bit of cash.

I don't understand why they haven't embraced the little things, like streaming away games to big screens at the home grounds etc.
Does seem like one area of commerce that football hasn't even considered.

Because no one would go.
They've researched things like this, I was surveyed for a red cinema (watch United games live on big screen, comfy chairs etc for a few quid), they've never opened one.
Some pl grounds don't sell out, doubt they'd get the value screening away games in the ground.

Ent if you honestly believe nobody would go then you're living in a dream world. With online streams of every game available with less than a 5 minute Google search now, if people weren't going to go to games it's already be happening.
The fact is the FA still have this stupid belief, and would rather spend millions fighting the streaming sites, which is a losing battle, than do something productive like making a game pass available.

It really does stand.
For Truro in the Southern Premier, there is always a disparity in attendance for Tuesday night games when Champions League games are on, compared to when they are not, and it is the same for many non-league sides.

Hampo you seem to think the majority of people know about illegal streams
I'm with Ent on this one. Keep the 3pm lockdown.
Let's face it there's bugger all games played then anyways

30% reduction in pay at gate when spl games on TV.
Also some stuff out there showing reduced league attendances when cl on tv etc
Now it isn't amasing science but there is no doubt people will sit in and watch united or chelsea on TV than go out to a ground and watch Halifax or Oxford.
It is common sense really.
I'd love a United season pass but I understand why I can't get one.

Olly you really think the majority of people don't know how to find a stream in this day and age? It's hardly rocket science. For the amount of money people pay for sky sports having less football on than other countries doesn't stand, and as for Duty I've been going to watch lower league football for years, the attendance is the same on a midweek game as it is a Saturday

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
You said that attendances were different when the champions league was on, as someone who has attended lower league, and now non league games since the age of 7 I can say that isn't always true.
You can argue that the 3pm kick off rule might effect attendances, which personally I don't believe, however if the FA want to stick to that then fine, but show European football instead, can't even do that.

Just one of those purple patches, everything goes for you. I hope for England's sake this kid is the real deal, could potentially have everything. Not getting carried away though.

I am not sure if he will surpass shearer. But he reminds of him at the moment on this current spell.
What I can't get out of my mind is that this lad would have been at a league 1 team on loan if soldado scored more than a couple of goals in 50 games
